  1. Those win totals are in large part because the bottom of the league is historically bad.
  2. Friendly reminder that the White Sox functionally beat the Astros in a 7 game series in 2017 and the Red Sox in 18
  3. People who try to tell me that their cold is different from our cold or that I don't understand cold drive me nuts.
  4. The implications would be that you wouldn't have to play Jon Jay very much and could launch engel into the sun, which in my opinion, is not a negative.
  5. First of all, competing for a division is the same as competing for the World Series, if you get to the dance you can win the thing. This isn't the NBA. Second, if, your not competing for a championship until the guy you traded a Hall of Fame pitcher for is in his walk year, Rick Hahn should be fired yesterday.
  6. Isn't the story that Markakis took a discount though?
  7. Punting 2019 should bother some people. Punting 2020 should be completely unacceptable. Maybe they're not quite there yet in 2020, but if they're still running minor league filler out there on a daily basis that is a huge problem and people should not be happy with that.
  8. I’d take Moncada over Kipnis also. I think he’s pretty close to done and you could argue Moncada was just as good if not better last year.
  9. The second wild card team is almost certainly going to be better than Cleveland. They were this year. Cleveland was barely better than the first team out.
  10. Agreed. You add Machado and Pederson and you have by far the bullpen in the division and pretty close to the best lineup(though id still definitely take Cleveland). It wouldn’t take that much to break right to be right in this thing at the end.
  11. I’m just glad we can stop gemming and hawing about the first unanimous HOFer because it was a dumb thing to begin with.
  12. Worth noting that the White Sox are one of the fastest teams in baseball.
  13. You've got me backwards. I don't believe a hypothetical strike is going to help the free agent market other than maybe letting guys get there quicker. Teams are making it clear they don't want to pay a premium for aging players, so the Union is going to have to fight to improve the situation of the pre-FA guys. This is all hypothetical, but I personally don't think more money is out there for Machado and Harper 3-4 years from now.
  14. I think they'd be wrong in thinking it's going to get much better and would lose in the long run. It's not getting better before 2022 the Union is probably going to try and fix the pay scales of younger guys first because teams aren't going to decide 30 year olds are worth a ton of money again.
  15. In other news, water wet
  16. Not gonna happen. It's more likely that he sit's out entirely. And that is pretty much unimaginable
  17. Thought this said Dayan Viciedo and I got angry
  18. The strangest part of the radio silence is that none of the national guys followed up the sonny gray trade with 'Hard to say what this means for Machado and the Yankees'
  19. Because they're the best offer and the best offer isn't anywhere near what he wants.
  20. Amado Nunez just looks like a ball player
  21. He missed most of the first half. I imagine that threw his mechanics off, whether or not he can find them again remains to be seen.
  22. If you count his last year in college it's been multiple
  23. Well I don't think that's necessarily true. 1. It's assuming the White Sox would have figured out whatever the Padres did to turn him from a fringe int'l guy to a top prospect. 2. I'd still much rather have Manny Machado than Tatis at this point. They Sox are in on Bryce Harper as well and they don't necessarily 'need' him either
  24. But also a had a poop bullpen and a 7/9ths of a poop lineup. The brewers had 0 above average starters throw more than 80 innings and won a MUCH better division.
