  1. I cannot possibly imagine a team giving up something of value during this
  2. Not even so much a question of legitmacy, just like there being no playoff atmosphere, no bars to watch games, no or limited watch parties, no parade etc. etc. Like the White Sox winning would just be a constant reminder that shit generally still really, really sucks, as opposed to being any kind of respite from it.
  3. Definitely can’t imagine it being as meaningful if you’re team does win it though. I personally don’t see this even getting that far though.
  4. Man, I just really don’t think this is worth it. We have pretty much zero idea what the long term effects of this is, and whether or not players will be the same after recovering. Because they aren’t going to get 60 games in.
  5. Would still be pretty stunned if 60 games actually happened
  6. Yup I’m all good, thanks.
  7. we can argue economics all we want. The season is flat out not happening.
  8. The playoffs are a crapshoot because baseball is naturally high variance, and a 7 game sample can’t be used to prove anything.
  9. Idk about short term, this has turned into a proxy war for no reason.
  10. Lol
  11. Many, many, many Americans will interchange that word with, like, Stalinism.
  12. Cool I’m safe
  13. The whole grocery store workers are sacrificing so the players should sacrifice too thing only makes sense if their pay cuts were going to those workers and not under Jerry’s diving board.
  14. To quote Jerry Reinsdorf in the Last Dance: As soon as you sign this, I don’t want to hear from you again.
  15. I wonder if these are the same people that made a stink after falling for 4chan shitposts about kids eating ride pods
  16. I get wanting to restart, I really do. I want to as well but I have yet to see one person cry for the country to reopen provide a HOW. What is the plan? This just proves that they don't have one.
  17. Notice how every interview is something along the lines of 'I should be able to buy such and such' and not 'I want to go back to my job where I interact with hundreds of people a day'
  18. The thing that drives me nuts about these people is that we all, including most trump people, have made and will continue to make pretty incredible sacrifices for the well being of all of us and it's all going to be for not because of a group of paid protesters and the terminally stupid.
  19. My assumption is that the effect on us is gas gets super duper cheap for us, (it was already $0.98 in bumblefuck Michigan yesterday), it stops getting produced and as things ramp back up gas prices explode. Not to mention where we start to see real supply chain issues.
  20. Oil being free seems bad
  21. "Millionaires to reap 80% of benefit from tax change" is evergreen. The second part is just ad-lib
  22. I'm certainly not handing out medals for our governments response, but people would absolutely not have accepted a stay at home two weeks prior.
  23. This whole “when will the government open the economy” is the wrong question. You can open restaurants all you want. A lot of people (most?) still won’t be going. The question we should be asking is how to we make it safe enough for people to be comfortable going out.
  24. How has it taken this long for a reporter to put his feet to the flame
