  1. I watched meaningless baseball for ten years, not going to stop now.
  2. Well one, those seasons were played in full, at home, in front of fans. So it's not a good comparison in the first place. Two. I never said I want an asterisk. I just don't personally give a shit about the results of what happens in a bubble season. It's glorified spring training to me.
  3. I am under the impression there are very few people on here that are 80 years old.
  4. We're not going to forget that World Series was spent on the couch scratching our balls instead of with our friends, parents, significant others. The memories I have from '05 are just as much if not more tied to the people I shared it with than the games themselves. The Sox with out Sox fans aren't any different than any other bunch of millionaires playing a game. I'll take it because I want to watch baseball, but the results are essentially meaningless to me.
  5. I don't think that is remotely true. These are the most extraordinary set of circumstances any of has ever encountered.
  6. I think there is functionally no difference between not having a world series and having a virtual world series that everyone watches by themselves on their couch.
  7. Would it? What are ten or 15 of those guys going to do? You can't be expected to play all of them
  8. I don't know how you can do anything with out functioning minor leagues
  9. Also, half the proposed restrictions are pure theatrics
  10. Barely, imo. You lose all of the community aspects. You get weird baseball. Any playoff results would border on meaningless. And maybe risk peoples lives.
  11. NY still dropping new cases, hospitalizations, ICUs Correction: Hospitalizations are up from Sunday and Monday, but down from Saturday.
  12. A hypothetical White Sox World Series where they never play a single game with fans in Chicago would be so....meh
  13. Imagine being the poor SOB yanked out of an ICU bed for Mr. Grin and Bear It
  14. Well that happened fast
  15. ...no
  16. One thing going on in my dumb brain is that it’s fascinating that this situation more or less played out 100 years ago, but the world was so fucked at the time that it’s mostly a historical footnote. At least we have that going for us I guess?
  17. It's quite possibly the most petty bullshit I've ever seen in my life.
  18. I would say let's give this more time because the outbreaks could have started in black communities here. That being said, I would not be the least bit surprised if this keeps up.
  19. They have a roof for a reason though
  20. lmao
  21. 60 doctors in Italy who claimed to have never gotten sick were tested for antibodies. 40 of them tested positive. That’s terrifying, but overall good news I’d say.
  22. Not that I don’t believe the number is fudged, but I thought I read the Chinese were just cremating everyone that died of anything at one point. Which would explain the 24/7 thing.
  23. With the not insubstantial caveat of allowing elections to carry forward, Illinois and Chicago are doing about as well as you could ask for in our response.
  24. Bernstein was wrestling back tears for a good fifteen minutes.
  25. They sent us the wrong masks ffs
