And backs it up with a full Will Ohman inning. Didn't Ohman come with a LOOGY instruction manuel? Do never face RH hitting.

Nice outing by Bobby Jenks today, brings his ERA to 9.35 for the year. Glad I don't have to hear that idiotic argument anymore from coworkers about how we screwed ourselves by not bringing him back.

How does a 10+ year major leaguer like Juan Pierre turn into whatever it is he is now out there? He looks like a little leaguer out there right now. *Overruns ball, dances back, two shimmies to the left, closes mitt tenth of a second too early*

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 1, 2011 -> 02:38 PM) It does appear his effort is less than stellar which was the exact knock against him in Toronto. Maybe its his toe injury, or maybe its the fact that he is very graceful and those guys look like they give less effort than they do, but hopefully he didn't think he shut up his critics with his first half last year, because he's been awful ever since. If his injury is causing him to hit .160, coast in the outfield and misread flyballs, then he probably should be sat down. It's turf toe right? Another walk to Pierre.

Congrats to Lillibridge. Far and away our best player this week. Needs to be in the lineup everyday.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 1, 2011 -> 02:33 PM) Rios showing how NOT to play a flyball by drifting, drifting, drifting with it instead of going back to the wall right away and then readjusting. He's just dogging it out there, he's better than that. Embarrassing.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 1, 2011 -> 02:25 PM) Hawk must hate pitchtrax when it shows the umpire to be correct. I think pitchtrax has stolen some of Hawk's blame the umpire thunder. See also, the poor play by this team in general.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 1, 2011 -> 02:23 PM) I know they've been terrible, but do the stats actually show they've been the worst in MLB? I don't really research defensive stats tbh. I do know that our LF falls over himself routinely to catch easy fly balls, Rios has been misreading everything, and Quentin has taken a step back in both jumps and judging balls around the wall (excluding his miracle catch yesterday). I couldn't even imaging teams trucking out an OF defense worse than this. This is Sosa in CF bad.
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ May 1, 2011 -> 02:22 PM) What the hell would you call what we're in now then? We aren't really diving right now, its more of a free fall with your arms flailing and legs kicking. Won't score well with the Russian judge.

Rios and the rest of the Sox normal everyday outfield has been an embarrassment this year. Worst defensive outfield in baseball by a large margin.

General off-topic thought - Minnesota is terrible, and the least of our concerns this season. Their SP is bad, their offense isn't the same with a weak legged Mauer and sketchy Morneau, and their defense isn't what it used to be. I really don't see them being any better than a .500 team, with the great possibility of them being much worse. Meanwhile, Gavin is serving up long balls. Note to Gavin - offspeed pitches above the belt do not usually have happy endings.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 1, 2011 -> 02:02 PM) Good call, just looked up his stats...you're absolutely correct. Something to consider though is that Teahen and Dunn look lost against LHP this year, and AJP is going to get the day off after a night game. Yeah I agree with that aspect of the discussion. Our left handed options haven't exactly looked prolific against southpaws. This just seems to be a trend I've noticed with Ozzie lately.

QUOTE (jeffro2525 @ May 1, 2011 -> 02:01 PM) Gavin is gonna have to go complete game shutout to give us a CHANCE. Are you always this bipolar? You might be my new favorite poster. New is all relative for me as well, given I have no idea how long you've actually been around the ol' Soxtalk.
-
Anyone else think Ozzie should have left a few more lefties in the lineup given this kids repertoire and the stats after his first five starts? He looks a lot more comfortable pitching to the the RHers than he does the lefty. And the lefty is Juan Pierre. Just a thought.

Well I've seen enough.

Luckily Jake Fox is a wretched defensive player. Thanks for leaving Tillman in Buck, you've thwarted another for sure White Sox shutout.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 24, 2011 -> 02:16 PM) Changing Walker out won't matter. I think the first consideration is whether a managerial change BEFORE a possible firesale is going to make any difference...to me, it's worth a shot. You'd hate to see them go down this season without trying everything possible. The x-factor this season is the $130M payroll. If things continue down this path, the Chairman is set to lose big money this year. When this team is running deep in the red this June, it will force changes. Most likely these changes are going to be player personnel, but I would have to think Jerry is going to hold more than just the players responsible for this kind of failure. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 24, 2011 -> 01:51 PM) Danks is struggling with his stamina this yr I've always thought that was one of the knocks on him. Great for 5 innings. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 24, 2011 -> 01:49 PM) Which is why, when he was closing on 100 pitches, it wouldn't have been the worst idea in the world to have someone warming at the start of this inning, and maybe have Crain ready to face Jackson after that first double. Correct, that would imply proper management of the team. Ozzie isn't very interested in that concept at the moment. -

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Apr 24, 2011 -> 01:47 PM) Well Johnny completely falls apart. Contrary to popular belief, it's not the easiest thing in the world to pitch inning after inning knowing your offense is not capable of scoring a run. -

Where is Hawk and Stoney getting all this positivity from? I'd expect them to be lambasting this team by now.
