  1. Wow...Cubs are desperate to score a run huh? Nice play by the Sox all around. Beckham with a good throw and AJP in a good position. Nice defense! Beckham's defense has been stellar all year.
  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 3, 2011 -> 02:01 PM) Anybody ever sit in those rooftops at Wrigley? How do you get up there? Narrow stairwell? Are there bathrooms? Is it enjoyable? They are fine if you go with a group and don't have to pay or get a great deal (Groupon, etc.). It's usually open bar and the food is decent...The best part is there are numerous spots you can stand where you don't have to watch the game at all. I've only taken the stairwells to get up there, no idea if they have elevator access as well. The one's I have been up to all have ample bathrooms and an air conditioned third floor with another bar if you want to get away from the sun/heat or Cubs game.
  3. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Jul 3, 2011 -> 01:58 PM) I think he hit that ball off the end of the bat. I'm not sure it would've made it out of the infield from where they were playing. I edited above. He didn't hit it hard at all...didn't get a good look. You are correct.
  4. Sigh. Props to Pierre for hitting the ball hard again at least. Upon Review - that was a saw off line drive. Garbage.
  5. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 3, 2011 -> 01:53 PM) Floyd almost had the perfect bunt. Should we hang a banner? Maybe a plaque at least.
  6. QUOTE (Wanne @ Jul 3, 2011 -> 01:45 PM) This game has the dreaded "we won the first two games of the series and don't give a s*** about today" feel to it... Which is simply unacceptable when you're .500 and 84 games into the season. You're playing a real POS team today and need this sweep. Instead we truck out a wretched lineup.
  7. QUOTE (FlySox87 @ Jul 3, 2011 -> 01:38 PM) I don't follow prospects at all, but I thought Viciedo's big liability was defense...was I incorrect? At third base he was not so great. A general rule of thumb is that you take any infielder and move him to the outfield he will be pretty solid. Of course there are exceptions (i.e. Soriano), but generally they perform better in the outfield. He also has a plus arm..so if he can judge a fly ball, he would be an improvement. I have not heard any issues with him out there in making the routine play.
  8. QUOTE (FlySox87 @ Jul 3, 2011 -> 01:31 PM) What positions can Viciedo play competently? Third and left? Anyone think it's a bad idea to bring him up and have him DH? It would make more sense to DH Pierre and let Viciedo play in the OF. Improves the OF defense and prevents teams from taking an automatic extra base on hits to LF.
  9. QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Jul 3, 2011 -> 11:26 AM) Since when did the Cubs get Rodrigo Lopez? : He sucks. Also, I'm going to the taste of chicago right now, but I'm thinking of finding a sports bar somewhere on Michigan avenue to watch the game at. Does anyone know of a sports bar or a genric bar that's on Michigan avenue or close to it and within walking distance of Grant Park? Also, I hope they won't mind me sitting down for 2 hours or so any only getting 1 or 2 sodas. Assuming it's open (apparently a car hit two pedestrians and may have broke a window in the bar) Sweetwater Bar and Grill is a nice spot with a bunch of big flat screens. 225 N. Michigan.
  10. QUOTE (aprec32 @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 08:48 PM) Is there a full moon tonight? Nope, status quo
  11. It's become pretty clear where Hawk stands on the Juan Pierre experience.
  12. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 11:35 PM) Bernadina can kick the ball to get an extra base? If you throw it at him, I don't see why not.
  13. Omar is playing like a 44 year old man out there tonight. Beckham makes that play and probably makes the one from the 11th inning.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 09:51 PM) Did they say during the game why Bruney was used instead of Crain or Santos? Not at all. I already gave Ozzie's post game speech on the matter earlier in this thread.
  15. QUOTE (whtsoxfan @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 09:44 PM) I appreciate all he did for us but right now I'm very very disappointed in Harold Baines for not sticking up for Paul Konerko. Konerko one of the classiest guys in the sport who never argue, had a legitimate beef and was hot, but Harold ..no where to be seen. Harold Baines have no business coaching 1B period.. No surprise at all. Baines is a complete personality mismatch as a coach of any sort.
  16. Credit to Paulie for being a class act that get's an umpire's attention when he disagrees about a call. I'm not sure I've ever seen a first base call overturned like that. Of course we don't take advantage of it at all.
  17. Cue the Ozzie rant after the game "IF YOU'RE ON MY ROSTER, I EXPECT YOU TO PERFORM REGARDLESS OF THE SITUATION." This will be on Bruney after the game in Ozzie's world.
  18. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 08:49 PM) We seem to be calling for a Dayan Viciedo call up more all the time and complaining about Juan Pierre. But, I have never seen DV in the OF. How is his throwing arm? How many assists does he have at Charlotte? Of course he also swings a bat, which I agree seems to be a challenge for JP. He might be a total hack in the outfield, but there is no way his arm is even comparable to Juan's wet noodle attached to his abdomen. Viciedo is a converted 3B and he's playing RF for Charlotte. After some of the play's Juan hasn't made in the outfield there is virtually no way whoever you throw out there could be worse. It's impossible.
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 08:46 PM) I'm pretty sure it was AA, maybe he'd briefly played in Charlotte but I don't think so. He never made it past Birmingham before he was traded.
  20. What an embarrassment. Routine fly ball to left, tag up to second. Our team ERA is amazing considering how easily we let players advance into scoring position.
  21. The one thing White Sox baseball gives me is a flash back to little league baseball. Whenever a runner gets on base you immediately steal second.
  22. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 08:11 PM) Not Ramirez (offensively and defensively) or Quentin? I do like Alexei and he has outperformed my expectations since hes been here. I guess what I'm trying to say is he was a poor omission from my statement. As for Quentin, he works hard, but gives away a lot of outs with weak pop-ups to the right side. He also plays marginal defense in RF. Solid everyday player, but sometimes very frustrating.
