White Sox vs. Detroit 12:10 on WGN
Chisoxrd5 replied to 103 mph screwball's topic in 2011 Season in Review
I've returned to collect some optimism from the ol' Soxtalk faithful...anyone got anything for me to be excited about? This is fun bad baseball we have been playing the last 2 weeks. -
On a positive note, he bettered his .042 (1-24) hitting with RISP average today. He's now 3-26! On a not so positive noted, can someone get him to throw through the cutoff man? I'm not sure his lollipop throws from LF could gun out PK trying to score from second base.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 02:42 PM) I will agree he's been a serious issue so far, because he's hitting around .200 on the season. But he's going to pull out of that, and only the fools say he won't. I still think he'll hit .280 this year and steal 45-50 bases. The problem is he's not a difference maker out there and he will also play horrible defense in the process. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 02:38 PM) And who basically saved the Dodgers season last year when the $25 million juicer they had starting ahead of pierre got suspended. They were so thankful they traded him away for two mid level pitching prospects. The only thing they were thankful for was Pierre looked good enough to make the Sox deal for him. -

QUOTE (KipWellsFan @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 02:34 PM) You mean the career .300 hitter? Yup, that's the guy. The same .300 hitter that couldn't get off the bench for the LA Dodgers. The current Juan Pierre is a far cry from what he was for the Marlins 5 years ago. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 02:33 PM) Yes, but you had the chance to get into a spot where Jones or Quentin could do damage in one AB. Pierre's version of damage is an infield single. That's if he could actually keep the ball on the ground. When Pierre is hitting looping line drives and fly balls to the outfield, he is absolutely useless. -

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 02:30 PM) not much. and i would hardly characterize my post as venomous. This reply made about as much sense as your original post did. Congrats. -

QUOTE (KipWellsFan @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 02:26 PM) Cause you don't pinch hit your starting lead off hitter in the 7th. What about when your starting lead off hitter is Juan Pierre? -

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 02:15 PM) it gets even better: Ozzie's done irreparable harm to the team and its future, this season is a complete wash and disaster 13 games into the season and there's zero chance of this team turning it around. Ozzie is entirely to blame for the slow start at the plate and probably to blame for Gavin's lack of control today. I may have missed a few points, but that's about it. A lot of venom is always tossed at the negative posters who add no value with their mindless whining about the team, but here is a perfect example of how blind optimism can provide just as little or even less inherent value. No one here is blaming Ozzie for Gavin's horrendous start, but if I really wanted to be a spinmaster I could attribute his poor pitching to the pressure that is put on him by walking into the stadium and seeing Mark Kotsay in the three hole for the offense that is supposed to put up runs for you. Obviously a stretch, and I'm hardly serious, but I hope you see what I'm trying to do here. -

Betemit hasn't gotten a hit since May 3rd The White Sox are 6-13 (soon to 14) in games that Betemit has appeared. Betemit has nine hits and five errors on the season...which is just under a 2:1 ratio, which would be good if he was a PG and we were discussing Assist to Turnover ratio. His 3rd Base fielding percentage was .571 coming into the game today. Please go away.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 10, 2009 -> 02:51 PM) Same could be said for KW and Ozzie. uh ohhhhhhh. Blalock killed that ball. The difference is they have to watch this team everyday, I don't. -

QUOTE (fathom @ May 10, 2009 -> 02:48 PM) This game's reminding me of the first game we had against Galarraga this year. You need to be able to stack your lineup with more than 3 lefty hitters when you're facing a guy with such drastic splits. The sooner DWise gets healthy, the better. Pining for the return of Dewayne Wise, how cute. I'm just happy that my 2005 WS glee is still holding strong and I don't allow myself to get the same White Sox angst that I used to. -

QUOTE (fathom @ May 10, 2009 -> 02:45 PM) Why are Stoney/Hawk making Padilla out to be a great pitcher? He's been really bad the past few years. very true, the days of Padilla's Flotillas are long over. -

QUOTE (fathom @ May 10, 2009 -> 02:39 PM) Where's Andy Gonzalez and Luis Terrero going to bat? It's hard to find playing time for Gonzalez with Danny Richar gobbling up all the AB's. -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 10, 2009 -> 02:35 PM) Corky got some hits early, but now he looks like a pitcher with the bat. He doesn't look close to having a chance. We like to have an average of 3 hitters in the lineup every game that don't have a realistic chance at the plate. -

QUOTE (fathom @ May 5, 2009 -> 10:17 PM) Broadway's stock was soaring the weeks leading up to the draft. From what I was told, the Sox didn't even think he'd last to their pick. And, what's your point? That the Sox made the right choice in drafting him because other teams enjoyed his assured signability and stability? He was the definition of a safe pick. Meh.
-
This seems cruel and unusual to me. Broadway has no business being on the roster. This team has at least 5-7 roster spots right now that are occupied by marginal or sub-par major league talents. It's really not fair to single him out. Instead, be angry that the team spent a first round draft choice on a guy whos biggest criticism the year he was drafted was that he had good numbers but marginal stuff. Marginal stuff, especially from a RHP, is usually never effective against professional hitters. I can't really blame Broadway for the cards he was dealt.
-
Just my observation, but if KC wasn't a horrible fielding team the Sox would only have one hit right now.
-
Lillypad missed that pitch by three feet.
-
Pods was a horrible leftfielder, why in the flying kcuf is he in RF?
