The time to sign Grandal was last offseason. He will be one year older (31) but more expensive this time after the season he is having. Grandal wanted 4-years and $60 million last offseason. Will he take a 3 year, $45 million deal next offseason? And depending on how competent Collins looks behind the plate and with the bat, we may be able to live with a platoon of McCann and Collins.

I don’t see the Sox going after the top guys but if Puig keeps having a down season, he could easily be the steal of next offseason. He would be an obvious candidate for a bounceback season and would look nice in RF. He could also hang out with all of his fellow Cubans. He could be our Jermaine Dye signing part 2.

Agreed. And while I’m sure he can improve in LF Ike Schwarber did, I would at least like to see him get part-time DH’ed. I know you can’t worry about or predict injury but it’s just not worth losing his bat to injury.
