I predict Paulie will ground weakly to SS, put his head down and job to first as Everett is forced at 2B. Hope I'm wrong.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 01:59 AM) I know, I know. I just think that it's better to be more careful with the starter at this point in the season than to push him to the max. I just wish Ozzie trusted Cotts a little more. Especially with 3 lefties due up.

Walker is rather nasty. Not sure why he was yanked from their rotation.

Aaron nice enough to hit that ball before it killed a worm.

QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 01:48 AM) Pk is hitting a robust .000 w/ runners on 3rd at home this year. And .042 overall. Found that he is hitting .368 with a runner on 3rd and less than 2 outs. But .145 with runners in scoring position. Awful.

He pissed me off in the 1st, but kudos for Orlando for shutting em out for the next 5 innings.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 01:09 AM) Just like how people said there was no way the Red Sox would beat the Yankees after being down 3 games last year? I'm sorry, but there's no guarantees in sports. Up 15 on Cleveland in the loss column, with 50 some games left. Tough for them to play 16 games better than us in that span. If it gets to 5 games, I'll worry.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 01:07 AM) My computer is unbelievably slow right now, but I would guess the OPS against him by lefties is much higher. .833 for lefties .755 for righties He's very inconsitent either way for me.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 01:03 AM) It's all about facing righties for Duque. He still has good enough stuff to be tough on righties. Lefties get such a good look at his pitches, and he definitely doesn't have the type of control he needs against lefties. His stats are actually very similar vs. righties and lefties. Lefties bat .287 compared to .275 for righties. He walks lefties a lot more.

Season's over. But seriously, our play at home baffles me and concerns me if he have homefield in the playoffs.

No way! It's Hot-Lanta, baby! Been thru there once and wasn't impressed at all.

BEARS
Everyone picking Detroit to be a surprise team is going out on such a limb. Sure, they have 3 good recievers full of potential. Is Rogers going to stay healthy? Is Harrington gonna grow up? I like Kevin Jones and their coach, but don't give me Jeff Garcia love. Their defense will be better, but nowhere near the Bears caliber.

Also saw "Bad News Bears" today. The little things they changed from the original pissed me off and prevented me from liking it as a movie. I laughed a few times, but they changed too much.

Saw a trailer for "Sound of Thunder". I read the short Ray Bradbury story in high school and liked it. Looking forward to it.

I got detention in junior high once for throwing snowballs in the woods. Not at anyone. That was BS!

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 07:08 PM) My mind must be going to crap. I thought Frank hit a triple off the top of the wall in his debut? Blame baseball-almanac.com if this is the case. That is where I saw the box score.

Sox possibly to face most touted prospect since...
Though Mark Prior was the most touted pitcher since Gooden?

Frank Thomas made his major league debut for the Sox vs. the Milwaukee Brewers, going 0-4 with 1 RBI.

Joel Pineiro
Bullpen, hell yes, but as a starter he couldn't even cut it in Safeco.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 09:55 PM) I've gotten halfway into 'The Machinist', is it worth finishing? I hope I won't be dissapointed. Is there a good twist coming? I liked that movie. I do remember it being kind of slow. The last 20 mins or so is very good.
