QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 12:10 AM) Can someone actually look this up? How does that make any sense? We're at what, $75-$78 million right now? We lose $8 million from Konerko, and another $8 million (or so) from Thomas. I realize that raises will probably bring that number up a bit, but to $70 million? You know what? Nevermind. That actually does make sense. Garland + Pierzynski get arbitration raises, I think Uribe's and Rowand's contract calls for increases after every year, and same goes for the guys we signed this offseason, El Duque, Iguchi, Dye, and Hermanson... I've got them at 57.35 figuring they buy out Everett and Frank.. The only Arb eligble player I added was Garland at $7M (which is about what he'd earn next year) Other Arb eligble guys who I didn't figure are Viz (2M max?) and Crede(who knows?) -

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 11:43 PM) Obviously one of those bats will be at DH, the other could be at 3rd or SS. It will be a 3B.... Uribe is.. 1) Healthy 2) Hispanic 3) Coachable (at least compared to Crede) Crede has offseason back surgery in his future. Drops his back shoulder more than any player in baseball, yet refuses to correct it. And is a Scott Boras client. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 11:21 PM) Seriously, what the f*** is he thinking? Contreras goes and lets the first 4 batters of the inning reach base. With Contreras's track record, you get him out of the game before the full implosion. Of course, that would actually have to require Ozzie to be proactive with his starting pitchers. I would have pulled him when he got down 2-0 to stairs. -

Uribe now has 13 extra base hits this month... The most that any Sox player has in a month this season is Jermaine Dye with 14 in May. -

QUOTE(Hermanson32 @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 10:55 PM) I hate how much praise DJ is giving to Angel Berroa for his defense. I don't think he has ever seen Angel Berroa play before. In 2004, Berroa was sent to AAA because he was so bad at defense. Hey, at least he's pronouncing his name right. For 3+ innings, we were facing a pitcher named Mike Woods. -

Putting Konerko in the #3 spot doesn't solve the problem that we have no #3 hitter. It just moves the problem to the #4 spot. Juan Uribe needs to get more at-bats. -
ESPN 1000 now says that Marte will either be suspended, or be assigned to the DL for the remainder of the season.
