  1. Google local is also pretty cool (though nothing revolutionary) -- http://local.google.com/lochp though it is good for finding hookers near Schaumburg -- http://local.google.com/local?sc=1&hl=en&q...gle+Search&sl=1
  2. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Feb 10, 2005 -> 08:35 AM) The thing is with Percival he doesn't throw a lot of innings, so he can't really close everyday. That's why they need to keep Urbina around in my opinion, although Farnsworth isn't the worst insurance to have. *** Newsflash *** We've got the same issues here on the southside... Shingo threw 62 Innings last year, the most since throwing 79 in 1997. In between, he logged more than 50 IP only once, and that was only 51.2 in 2001. He seemed to be getting a little tired at the end of the season, although I think Ozzie learned his lesson in using him for more than 1 inning. *** Back to your regularly scheduled Cubs/Tigers thread ***
  3. Ok the Wal*Mart part was gratutious, but I don't like them.. Google has entered the online maps business. Still in Beta, but the interface kicks all others asses. -- http://maps.google.com/maps
  4. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Feb 10, 2005 -> 12:36 AM) QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Feb 10, 2005 -> 12:00 AM) There's at least a 27.7% chance of a score when one of Pods, Aaron, or Dye/Thomas 2B. There's at least a 27.2% chance of a score when one of Everett/Dye, Uribe, or Iggy 2B. * You're probably being sarcastic but in case you are sincere I'm just applying Koney's & AJ's batting average. Only a hit or a major error will score a run for 2B. I probably should have said in general to avoid the LH vs RH debate on this. you'd be better off using OPS, even though that's misguided also.... applying BA across multiple players doesn't take into account HR's (Bonds looks the same as Ichiro) or walks, or Sac flies. All of which are included in OPS.
  5. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Feb 10, 2005 -> 12:26 AM) QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Feb 10, 2005 -> 12:17 AM) Yes it would but I guess you make do with what you've got. I envision Timo being used in a PH RISP role or a late inning defensive replacement. Except Timo is a .176/.194/.221 pinch hitter the last three years and is only a defensive upgrade over my wheelchair bound grandmother.
  6. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Feb 10, 2005 -> 12:00 AM) There's at least a 27.7% chance of a score when one of Pods, Aaron, or Dye/Thomas 2B. There's at least a 27.2% chance of a score when one of Everett/Dye, Uribe, or Iggy 2B. I find your ideas intriguing, and wish to subscribe to your newsletter. How does one arrive at these figures?
  7. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Feb 9, 2005 -> 10:22 PM) It's been 6 months since the Roberto Alomar trade, who are we giving up? The Roberto trade was performance based. -- PTBNL or Cash -- The .180/.203/.246 he put up in 60 Ab's shouldn't cost us a player.
  8. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Feb 9, 2005 -> 11:02 PM) GHC -- You talking about Everett and his worthlessness from the right side (was it this thread?) gets me to thinking... we have absolutely nobody worth a damn from the right side. The Cubs took a flyer on this kid, Hansen, Hanson, is his name? He's a natural 1B-man, isn't he? He would have been a great pickup for this team, especially if he's versetaille (don't know if he is -- can he play the corner OF spots?). I think he's a righty, but if he's not, scratch my idea. I'd have loved to see the Sox grab him, seeing as though his OBP is usually around .340-.350 off the top of my head... I know a lot of people like our bench, and to a certain extent, I do too -- Harris, Gload, and Everett are all average to slightly above average players, which is really all you can ask for with a non-Yankee payroll. But, who do we bring in from the right side when we need a right handed pinch hitter for AJ Pierzynski in the ninth against JC Romero? Ben Davis? At this point, Burke should be on the team over Davis, but that's JMHO. I was just putting together a line-up, with three year splits side by side -- We've got some issues. We need a right handed bat... I hate Timo even more now. So anyways here's what I put together LHP RHP Rowand .298/.361/.523 Spod .284/.354/.404 Iggy* .285/.365/.475 Iggy* .260/.333/.415 Dye .255/.354/.413 Everett .288/.361/.501 Konerko .299/.360/.540 Konerko .265/.338/.461 Crede .274/.321/.457 Rowand .285/.321/.457 Uribe .264/.303/.453 Pierz .305/.353/.450 Everett .238/.301/.354 Dye .240/.306/.429 Pierz .262/.287/.396 Uribe .257/.304/.407 Spod .246/.312/.387 Crede .248/.298/.434 But Everett is useless vs. LHP, as noted before, so I took him out. Spod sucks too, so I lead rowand off again. Taking out Everett and replacing him with Gload, who has exagerated splits due to 47 lifetime AB's vs. LHP, but I'm much more confident with him than Everett. I come up with this LHP Rowand .298/.361/.523 Iggy* .285/.365/.475 Dye .255/.354/.413 Konerko .299/.360/.540 Crede .274/.321/.457 Gload** .383/.420/.574 Uribe .264/.303/.453 Pierz .262/.287/.396 Spod .246/.312/.387 ** Only 47 AB's Adding Thomas into the mix, I get this. LHP RHP Rowand .298/.361/.523 Spod .284/.354/.404 Iggy* .285/.365/.475 Iggy* .260/.333/.415 Thomas .259/.407/.563 Thomas .263/.381/.515 Konerko .299/.360/.540 Konerko .265/.338/.461 Dye .255/.354/.413 Rowand .285/.321/.457 Crede .274/.321/.457 Pierz .305/.353/.450 Uribe .264/.303/.453 Dye .240/.306/.429 Pierz .262/.287/.396 Uribe .257/.304/.407 Spod .246/.312/.387 Crede .248/.298/.434 Bench Everett .288/.361/.501 With Thomas back, we become much deeper (obvious I know). But what's clear is that Jurassic needs to be getting PT vs. RHP... He's better than Dye, Spod, and Rowand in that category... He's being wasted on the bench there. * I estimated Iggy's splits, apparently, from what I've read atleast, he doesn't have an appreciable platoon split. Some sorry ass f***in players on the bench vs. LHP Timo - .154/.201/.191 Willie - .186/.234/.233 Everett - .238/.301/.354
  9. I'd be interested to see what the Unfair demands of the workers were keeping this Gargantuan company from "operating in an efficient and profitable matter"
  10. QUOTE(El Piervizdyeiniguchansodnik @ Feb 9, 2005 -> 09:32 PM) The in is just a continuation of Vizcaino's name. Vizdyein After a long debate with myself, I decided iniguchi was better than inoguchi. Open for feedback on that part though. I'd drop the INI, it's making me ILL... seriously though, I'd drop the "in" and either the "I" that follows it, or the "E" that precedes it.. Then it will roll right off the tounge.
  11. El Piervizdyeiniguchansodnik Duque Pierz Vizcaino Dye Iggy Hermanson Pods But who is the "in" for -- am I missing someone?
  12. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Feb 9, 2005 -> 08:43 PM) Technically speaking, him joining a new league tends to be more adventageous for a pitcher, while it can be detrimental to a hitter. So I'd say switching leagues will actually benefit Farnie. However I also think the AL Central is a very good fastball hitting division. I know the Sox tend to be a good fastball hitting team. When Farns is good, it's not the FB that get ya. It's the Slider.
  13. QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Feb 9, 2005 -> 09:03 PM) jeez, they made a mistake..he did pitch for the cards, just not last yr. >oh, what a dumb question:sammy or tejada, the clubhouse leader. I wasn't commenting about you... I was commenting on whoever wrote that -- I'm sure they got paid to do it. But, that doesn't mean their opinion counts for anything.
  14. QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Feb 9, 2005 -> 08:59 PM) Some analysts think Herm can unseat him for the 5th spot. It's Garland's spot to lose for sure. http://www.sportsline.com/mlb/spring/turfwars That guy doesn't even know where Hermanson last pitched... Why would I beleive anything else he had to say?
  15. QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Feb 9, 2005 -> 08:56 PM) Hi, I'm Gene Honda Civic. I'm Timo's daddy. You can call me Mr. Perez if you'd like... is timo really your fave sox? ------ OMG LOL HE IS THE BEST EVAR
  16. QUOTE(Heather Lee @ Feb 9, 2005 -> 08:45 PM) I am Heather Lee...Posted as HeatherTheRedbird in 2001/2002, then changed my name to what it's been for about three years. Hi, I'm Gene Honda Civic. I'm Timo's daddy. You can call me Mr. Perez if you'd like... ------ Now that we've got that finished.... I think of the rotation like this. 1)Buehrle 2)Garcia 3)Good Contreras + 1/2 year of El Duque 4)Garland 5)Bad Contreras + 10 starts from AAA fodder We have three really good pitchers, a league average pitcher, and a replacement level 5th. -- Still the best rotation in the AL Central, because everyone's going to have the replacement level 5th starter.
  17. I can see there's a lot of interest in the game...
  18. QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Feb 9, 2005 -> 08:21 PM) he wasnt able to do the simplier things like getting the guys in from third with less than two outs. lets not get ahead of ourselves. wait until he drives in atleast 95 runs Can you name the last leadoff hitter that drove in 95 runs?
  19. QUOTE(The Critic @ Feb 9, 2005 -> 08:00 PM) I want Kong there until Frank regains his rightful spot. It won't be PK though. The reason that Pauly won't be there is a philisophical one --- With the first two batters getting on base at about a .350 clip each (just a rough estimate I'm using), The most often scenario in the first inning, has one of the first two batters reaching base, and the other not -- 1 on, 1 out. -- Putting Konerko, who's a nuetral GB/FB hitter, in the three spot with his severe lack of wheels would result in a DP on an extraordinary amount of AB's, ending the inning... Frank was also slow, but he has a far superior OBP, and is an extreme flyball hitter, greatly reducing the opportunities for the rally killing DP Rowand hits a lot of GB's but has the speed to leg it out, and is a higher avg. hitter. Maggs had the same type of make-up (some speed, high avg, slight GB hitter) Dye, doesn't have Rowand's speed or avg, but does hit the ball in the air more often...
  20. QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Feb 9, 2005 -> 08:04 PM) i was talking about .337 because that is whats being predicted for this yr. i know that wasnt his obp last yr .269/.337/.446 >> .262/.343/.323 Iggy would more than make up for the half of a percentage point difference in OBP, by hitting half a percentage point higher, while hitting the ball ALOT farter.
  21. QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Feb 9, 2005 -> 07:54 PM) i hope your right. although i could live with .269/.337 i would prefer 280 or so. .269/.337 is a down grade from what willie did last yr. :banghead .446
  22. I guess it's just me, but I don't like having a guy who put up averages of .252, .172, and .262 the last three years in the #3 spot... Doing so becasue he was the big FA acqusition or that's the spot in the order that the player he is replacing occupied, would be dumb.
  23. Here's my opening day line up 1)Spod 2)Iggy 3)Rowand 4)Kong 5)Everett 6)Dye 7)Pierz 8)Uribe 9)Crede Though we'll probably face a lefty... Everett is :puke vs. lefties .238/.301/.354(3-yr split)... So I'd drop him in the order -- NEVER EVER should Pierz bat behind Konerko... That's an automatic rally killer.. Dye or Rowand should always be behind Kong. So my revised opening day lineup is like this 1) Spod 2) Iggy 3) Rowand 4) Kong 5) Dye 6) Pierz 7) Uribe 8) Jurassic 9) Crede I wouldn't mind Everet hitting 3rd vs. RHP. he should probably consider abandoning Switch hitting... It's not really helping him any.
