I was aware they wasted a lot of money, but $85 million for 0 WAR? Sox never pay top dollar for FA but for the same dollars they could have had Harper, Machado, AND Wheeler.  Giving big bucks to mid-level players and relievers is always stupid.  Pay top dollar for impact players and then fill in with a deep farm system and smart waiver wire transactions.  This number alone justifies getting rid of the entire front office.

White Sox Baseball = Target prices for Dollar Store quality.

  2. 1. Rick Hahn and 1A. Tony La Russa, these players didn't just show up here out of the blue on their own.

Bottom line is Lynn ($18.5M), Grandal ($18.3M), Moncada ($13.8M), Pollock ($11.0M), Graveman ($8.0M), Kelly ($8.0M) and Garcia ($5.5M) have a combined net fWAR of 0.0, and all but Grandal and Moncada were signed/acquired between July 2021 (Lynn) and Opening Day 2022.

They allowed Robin Ventura to go through a lame duck season.

Yes, but they also claimed to have begged Robin to stay in October 2016. I believe Robin entering into the 2016 season as a lame duck was more of Robin wanting to GTFO, or at least wanting another six months to think about it, than a lack of interest by the White Sox. His October 2016 "offer" could have just been a smokescreen to allow Robin to save face, but I'd go with Robin really didn't want to return, and looked like he didn't want to be there, perhaps for his entire tenure.

Tony may feel he has had enough after this year and will tell JR to wait and see about his health when they get to October 2023 before announcing anything publicly. I don't think even Jerry has the balls to publicly announce he extended Tony after this debacle. They would just keep it private.

I don't see Tony leaving his managerial role in October 2022 (outside of legitimate health or family considerations) unless several of the team's veterans came out and criticized Tony publicly, saying they need a new manager and additional coaching staff changes. Jose is all you would really need, but it goes against his personal nature. I can see several players beyond Tony's Cronies (Liam, Lynn, Kelly, Leury) coming out with long knives for Tony.

This would expose Tony, as he stated several times including last October that he does not consider returning unless he has the backing of the players. Most of the public and media would back the players in this battle/debate. Players would win in either scenario, either by purging Tony or getting traded elsewhere and leaving this sinking ship with better future financial and competitive prospects.

I've heard some talk he's already next in line when TLR's deal is up after 2023.

If they extended Hahn and or Tony at any time between October 30, 2020 and today beyond 2023, would you expect them to announce an extension this October, or just play it out and say nothing until at least October 2023?

If Tony and or Hahn are going into a "lame duck" season in 2023 (or whatever is the actual final year of their respective contracts), do you believe Jerry would allow either to go in as a lame duck without at least a one year extension?

Similar to the one year extension Hahn gave Ricky Renteria in October 2019 for the 2021 season.

1990 to 2006 was certainly a very good run. 12 winning seasons, three playoffs appearances (even though two were elimination very quickly) and a World Series title.

But I'd suggest the "Golden Age" of White Sox baseball was 1951-1967. 17 straight winning seasons, seven years 90+ wins (and remember from 1951-1960 you only played 154 games), outdrew the Cubs in 16 of those 17 years, got the lions share of local media publicity, had Hall of Fame caliber players Aparicio, Fox, Minoso, Wynn, Pierce, Wilhelm, manager Al Lopez,  70 All-Star selections in those 17 seasons, won the 1959 A.L. pennant.

Only reason they didn't make the playoffs more often was because baseball didn't have expanded playoffs until 1969.

Those were very good times to be a Sox fan unlike what basically has gone on since the start of the 2007 season.

Bill Veeck is the only White Sox Owner who won more pennants than expected based on the number of teams he competed against. Beyond breaking out Charles Comiskey's ownership separate from his children, he is the only owner of the four groups who have a positive contribution to White Sox Baseball over 120 seasons.

Meanwhile, Jerry Reinsdorf and Family would surpass the Comiskey Family's ineptitude for worst ownership group in the history of the Chicago White Sox if they continued to own the Sox through 2032 without the Sox winning a second pennant.

Expected American League Pennants vs. Actual American League Pennants by Chicago White Sox Ownership:

    1. +0.281 Bill Veeck (Actual Pennants 1, Expected Pennants .719)
    2. -1.400 Pennants Arthur & John Allyn (Actual Pennants 0, Expected Pennants 1.400)
    3. -1.890 Pennants Jerry Reinsdorf (Actual Pennants 1, Expected Pennants 2.890)
    4. -2.625 Pennants Comiskey Family (Actual pennants 4, Expected Pennants 6.625)

    Methodology:

    Minus 2.625 Pennants: Comiskey Family (Charles 1901-1931; J. Louis 1931-1939; G. Comiskey 1940-1956; Dorothy Comiskey 1957-1958): Four Actual Pennants (1901, 1906, 1917, 1919) vs. 6.625 Expected Pennants (53 seasons / 8 teams per season)

    Positive .281 Pennants: Bill Veeck (1959-1961 & 1976-1980): One Actual Pennant (1959) vs. 6.625 Expected Pennants (2 seasons / 8 teams per season + 1 Season / 10 teams + 1 Season / 12 teams + 4 Seasons / 14 teams )

    Minus 1.4 Pennants: Arthur and John Allyn (1962-1975): (14 seasons / 10 teams / 0 Pennants)

    Minus 1.89 Pennants: Jerry Reinsdorf (1981 - 2021): One Pennant vs. 2.89 Expected Pennants (32 Seasons / 14 teams + 9 Seasons / 15 teams) - Through 2021.

American League Pennants as a Percentage of Chicago White Sox Ownership Seasons:

    1. 12.5% Bill Veeck (Actual Pennants 1 / Number of Seasons 8)
    2. 6.9% Comiskey Family (Actual pennants 4 / Number of Seasons 58)
    3. 2.4% Jerry Reinsdorf (Actual Pennants 1 / Number of Seasons (41) through 2021)
    4. 0.0% Arthur & John Allyn (Actual Pennants 0 / Number of Seasons 14)

Hahn built a line-up in large part based on their potential power...the ability to blow teams out with HRs.

Then the league decides that there are too many HR so  baseballs all of a sudden  travel like they are  filled with sawdust.

OK, a few guys have bad years, but to me it looked like a lot of balls that were hit to the warning track this year would have been HR in past years.

Unfortunately the sawdust balls only seem to be impacting White Sox hitters, who rank 26th across The MLB in that statistic despite playing at Comiskey Park II. White Sox pitchers have given up 135 HRs, also the league average. 17 teams haven allowed less home runs this season.

The home run differential of minus 29 coincides with the run differential of minus 42. Rick Hahn's personal batting coach selection of Frank Menechino, plays a role, if not a big role in this unfortunate set of circumstances. Tony La Russa also agrees with the small ball approach, but Hahn brought him in October of 2019 and is responsible for this approach to hitting.

What needs to happen is the diehard fans that still spend foolish money, or as they say, throw good money after bad needs to bring signs to the game, they should “ FIRE TONY AND SELL THE TEAM.” If enough signs are around the park and close to the cameras will see them, plus MLB Network, ESPN will show it in the highlights of every game. Outside of of a total boycott this is the way to go. I’m boycotting and not returning to the park as long as the management team from top to bottom is gone.
Loud Booing after a loss near the dugout helps. Sitting on your hands and not applauding helps. Wearing the old fashion Paper bags like they in the NFL IS A GOOD FORM OF Protest. I’m old enough to remember “ the AINTS” when The New Orlean’s Saints we’re horrible etc.

A rebellion by the fans is necessary    The best example if you’re old enough to remember is the Blackhawks  attendance went to announced crowds of 7,000, if actually 5,000 were in the building would have a lot  they count season ticket holders even if they stayed home  Bob Pulford was the GM every year, finally Rocky Wirtz had enough, fired everyone, brought in Scotty Bowman, John Mcdoona and the rest is history  3 Stanley CUPS IN 6 years  yes they suck again but they will rebuild again

Please no Chicago NHL Team comparisons, would rather watch every game three times in an 0-162 season than support that organ-I-zation.

If you're the type to buy a another team's hat during a fallow period you're not really a hardcore Sox fan and shouldn't be posting this.

Jerry is strictly relying on selling Sox and Bulls hats to Peoples Nation at this point.

Why would you not have Diekman up and ready to pitch to McArthy?

Tony is betting five to six figures a game against the White Sox via the Caesars White Sox Betting App. Will restock his wine cave for October 6.

  12. The Sox aren’t flushing their 1/4 CSN ownership down the toilet to chase down some hillbilly 30th tv market in the country. Las Vegas and Portland will also offer horseshit TV revenue.

Montreal is the most viable city and baseball is not returning since Canadians aren’t building these billionaire fat cheapass fucks free stadiums.

Worst part about the TLR hire is Reinsdorf and La Russa thought it would work. They wanted to cement Tony's legacy.

Instead they've razed it to the ground.

As it deserves to be. Tony was always horseshit with the Chicago White Sox, took advantage of steroids and coasted off of superior FOs when Jerry placed him in Oakland and later in Saint Louis.

He still fucked up two of the three Oakland World Series despite being heavy favorites.

I'd even get excited is JR let his kid run the team. Rocky Wirtz watched his father and learned what not to do.

    Bill Wirtz >>>>>>>>>>>> Rocky Wirtz

Bill Wirtz (and Dale Tallon) built the Stanley Cup team, did not aid and abet a serial child rapist.

Fuck that clown show and station. You need actual experienced competent people.

Also, La Russa is either managing or staying in the Front Office as long as Jerry breathes.
