  1. Won't matter until the Division Series. :headbang

Enough time to start Giolito and Keuchel again the following week. Still think Cease and Dunning, both on short leashes so likely bullpen games with Lopez on standby. Lopez looked the best in September, would consider depending on the matchup.

  2. A very high standard for a catcher. He wants to play 1-2 more seasons, could move up to fourth.

Catchers with 2,000 or more hits Player Hits [Total Games at Catcher / Additional Games] - List limited to players with 50% + games at catcher.

    2. Ted Simmons 2,472 [1,771 / 685]
    3. Carlton Fisk 2,356 [2,226 / 273]

There a few but having to retain  Reinsdorf sycophant Cooper as their pitching coach is where A-list managers would draw the line.

    https://chicago.cbslocal.com/2011/10/07/williams-cowley-is-a-liar/

According to a major-league source, Cooper sidestepped Guillen — and the rest of the coaching staff — in June, going directly to Williams to beg for an extension. Cooper was breaking protocol because Williams had publicly stated two years before that the coaches’ fates were in Guillen’s hands. And why would Williams want to retain Cooper, who got an un-Sox-like four-year extension? The feeling among the coaches was that Cooper was all too eager to share with Williams what was being said about the GM and club on a daily basis.

Cowley also wrote that Guillen went to Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf in July to fight for extension for his staff, but was told Cooper was already working on his. That’s when he “checked out”. And, according to the report, when Cooper became the manager for the last two games of the season, Guillen wrote Cooper a text that said: “You finally got what you wanted.”

Engel should have really been given a decent look this year.  I don’t have huge confidence in the guy but you find out between the lines what he is.  Before this year I always thought the guy was nothing, just defense and not worth anything but being a defensive replacement.  But he’s surprised me with how he looks this year.

is he the starting right field next year?  He can’t be because he’s still an unknown because Ricky didn’t play him more.

Hahn’s three hitting acquisitions are performing worse than the existing players on the roster.

Do you really think Hahn is going to allow Renteria to bench the 25%+ of 2020 payroll Hahn committed to fWAR,   Parrot and Strep throat?

Crap, Hahn was trying to salvage yet another first round draft bust yesterday, it blew up in his face two hours later.

Did I imagine it or was Jose signaling Eloy that no need to slide on that play?  I think he just slid there for show.  He was well ahead of the throw.

Watched it live, Jose had his hand up indicating come in standing. Said the the slide was jackass when he came up limping, confirmed on the replay.

Video: Mazara's two run single. Ran full Eloy speed until he hit home plate.

  6. A week ago, fans on both sides of town thought this series would only be for "pride". if there is a team playing worse than the White Sox, it's the Cubs, which scored 4 runs in a four game series in Pittsburgh, and were lucky to escape with a victory.

Still think the Sox can sweep this weekend, just need to keep it close until the bullpen tonight and pwn the lefties thereafter. May try to make it to the stadium Sunday, wish Marz or Lagunitas were open for pre/post game.

Saint Louis will need to go to Detroit for two on Monday, if within 2 games of any tie breaker. Can't believe they will get 58 or 60 games in this season.

  7. 9/25/20 (Chicago) - The Chicago White Sox have announced major changes to the organization. Jose Abreu has been named Player/Executive Vice President and General Manager. Jose will be responsible for recruiting additional Cubans to form a championship ball club. "I pledged Jose Abreu would be a White Sox for life, and this opportunity will provide it" said White Sox owner Jerry Reinsdorf.

Tim Anderson has been promoted to Player / Manager. Tim Anderson has been the leader of the club since being drafted in 2014, and deposing of clubhouse leader and former White Sox manager Drake LaRoche in 2016. Reinsdorf gave his blessing. "Tim has been the straw that has stirred the drink since being promoted to the big league club. This is our first professional managerial candidate in decades, and I believe he exemplifies the leadership and knowledge sorely lacking in our previous several managers.

In a move likely to cause great consternation across SoxTalk.com, James McCann has been named Player / Pitching Coach. In this role, James is expected to continue to catch Lucas Giolito and Dane Dunning, work to teach Yasmani Grandal how to catch, call and block pitches in the dirt. James McCann will also be responsible for developing game plans for opposing lineups, a concept new to this organization.

    All changes are effective immediately.

One of the things that defined 2019 was the lack of professionalism from the organization. You had Hahn outright lying to the fanbase the whole offseason so he could sell season tickets, you had Stone publicly complaining about the fans demanding more after years of mediocrity, and you had Renteria saying "F*** you" publicly when someone in the press dared to ask him how he incorporated any analytics into his decision making when it was relevant to what they were discussing at the time.

They seem to be ok with this.

Lack of class and professionalism has been a hallmark of Reinsdorf's organizations. Who wants to go to a place where a boss is allowed to physically choke a subordinate without any consequences?

Posters here claim the White Sox managerial job is a "dream job", but no competent professional is going to work for Jerry and the other two. You only attract former players or current coaches with nowhere else to go. Managers can't bring in their coaches, they have a collection of Jerry's broken toys lined up for you that aren't going anywhere as long as Jerry is there. Cooper has seen ALL THREE NORTH KOREAN SUPREME LEADERS come and go and is somehow still here.

The fish rots at the head, and it's been rotting for an extremely long time. Don't expect it to change until the fish is gone and time passes for the stench to clear.

You could tell  that the Sox saw Rodon as some amazing “acquisition” that was returning down the stretch.  You have two dominant lefties in the pen now, and he’s not one.

Kenny and Hahn messaging their egos, hoping for something else to brag about.

Why do you keep mentioning GarPax? They’re gone, thankfully.

The White Sox equivalent remains here, though without the overall winning record or at least some legitimate playoff success. Jerry hasn't stepped down here yet, until it happens they will never leave. If Jerry still had last call on the Bulls, Gar Pax would still be there, the coach might be as well.

I think the Sox made a mistake firing Ozzie Guillen in the first place. He brought the organization a World Series Championship and a few Division Championships and would stick up for his players in tough situations. I think they should consider bringing him back.

    Again, Kenny's ego.

“He’s an idiot. He’s selfish. That’s why we don’t miss him,”

    - Kenny Williams (-0.2 WAR), commenting on one of if not the best player in franchise history, Frank Thomas (68.3 WAR).

It’s the same Owner who kept Jim Boylen around for so long. Unfortunately Ricky won’t go anywhere for the next 2-3 years at a minimum.

Don't see Reinsdorf running the show approaching 90, between COVID and the CBA, next year may likely be his last season.

A new ownership will sweep out the rot that has built here since the Ronald Wilson Reagan Administration (Cooper hired in 1988).

White Sox Gar / Pax, RR, Weekend at Cooper's and the whole dumpster fire. Like Michael has done once Jerry stepped aside with the Bulls.

You don’t bring a guy with his history of wildness into a situation where he can’t throw his best pitch a lot (slider)

Hahn gave him yet another match, and it was struck. Can't blame the arsonist on this one (the other two, yes).  If this debacle takes Rodon off of any playoff roster consideration, then today's loss was worth it.

No competent Front Office throws a poor performer with no experience into a new role coming off a 45 day IL stint into meaningful games. Gar / Pax is not competent, hence Rodon Time with four games to go!!!

If Rodon is on the playoff roster, that is a either a dead spot or one that will once again come back to bite the Sox on the ass.

WE are, a while ago. It's a matter of when Jerry let's Hahn can him.

Why should either stay? Bringing Rodon up for the playoffs because he struck out Nicky Delmonico a few times, in a role he has never held, is asinine.

Sitting on your hands at the trade deadline with a team that has a chance to win it was asinine. Both Ricks are in over the heads, Jerry needs to leave and professionals need to clear out Gar Pax like the Bulls successfully did.

Carlos Rodon healthy is a MUCH better option than a healthy Detwiler or Cishek right now.  Even a mostly healthy Rodon is a better option than those guys.  Dragging 1980 into it for no good reason just shows it is about your feelings.

Wrong again, Rodon is healthy, he's not a relief pitcher, he's never been a relief pitcher, the only strikes he can throw are meat, and he sucks ass.

Detwiler was the better option now, period.
