Fair enough. If Sheets was brought up to play in right that’s bananas.

Nice try Twinkies....piss off why don't ya.
The aforementioned Lawrence Holmes can release his buttcheeks for one day.

Not going to happen.
Sheets plays before Eloy does? The calculus is confusing.

Cannot wait for Eloy in Right Field

Sheets in....Sox Win
Random stray thought. Eloy isn’t sitting and watching Sheets play RF

It was sad to see Burr go….

Exactly, Benetti always touts looking at the analytics and if you look at fangraphs the Twins have a 2.2% chance of winning the division. So I guess for some reason he ignores the numbers when he sees fit.
Between Benetti and Lawrence Holmes good grief oh the fear

Broadcast was showing Sox have scored 16(?) straight runs the manufactured way - no home runs. Refreshing to see them string together some singles and doubles tonight.
But that’s been how they score all year.

Sheets needs to be taken out after his AB.
Imagining the defense with Burger and Sheets in the game. *gasp*

Gio has nothing tonight though, I'm not sure I want him facing 456 with his D stuff.
The dry ball.

Vaughn is going to hit against RHP eventually. He should be in LF for the foreseeable future. Eloy can DH.
It should end up that way. But Eloy will get another shot

Thinking a little bit more about it, Sheets also allows the Sox to DH or rest Abreu, while keeping Vaughn in RF and Yas behind the plate.
Gosh, you have to also wonder if Abreu will be DHing at this point.

The hold up was Escobar getting hurt.
Also, it's unclear what's going on with the AZ front office in general.
The basic Escobar deal is probably set. The extra bits we have heard about could be for an expanded deal for the outfielder. Or just a deal for the outfielder by itself. Waiting to clear the decks on that possibility.

We can no longer trade 17 year olds since the Tatis Jr trade 👎 it's too scary
Hahn may be locked in a room alone juggling steel bearings with one hand, a 3 finger glass of scotch in the other considering this.
-
Besides, minor moves like this wouldn’t require JRs involvement on any level. Hahn knows his parameters, and makes the decisions.

I am guessing the decision on whether they can afford EE has already been made at the upper management level, and now it is the lower level decision of deciding if they can get a deal done or not.
Correct. If a death in the family stopped the franchise from doing business in a timely manner, that would signal a problem with delegation. Not a good way to run a business.

I'm not giving up on him. Put up super impressive stats in DSL at 17 years old. Great eye at the plate. Let's see how he does in AZL.
I feel you. What can go wrong?

Holy crap. The just took a five year span of burning this to the ground, getting amazing returns, even in hindsight, for the players they originally had on the roster, and turning this into a playoff team last year, and a first place team this year. We have six of our own 1st round draft picks on this roster.
You can nitpick all you want at some of the moves along the way, but you can't say they don't have vision. You might not like their vision, but they also have some fairly solid results to back up what they have done so far.
That vision has been more a Rays type vision though. So…they need to graduate to building the minors the more traditional way. Somthing not seen yet

A 2nd generation rebuild could be wildly successful. Imagine the value our young core has given their great contracts. Unprecedented value.
There’s no need to rebuild. They built. Question is what the Sox will do when the young players want a real free market deal instead of the unproven early deals they were willing to sign when they were desperate for cash and security. Kudos to the Sox for being able to get those done so far. It wont be that easy next time. Maybe these guys will be dealt first and the Sox pick up some Rays type deals. Preferably a lot of the pressure would be alleviated if they were better at signing international free agents. (Non Cubans lol)

This is irrelevant to what we are talking about here though. We aren't talking about future payroll, we are talking about making this team stronger now and people are talking about trading off the major league roster while also saying the minors are weak. Come on now
If you were following the particulars of the conversation, there were no real trade proposals, just hypotheticals to challenge people on their perceptions of certain players being untouchable.

The Sox are not and will not be the rays. This is long play by the organization here, they have stocked their minors and are awesome at scouting. They trade people like Adames because they can replace him immediately. The Sox aren't gonna do that by trading someone off the major league roster today.
We’ll see what happens when it is time to pay up. Can see them paying Giolito, but when Kopech becomes a 20 game winner and wants 300 million. And Robert. And Eloy. We already know they won’t pay Rodon.
AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!

So Eloy and Vaughn make the switch? Interesting. But that seems more correct than Sheets in right and Eloy DHing. Just on the pecking order level.
