  1. He's not a starter though in 2021. He will be in 2022. If we use Chris Sale as a template, Sale pitched 71 innings in 2011. Pitched a little more than 190 in 2012.
  2. In addition, and there was an article about this last year, I don't think Colome's success for us was simply smoke and mirrors. Dude has been a consistent closer for awhile. But his success is largely reliant on him being able to spot his cutter. When he can't do that, he's going to get hit really hard. He couldn't do that through the first part of this year.
  3. I would be down in one of these upcoming starts to have him stretched out and maybe even start. But if ReyLo keeps throwing like this, why bother?
  4. Huh? Dude literally sucked so badly in the first month with the Twins that he had to be removed from the Closers role. The ERA has gone down but a lot of that was use in low leverage situations. I supposed maybe he was magic in a White Sox uniform but we would be crapping our collective pants in May when Bummer or Kopech were inserted in the Closers role. I actually was for signing Colome last year but I was wrong. I will say Colome is truly a White Sox legend. Was lights out for us and then imploded for the Twins. Can't get much better than that.
  5. Just want to remind people that the Twins took 3 of 4 against Houston in Houston over the weekend. It's baseball. Stuff happens. Get em tomorrow I guess. It seems like the Big Bastard is our losing streak shield.
  6. Think there have been a few times this year where the TV radar gun has been lower than the Stadium which is likely what DJ is going after. Also what the hell was Goodwin doing?
  7. He's basically an old man player (Power, low average, no D) and he isn't even hitting his very low ceiling. Nice pick off by ReyLo
  8. Continuing our collective lovefest for Cesar right now.
  9. This broadcast reminds me of a more adult version of the Nickelodeon playoffs broadcast that the Bears had last year.
  10. I think Grandal is one of those guys you don't realize you miss until he is gone. Thank god he's back soon.
  11. Thinking out loud here but is it possible that having to swing the bat contributed to this? I know one of deGrom's numerous IL trips was caused by having to swing the bat and then he complained about soreness in his arm. Carlos likely hasn't taken any at bats for at least three years now, probably four? His velocity was great on Saturday. He was still touching 97 when he came out.
  12. Of course he goes one, two, three against us. Get em tomorrow.
  13. My namesake is up in the bullpen. Should be an adventure in the ninth.
  14. I feel like Cesar is destined to become a fan favourite around the South Side.
  15. The good news is it seems that vaccinated people are far less likely to have a serious case. I know vaccinated people who contracted it who said they had mild symptoms for a few days and that was it. Benetti was high risk, if I recall.
  16. It's a good problem to have right? The reason I like Dallas to start is he is typically good for three or four innings. I think Cease's stuff is pretty electric but using him in relief in the playoffs might allow us to avoid the worst of him. Was at the start at Yankee Stadium where he no hit the Yankees for four innings before getting shelled. I'm also just skeptical of using someone with a fastball that doesn't top 80mph in a high leverage relief situation in the playoffs. Also, on another topic, hoping the Sox win the ALDS at Yankee Stadium so I can go and watch their fans be miserable. Having lived in NYC for nearly a decade, they are the worst.
  17. I think they see Contreras as their version of Abreu. But he's still not under team control past 2023 and his regression has been pretty stark. I could see Jose winning an MVP after 2018. I can't see it with Contreras. I suppose Madrigal is their TA. He still hasn't played a game for them. They do have Happ, who if he rebounds, could be very good. But I also don't think Happ has the ceiling that someone like Moncada has. But the pitching is pretty bleak. And the guys they have acquired are still a little while away. Realistically, they use the payroll they have next year to lock up Contreras long term and maybe someone like Hendricks as well. And they likely try to make a free agent splash but it'll likely be more modest.
  18. I also just think that Heur and Madrigal weren't helping us win games this year. Kimbrel will. He also just makes the rest of the guys better. Bummer has pitched much better since Kimbrel's arrival. I'm already picturing game 4 of the ALDS. Keuchel for 4. Cease in the fifth, Bummer in the sixth, Kopech in the seventh, Kimbrel in the eighth, and Hendriks slams the door. Other team ain't scoring on us.
