  1. Think there have been a few times this year where the TV radar gun has been lower than the Stadium which is likely what DJ is going after. Also what the hell was Goodwin doing?
  2. He's basically an old man player (Power, low average, no D) and he isn't even hitting his very low ceiling. Nice pick off by ReyLo
  3. Continuing our collective lovefest for Cesar right now.
  4. This broadcast reminds me of a more adult version of the Nickelodeon playoffs broadcast that the Bears had last year.
  5. I think Grandal is one of those guys you don't realize you miss until he is gone. Thank god he's back soon.
  6. Thinking out loud here but is it possible that having to swing the bat contributed to this? I know one of deGrom's numerous IL trips was caused by having to swing the bat and then he complained about soreness in his arm. Carlos likely hasn't taken any at bats for at least three years now, probably four? His velocity was great on Saturday. He was still touching 97 when he came out.
  7. Of course he goes one, two, three against us. Get em tomorrow.
  8. My namesake is up in the bullpen. Should be an adventure in the ninth.
  9. I feel like Cesar is destined to become a fan favourite around the South Side.
  10. The good news is it seems that vaccinated people are far less likely to have a serious case. I know vaccinated people who contracted it who said they had mild symptoms for a few days and that was it. Benetti was high risk, if I recall.
  11. It's a good problem to have right? The reason I like Dallas to start is he is typically good for three or four innings. I think Cease's stuff is pretty electric but using him in relief in the playoffs might allow us to avoid the worst of him. Was at the start at Yankee Stadium where he no hit the Yankees for four innings before getting shelled. I'm also just skeptical of using someone with a fastball that doesn't top 80mph in a high leverage relief situation in the playoffs. Also, on another topic, hoping the Sox win the ALDS at Yankee Stadium so I can go and watch their fans be miserable. Having lived in NYC for nearly a decade, they are the worst.
  12. I think they see Contreras as their version of Abreu. But he's still not under team control past 2023 and his regression has been pretty stark. I could see Jose winning an MVP after 2018. I can't see it with Contreras. I suppose Madrigal is their TA. He still hasn't played a game for them. They do have Happ, who if he rebounds, could be very good. But I also don't think Happ has the ceiling that someone like Moncada has. But the pitching is pretty bleak. And the guys they have acquired are still a little while away. Realistically, they use the payroll they have next year to lock up Contreras long term and maybe someone like Hendricks as well. And they likely try to make a free agent splash but it'll likely be more modest.
  13. I also just think that Heur and Madrigal weren't helping us win games this year. Kimbrel will. He also just makes the rest of the guys better. Bummer has pitched much better since Kimbrel's arrival. I'm already picturing game 4 of the ALDS. Keuchel for 4. Cease in the fifth, Bummer in the sixth, Kopech in the seventh, Kimbrel in the eighth, and Hendriks slams the door. Other team ain't scoring on us.
  14. Someone posted this but apparently Kimbrel has allowed 3 or more runs within the first five or six appearances he has had on a new team. It might mean nothing but it also could just mean it sometimes takes him a second to adjust to a new setting. Could have just been amped to face his old team. He looked great in his games against Cleveland. And looked solid on Saturday.
  15. Dude's a ballplayer. He also hustles as much as Nick. And his baseball smarts are just much better at this point. Really good pick up.
  16. I love how the more you go down the rabbit hole, the more obscure and interesting things you can find about Buehrle's numbers.
  17. Yeah! Remember that. I swear he did it against Cleveland. Buehrle was an artist when it came to that pickoff.
  18. If this is the only hit he gives up, that sucks. Anyone remember when Buehrle faced the minimum against Cleveland and gave up only one hit? I think it was 04, the same game Magglio got hurt but not entirely sure.
