Holes in my Sox

In my first post on the forum I mentioned that the Cardinals are my primary team, but always root for the Sox in the AL. I also stated that I was frustrated with the Cards for their lack of will to win by adding talent this offseason and was more excited to watch the Sox than the Cards for the first time. While I’m still excited to watch what I think will be a great Sox team, I’m extremely happy to have been wrong about the Cardinals and see them make moves to win the division and not tread water hoping for the best.

Yeah, I know it wouldn’t happen. I was just thinking out loud, so to speak. The Cards need to get younger, the Sox rotation with Flaherty would be amazing, and I don’t think Flaherty sticks with St. Louis once his opportunity to leave comes.

If they wanted to make a big trade I’d love to see them go for Jack Flaherty. As a fan of both teams it’s a win-win for me 😁. Sox get another great pitcher, who is controlled for a while and is friends with Giolito, and the Cardinals get some youth. Wouldn’t be cheap for the Sox, but may be worth it. I’m not sure the Cards would do it, but I’m at the point I think the Cardinals front office is pretty inept at this point.

As a lifelong Cardinals fan, I love Molina. That being said, I don't know that his ego will allow him to sign anywhere as a backup. He still sees himself as the starter and recently said that if he doesn't get the contract he wants, he may retire. I don't think that actually happens and I think he will ultimately come to terms with the Cardinals, but I suppose if he were to ever consider taking a role as a backup it would be for Tony.

Thanks for all the welcomes. As for Tony, he helped bring 2 champions to St. Louis so I’ll always think highly of him. When he’s given a good team and can get them all to buy in to his system, a team can do amazing things. Even the years without a championship, there were exciting seasons. Of course having the right players helps and I believe the White Sox have an exciting roster. Having said all that, there were definitely frustrating times and questionable moves, but I think you’ll get that with anyone. He can be an interesting guy. So, assuming that he hasn’t lost it after all these years out of the dugout and he can adapt to the changes in the game since then I think it could be a good thing. It’s really difficult to tell how it’ll go until all the personalities get together. I have nothing but respect for him on the field. Some of his decisions off the field....that’s for another thread.

Hello everyone! I just found the board a couple of weeks ago and this is my first post. I'm from Southern Illinois and I am primarily a St. Louis Cardinals fan, but I've always liked the White Sox as well. Being from Illinois is part of that, as is my disdain for the Cubs 😁. Anyway, I am honestly more excited to watch the Sox this year than the Cardinals. It's nice to see a team seeing their division weakening and then making additions to the roster to make themselves dominant. I just wanted to say hello to everyone and share my excitement to really root on the White Sox this year. As a noob I won't agree or disagree with anyone's take on these signings, but again, it's nice to see a team that appears to be trying. Hendriks seems like a good add to me!
