January 29, 20215 yr Good. It's about damn time Colorado made some moves. They need to sell off, badly. If I were them, I'd sell Arenando for literally anything. Just get his contract out of the way as they aren't going anywhere. I'd trade German Marquez for an absolute haul (hopefully to the white sox). I'd play the youngsters, see whaat I have, and then try to find a way to break the SP gap at Coors.
January 29, 20215 yr He was almost traded to the Mets so had to figure he was going to be moved somewhere though I figured it would be to the Dodgers.

He's good but teams could have had him when he was a free agent. It's like the Bears trading for DeShaun Watson.

The one tough thing is that Nolan has an opt-out I think after this year. So any team trading for him has to consider that risk. Edited January 29, 20215 yr by iWiN4PreP
January 29, 20215 yr You can't give them much not only because of the contract but also the opt Outs. The opt outs mean if he is great he might opt out and if not you are stuck with the contract so you only get the downside of the big contract
January 29, 20215 yr The Arenado thing has seemingly dragged on for five years. IMO They really missed the haul they were looking for when they didn't deal him right before they signed that large extension

January 29, 20215 yr The only way the Cards take the entire contract is if the Rockies take back a bad contract (Carpenter, Mikolas). That's why the Mets deal fell apart.
January 29, 20215 yr The Arenado to the Cards thing is a rumor that happens basically every year and never materializes. Highly, highly doubt something comes of it.

This time it feels real tho. That tweet is brand new... players are talking to each other, Arenando seems to be OK with voiding the no trade clause. IMO this looks like it happens. It makes way too much sense for the Rockies... they are going NOWHERE looking up at Dodgers + Padres
January 30, 20215 yr It looks like Colorado is finally committing to a rebuild. Edited January 30, 20215 yr by maloney.adam
