7/7: White Sox vs The "Golden Sponge Cakes with Creamy Fillings&q
QUOTE (OilCan @ Jul 8, 2011 -> 03:16 AM) Just a ton of expectations, Greg...from the All In campaign, to the big Adam Dunn signing, expecting our hitting to come around, our defense to be adequate, and our pitching to be there. Just that our pitching has come through consistently. Not our defense and certainly not our hitting, for the price that JR is paying these guys. Just a ton of FAIL out there. I dunno. We are 6-27 vs. Minnesota with 8 losses in a row. We lose to KC consistently and Detroit. We pop the ball up. We hit weak grounders. I think my total dissatisfaction with this team is its dysfunctionality to go with the offensive offense. It's insane.

QUOTE (SpainSOXfan09 @ Jul 8, 2011 -> 03:01 AM) I agree, being negative is a natural reaction to the poor quality of the product you are witnessing. The fact that the product is consistantly piss poor compunds the negativity. But being a fan of a team has varying degrees of intensity. I popped off yesterday and that is my rant for a while. I guess people look at the situtation differently which they have a right to. Of course. And I've rooted from start to finish of Sox teams with way worse records than this team. But for some reason this team (except for the pitching) just has made me a very bad fan.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 8, 2011 -> 03:54 AM) Greg, to be honest I just cant be negative like you guys. Ever since I was a kid I never ruled anything out until the day the magic number went to 0. It may be unlikely, but im just a sports fan and its one of the few times I can be unrealistic and hope for the best, so I do it. That's good. Normally I like our team no matter what (I mean in my past fandom). I don't know why I got sick of the Sox so fast this year. I guess the pop ups and weak grounders got to me and the inability to get clutch hits. I could give it up but I'm a lifelong fan.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 8, 2011 -> 03:51 AM) From what I've heard, Reinsdorf is really pissed off about Rios. Obviously at the way he's playing and the logic in taking on the contract. Signing Dunn is one thing, while his second half last season may have suggested a drop off, not to the extreme its been, but Rios.....................The scouting reports all were he didn't seem to care, and that's exactly how he's been playing for about a year now. He should be. Unless it's all Monopoly money to him since the team ultimately makes money.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 8, 2011 -> 03:48 AM) Put the past behind you and win the next game. Some times you have bad days, sometimes its a bad week and it can even be a bad year. But you can never change the past, so lets just hope for better tomorrow. In other words, wait til next year (kidding, halfway at least)

I never thought we'd become the patsies of the Central (I mean in playing the Central). I never would have thought we couldn't compete with KC, Detroit, Minnie. Yay we can beat Cleve. once in a while.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 8, 2011 -> 03:44 AM) I get the feeling the Sox are getting close to benching Rios one way or another. He just doesn't hit line drives. Everything is either a rolled-over grounder or a lazy pop up. They can't bench these guys. They make too much money. They are here to stay. He and Dunn.

Aaron Crow just lazily gunned a pickoff throw past Hosmer at first. Yup they are the Royals. At least I get to watch 2 games.

We should bring up our AA team and let all the regulars have a few days off. Keep our pitching staff. We might win one game, if not, who cares? The regulars can't beat em either.

Aaron Crow just gave up a home run to some defensive replacement. 3-1. Royals are back in the tank after kicking our ass.

In summary, last night the Twins get smoked. Tonight own the White Sox. Last night the Royals own the Sox, tonight predictably losing at home vs. Detroit. The White Sox ... the team that won't make changes cause they are All In. Hey, Sox, three games left. Still time to make the emergency calls to Viciedo/DeAza, whomever else.

Relationship Advice Thread
QUOTE (FlySox87 @ Jul 8, 2011 -> 01:14 AM) A "great guy" doesn't get another dude's girlfriend drunk and try to sleep with her. That's a really sleazy suggestion. It's not Joe's fault she keeps calling him and wants to be with him. I mean the girl is playing with fire. If she wants to sleep around, it might as well be Joe who gets his dream girl or crush girl. My guess is she will reject him, but she's very hot it seems and was half naked in his pool for goshsakes. he's a gentleman, but if she wants to cheat Joe might as well get his dream girl for a night. My guess is he'll be rejected (I didn't see the no dick comment; what did she mean by that and when did she say that?)

QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Jul 8, 2011 -> 02:14 AM) I was one of Juan's biggest critics in April. There's really nothing offensively wrong with what he's done since May 1st. People won't listen to Hibbard tho he speaks the truth. Weird.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 8, 2011 -> 02:13 AM) He didn't say anything that was incorrect. Juan has had a nice 10 games. Not surprising. Even bad players will have a nice streak here and there when they play EVERY single day NO MATTER how poorly they're performing. Adam Dunn says: "Wait, not me."

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 8, 2011 -> 02:12 AM) Be very, very afraid of trades, especially with the rumor last night that the Sox have looked into trading Viciedo. Ugh. Awful. I'm just ready for a new chapter. If they would have fired Walker or Oz or have brought somebody up for this series it would at least show we're trying. Trading Dayan will suck.

QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Jul 8, 2011 -> 02:10 AM) I concur. If Juan was any good, he'd be 3 for 2. Great post. I like the way you point out Juan isn't the devil. Casey Anthony is the devil, not Juan.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 8, 2011 -> 02:09 AM) Twins scouting report on how to pitch to our hitters is just phenomenal. It really makes me wonder if we will even beat them once this season. This could get really interesting how many times they can beat us in a row.

It's gonna be nice if and when management finally gives up and we get some new faces in here. Dayan/DeAza, hopefully some trades as well.

It's Paulie or nothin again. I'd walk him to get to Dunn. Half serious.

I'd rather have Ozzie bat than Omar.
-

Batting Omar second (and/or Morel) should be fireable offense.

Just think, if we were playing Boston we'd prolly sweep this series. Baseball's a funny frickin game. 2 on 1 out.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 8, 2011 -> 02:01 AM) There should be the same investigation into Mark Teahen robbing the White Sox blind than there has been with Countrywide Loans. Just because he was a Sox killer, KW loved him. He's pretty darn bad.
