QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 03:08 AM) He just needs to be benched. Worst approach for any Sox hitter I can ever recall. It's amazing how it's a vicious circle, cycle. He makes so much money he has to play. But by playing him, we won't make the playoffs, will keep losing which ultimately will make the team lose money. It'd be neat if they would just bench these high paid guys who can't play anymore.

QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 03:05 AM) Big deal. He might get to be in four games in the post season if the weather is descent. I don't think it matters. He still can have a lotta fun 19 days in the regular season against his old team. Will we take a game against them all year? Law of averages mite have us 2-17?
-
I hope there are some good Sox fans at least making some good money on our faceplants vs. Minnie and the Central. Those who bet wildly on the opponent would be bringing in some good money overall. I would like to see somebody benefiting from this.
-
At least we are halfway through this misery called the Twins series. Two more days of getting owned and we can forget about the Central Division til after the AS game.
-
Can you imagine how happy Thome is being on the other side of this "rivalry?" He got to hit the home run which was our last highlight against these guys now he gets to kick our ass. On a serious note ... how long will fans show up for this? Is the Cell experience so great (if it is, awesome) that the product doesn't matter much? Or will our crowds start dwindling?
-
With our inability to beat the Central, this might be our best record at this point in the season for many years to come. Owned.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 8, 2011 -> 03:43 PM) Their job is to judge whether the state proved that she was guilty of the charges, not that she was "innocent" of them. That's why they say "Not Guilty". They did their jobs correctly. To a lot of you, I say a lot of the lawyers heard all the evidence every day and said she was guilty. If I'm on that jury, I make sure those bastards sit there several days before I let that b**** go free. They deliberated long enough to eat a few ham sandwiches. GUILTY!

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 8, 2011 -> 11:47 PM) I never knew Dan Bernstein was an Ozzie fan, but he's been suggesting all day if the Sox tank this series, that a change will be made. Thinks it could be Walker or Cora getting fired. Why would they not just fire Ozzie? It's pretty apparent he's the Marlins' next skipper, so make it happen after we go 0-4.

QUOTE (OilCan @ Jul 8, 2011 -> 11:02 PM) Dayan has played 86 games this year at AAA, the same as last year. Interesting splits. http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...&pid=493364 Scroll to the bottom of the page to see. Improvements in total number of hits, doubles, runs, RBI, walks, (less) strikeouts, AVG, OBP, SLG and OPS. Less HR by 4. Surprisingly. So he HAS become a more efficient hitter, developed a better eye at the plate, and getting on base MORE and showing more power overall. Yet...he's still in Charlotte because "we can't make room for him." Total BS. Not bringing him up for this Twins series is a FIREABLE OFFENSE. It just is. We are sitting back and letting the Twins take 4 more from us, just because we want to wait until the break to make it seem like we're not panicking. Well, these 4 losses are going to matter. They just will.

I'd try to keep four or five good starters and Santos. Any other players are now tradeable in my mind. I wish I could trust Kenny to make the right trades. But try to keep an "on paper" solid pitching corps and trade any regulars you want, except we need a new hitting coach to go with the new lineup as well. I'd prefer hitters with some speed, but not slappies like Pierre. Only Paulie hits homers any more, so trade everybody you want, KW.

QUOTE (FlySox87 @ Jul 8, 2011 -> 02:32 PM) You're not talking about fun here. And you're not talking about hooking up. You're talking about getting a girl drunk so you can have sex with her, and a girl who has a boyfriend to boot. The first part is borderline rape, and the second part is outright sleaziness. I'm not gonna act like some sort of mega-puritan like I've never had sex or even sex with a random girl, but there is nothing honorable about boozing up an underage girl and boning her. I think Joe is better than that, but I could be wrong. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Jul 8, 2011 -> 08:11 PM) Oh wow, no it's not. Talk about jumping the shark. You make it sound like he's trying to roofie her up and make her drink. Greg is saying, just hit it and quit it. And to hurry the process up, get some liquor. This happens every day. Secondly, the whole purpose is to get her to either sleep with him or leave him alone which is what Joe needs. 1.) Actually I didn't read the ages. If she is under 21 my bad on the drinking. But they were drinking the other night, so WTF? 2.) Nitetrain gets it. I agree with his last sentence fully. I'm not trying to drug her; party up and see if she wants you or not. Back then, I'd feel horrible if I were the bf. But after growing up a little(I'm 25), I wouldn't necessarily get too upset because it wasn't meant to be. If it wasn't Joe Joe that breaks her, it would be his friend or someone else. Fact: She is going to cheat because she has serious issues. The faster that BF realizes that, the better in the long term.

This is like a slow moving train you are sitting at the tracks waiting for it to pass. Four losses in a row, but the days take so long to make it a reality. Tonight will be number two of four. I may watch it until it's unwatchable again.

QUOTE (SouthSideTeacher @ Jul 8, 2011 -> 07:34 AM) I think a lot of the attention paid to this case has to do with the sheer AUDACITY of this chick. She lived off her parents, frequently wrote bad checks, and couldn't keep a job. She murdered her own daughter because she desperately longed for the 'freedom' to booze it up in the club night after night without having to return home to care for what she obviously considered to be her own ball & chain. While her parents searched for and eventually mourned the loss of the little girl, 'mom' tried to bully everyone around her into buying one of her 14 different versions of events pertaining to the baby's disappearance and death--- while her pals tagged her in facebook photos dancing on tables and showing off tattoos inspired by her 'beautiful life'. This entire series of events is disgusting. My guess is that a majority of people want to see her get what's coming to her and that's why they tune in. Great post. The audacity of the chick and the fact she is hot have definitely made it MORE of a story. God bless that little girl. I find it amazing lightning hit that tree where she was dumped shortly after the sentencing. Wow.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 8, 2011 -> 07:27 AM) Oh, and she has yet to send me a text since the "I feel you so hard" text earlier in the day. I think she either A) Has already gotten the hint I am pissed off , B) Is so embarrassed by what happened last night C) My buddy told her I was pissed off (they worked together tonight) or D) Just hasn't gotten around to it for the first time since we started constantly texting each other over a month ago. Regardless, I still keep thinking about everything. Had a softball game tonight, saw a massive barn fire in my neighborhood, went to a friends bonfire and then watched some Louie CK to take my mind off things, but almost every spare moment I had and my mind was wandering, I was thinking about her and what is going to happen. This blooooowwwwsss. This is what I don't get. You like her. You find her attractive and want to be with her and sleep with her if you were dating her. Yet you don't want to take the step to make the moves on her to see if she wants to date you. At any rate, put an end to it in some way. Either ask her if she wants to see you in a romantic way and dump her bf or just tell her you want more than she does and it's better you don't hang out any more but can chat at work.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 10:01 PM) @BSLillibridge Brent Lillibridge Positivity breeds success. I've never heard of people be successful always thinking negatively. Choose to be positive, it is a choice. It truly is a good quote by Lilly. Normally I'd agree 100 percent. But ... I'm positive we have a lousy team.

QUOTE (T R U @ Jul 8, 2011 -> 07:28 AM) With the way the season has gone so far, I wouldn't be shocked at all if he finally did get the call up and just fell right on his face.. It would just be another kick to the groin this season, and fitting with the way things have gone thus far With so many people severely under performing we should be thanking the baseball gods we are still in it How the heck can anybody say we are in it? We are the worst team in the Central Division in terms of winning head to head games. After these 19 games vs. the Central it mercifully will be over.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 8, 2011 -> 05:59 AM) Isn't Santiago probably done for the series after his workload tonight? Has anyone given any thought to sending Santiago down, going with a short pen for 3 games and inserting Dayan's bat into the lineup for the rest of the 3 game series? Then the Sox would have 4 days to figure out what to do next. Thoughts? Yes a lot of us wanted Dayan up for this series. But the Sox are determined to plod into the all star break with no changes. Hopefully after this series embarassment the changes begin.

QUOTE (SouthSideTeacher @ Jul 8, 2011 -> 04:59 AM) I was at Monday's game. My friends and I agreed NOT to boo Dunn when he came to the plate, but rather to cross our fingers and send this guy some (much needed) positive thoughts. We all went WILD when he got the base hit, and they might as well have clinched the division when he hit the homerun because the Cell went CRAZY. "Finally!" we thought, "A chance to turn it around." And then... we woke up. And it's right back to terrible. I'm trying to keep a positive outlook, maybe cause i'm stubborn by nature and I'm not one to give up, but COME ON ALREADY. I'm new to the board and I'm happy to be here. Misery loves company, I guess. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 8, 2011 -> 06:49 AM) I thought Corpse Ball circa 2009 - 2010 was as low as we'd go but WOW - talk about a HUGE disappointment of a team in 2011. All my hopes for a winning team this year are gone. From here on out I'll be watching from the perspective of changes for 2012 - both with an eye to the players and management staff. If no changes are made after the break - KW will be necessary to go. Ozzie should go already based on his handling of the team thus far... It's just embarrassing. I'll always bleed black and white and will forever watch every flipping game - but I have ZERO hope. 1.) Awesome post. Dunn is right back in the tank after the one decent game. 2.) You may be feeling black and blue after this series. Let's just hope after we lose 3 of 4 or more likely all 4 the firesale begins and changes begin fast and furious. It's very sad we didn't bring Viciedo up for this series or make any changes besides batting Omar second and Dunn one slot lower. We're basically conceding the series again. I agree with your take on Oz and KW. At the all star break, it's a fair time for KW and Oz and Jerry to deem All In a failure. If no changes are made, KW should be axed. And you are right, Oz should go. He'll be Florida manager next season. That's obvious.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 8, 2011 -> 06:29 AM) And every once and a while its up to the few to stop the many. Trials are about what can be proven by the evidence, its not about sensational theories. The burden of proof on the prosecution in a criminal trial is "beyond a reasonable doubt". If you had any doubt about the evidence you had to acquit. For all we know the Casey's father killed the granddaughter and tried to set up Casey. Casey was arguably a bad mother, but that doesnt mean that the burden of proof changes, that she had to disprove the allegations. Badger, the evidence at least got her on abusive behavior or whatever that second charge was. The mother did not know or care where her kid was for a month. If I'm on the jury I heard enough to convict her. There are some smart lawyers out there saying they were shocked at the verdict. I don't think it's a slam dunk that you guys are right and I am wrong.

QUOTE (FlySox87 @ Jul 8, 2011 -> 06:12 AM) So morals are irrelevant? I can see both sides of this, but when I was college aged, summers were for fun. She's jumping around the pool half naked, he thinks she's hot, are you saying nobody ever hooks up anymore? s*** there's a movie called Friends With Benefits coming out. She's flirting like hell with him and he can't try to have sex or we are immoral? I thought I gave good advice. If you don't want sex in a situation like that, then simply have "the talk" with her like you suggest. Tell her you want a relationship; if she doesn't quit wasting my time. That will end it as well. 2.) I got fooled. I thought he was serious. I had read the serious posts of the thread and figured it was another plea for help. Yikes I got owned by knight. I'd delete my post, but I can take a joke and gettin punked.

QUOTE (soxfan72 @ Jul 8, 2011 -> 05:15 AM) Sorry, guess I should be ok with being called a "derp newbie" even though I've been here 3 years longer than the poster who made that insult and crapped all over this thread. Just wonderful. Can we get back to Dunn being the worst I've ever seen at the MLB level? How could you be here 3 years and not post? I'd have no fingernails or hair left by pulling them out. Speak up, man (joke).

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 8, 2011 -> 12:11 AM) Dennis Miller is an idiot and that's a terrible idea, hope that helps. No cause of death, no motive, hard to prove first degree murder without. It's pretty clear that she f***ed up and is responsible for the death and tried to cover it up. That doesn't make it first degree murder. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 8, 2011 -> 03:20 AM) You're not privy to the same information the jurors have, the same legal instruction and the same deliberations. If you'd let one single fact make your vote in order to "punish" her, regardless of the states' ability to actually prove their case, then you'd make a terrible juror. Not sure why you phrased that as a contradiction of what I said? It complements it perfectly. She was found "not guilty", not "innocent", because the state didn't put on a strong enough case. You know what? A lot of people disagree with you; that there was enough put out there to convict her of the abuse charges at least!

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 8, 2011 -> 02:09 AM) Get her drunk again so I can try and bang her? Not a chance. I'm not into taking advantage of girls. Trust me, if I really wanted to force myself upon her while she was drunk, I could have probably done so last night. In fact, my friend kept saying it when she would take another bathroom break, and I had to keep telling him how s***ty that is. I'm way too nice to ever take advantage of a girl, let alone a drunk one. It sucks because a lot of asshole guys would, and probably get away with it. QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 8, 2011 -> 02:47 AM) I'm in a relationship. I've been in it since I was much younger. I love being in the relationship most times, but sometimes it's really tough to stay in love. There seems to be a lack of communication and respect. Every year it seems to costs me more and more money to go out and spend time in this relationship. Lately, everytime I get invested, it seems I am disappointed and feel like my heart has been ripped out. What to do? 1.) I didn't mean force yourself on her. That is illegal and sick. I didn't mean get her rip roaring drunk where she's unconscious. I suggested getting her buzzed or happy and make your move. This happens, uh, in bars all the time. I thought you were attracted to her and sense you really want her, maybe even to date. If you want her, go for it and see what she does. I figured it'd be easier for both parties to address this with some drinks. I am convinced she won't have sex with your anyway. She's using you so to speak for emotional support and she has fun in your presence. You are a good person obviously. But if you want to finally end it, I suggested to go for it and either she'll embrace it and you'll be dating or she will reject you and that will be that. Am I off base here? I said there was a girl I hung out with as a friend that I wanted to date asked me to a wedding as a date. I went with her, we both got half drunk, I made my move, I found out she didn't want me that way. I finally knew. We continued to do things together; it wasnt even awkward the next day cause we both were buzzed. 2.) Wow. Are you married? Close to being engaged? You said you've been together a long long time. In my experience, people that date a long long time ultimately "tire of each other" a bit if they do not take the next exciting step (engagement, marriage, kids). I don't know how old you are and all that, if you are in the working world or in college. The "lack of respect" thing bothers me. Is she tiring of you? Are you tiring of her? You said at most times you "love being in the relationship." If that is still the case, then perhaps she is your future wife. If you love being with her "most" of the time, that's good. If not, if you are annoyed by her and feel "no respect" you may need to tell her you'd like to see other people. That can really change her attitude in a hurry. Or she'll agree and you'll know she is sick of the relationship.

Official greg don't jump off a ledge until Sunday thread
greg775 replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Cmon Caufield, you know we're going to lose 3 of 4 minimum, likely all 4. Game Two like you said sounds like the automatic 0-2. -
If we had brought him up for this series, we'd have gone 2-2. It's just true. Now we are headed for 0-4 or 1-3 if there's a miracle.
