  1. You people are all smart baseball people. Can you comment on Lilly's approach at the plate? It is ridiculous IMO. It's really really dumb and bad.
  2. Another hack pitcher avoids getting knocked out by the Sox. Amazing. Five innings, three runs. He is a very very bad pitcher.
  3. Lilly's swing is too long. There I said it. I'm down on Lilly. Hit the f***ing ball.
  4. OK I just read more on tis case. I mean use some f***ing common sense. Casey Anthony's own mother called 911 when she said the car smelled like a dead body was in there and didn't get answers from her daughter about how the little girl was missing a month! 2.) The girl was missing a f***ing month before mama said anything. Mama Casey then was uncooperative. To go a month without reporting her missing because she wanted to do the investigation herself?? And she gets off scott free? I mean my god, couldn't they get her on some charge?? A mom can go a month without telling anybody her kid is gone??? And she partied in the interim? What did she do each and every night daughter was missing and cops weren't told??
  5. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Jul 5, 2011 -> 10:24 PM) I think it's like a year max for each of those 4 lying charges, and she's already been in jail almost 3 years, so....not likely. I did not realize she's been in jail three years. I plead ignorance in not following the case. There was no bail? Wow. Where did she serve this time. 3 years is a pretty long time for a young mother who likes to party. That's something I guess. If the judge would give her the max on the lying to police charges, that'd be nice, at least 5-6 years total in the slammer for this alleged witch.
  6. Is there any chance the judge could give the mom/alleged murderer the strictest sentence on the minor charges she was found guilty of? I mean in a f***ing murder case you shouldn't be lying to the police. I assume she could get a few years in jail if the judge goes max. sentence. He'd also be a fricking hero. Can he do that?? Will he do that?? Serious question here.
  7. I almost started my first thread cause I'm off work today and nobody had started one Good job starting it. Go SOX! I plan on watching this game on KC-TV, not MLB. I'm in a 'love Jake Peavy' period in the season. I've been in 'hate Jake' mode before. Hope he keeps it going.
  8. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Jul 5, 2011 -> 10:10 PM) Not worth it. Why would granny take the heat for her granddaughter? Didn't she feel terrible for her greatgrandaughter?
  9. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 5, 2011 -> 09:44 PM) It's too bad what happened today. Unfortunately, somebody will probably try to take the law into their own hands. She better have some good security, or get in the witness protection program. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 5, 2011 -> 10:07 PM) The only thing the prosecutors could have done differently was not gone for the jugular with a first degree murder charge. Maybe charge the family with manslaughter or something that is easier to pitch to a jury. Without really being active in the case its hard to second guess, you can only rely on what newspapers report and Id say 50% of that is fact at best. Here is an article that talks about some of the issues with going for the Death Penalty. http://www.gainesville.com/article/2011070...?p=1&tc=pgp Personally I probably wouldnt have gone for it, Id have let the Defense make their arguments that Casey was abused by her father, etc. and say while that makes her sympathetic, while it makes her a victim, it doesnt make her daughter any less of a victim, and the evidence is clear, the child died because of someones negligence, someone has to be responsible, whether its the grandfather, grandmother or daughter, someone let the child drown. I think you can convince a jury to give out 3 manslaughter charges and call it a day. 1.) Really? You really believe somebody will harm the mom? Nobody hurt OJ. 2.) Great great post. Makes real sense to me. Why did they get greedy? Serious question: Why is this case now closed? OK, a jury said mom didn't do it? Well, Florida, who did?? So the government is saying, 'We KNOW mom did it but jury wouldn't convict. Case closed.'
  10. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Jul 5, 2011 -> 09:31 PM) I think he meant for perjury. Yes, why wouldn't she go on trial now for perjury?
  11. It is sad that the prosecution did indicate after the trial that there are 100 more cases now to work on that are just as horrible but haven't received the news attention. All these horrible crimes. One has to wonder what would have happened in this case with no publicity at all. Crimes against kids are so sad. So people ... how did this child die? If she's innocent ... what the f*** happened? It's like the OJ case? Who else coulda done it? Uh, nobody so case closed??
  12. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Jul 5, 2011 -> 08:45 PM) The defense had the grandmother testify that it was SHE, not Casey, who made the searches. The prosecution later showed that the grandmother was on to her work computer at the time, so she pretty blatantly perjured herself. Well shouldn't granny go on trial? What was granny's reason for looking up information on that kind of stuff?
  13. QUOTE (SouthSideTeacher @ Jul 5, 2011 -> 08:48 PM) 1. How any man in their right mind could find this murderous liar HOT--or even attractive in the least-- is beyond me. 2. 2 words.... street justice. Street justice doesn't work. Solves nothing.
  14. Seriously folks, how did they justify the mom checking the internet for articles on neckbreaking and chloroform. Did she admit in court she had thoughts of killing her child but thought better of it, then wham, suddenly unfortunately the child died anyway?? I pray for all of us and our souls. This world can be a joke,
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 5, 2011 -> 05:23 PM) One thing that should be noted is a lot of the times, we rip on the Sox players in late inning situations for swinging out of their asses. AJP's two strike swing last night was phenomenal, and he accomplished exactly what he set out to do with that swing. Him and Pierre have really played well the last 10 days or so. Good point. I wish the Sox would do more of that. The Sox have done a nice job of coming from behind lately. That was unheard of for such a long stretch.
  16. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 5, 2011 -> 08:22 PM) Would have liked to hear that. The talk of Peavy's intensity winning ballgames is starting to rank up there with Rowand's grindiness on the annoying level. Sort of true. I will say I kind of like Peavy's intensity, though that article where he called for more passion was just cliche-drivel. Funny thing about Rowand. Rip him all you want but we have not replaced him. Since '05 he's still the best option we've had.
  17. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Jul 5, 2011 -> 07:41 PM) Their defense was a story that is completely incoherent and depends on the word of people (Casey and her parents) who are known to be liars. Sorry, but I think any doubt about her guilt is unreasonable. You don't do google searches for "how to make chloroform" and "neckbreaking", then have your daughter go missing for a month (which you don't report because you're busy partying), and have the trunk of your car have traces of chloroform and the stench of death....all as a coincidence. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 5, 2011 -> 07:43 PM) Can someone tell me why I should care about this case? How many kids get killed on a daily basis here in Chicago? QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 5, 2011 -> 08:02 PM) Because she is pretty and white, duh... QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jul 5, 2011 -> 08:15 PM) What makes the verdict even worse is that she is probably going to get rich off of killing that little girl because our society is full of a bunch of f***ing idiots who will watch her interviews, buy her book, etc. 1.) If she did google searches on chloroform and neckbreaking and the child ends up murdered, and there is C in the trunk, my gosh I have to find her guilty or I at least don't leave the juror's room without it being a hung jury. Cmon folks. The child is dead and this happened? The mom doesn't deserve to walk. 2.) I think you should care just because it's horrible. But you are right, I'm sure there are pitiful horrible stories in the inner city on a daily basis that get no attention. 3.) That is sad but prolly true. I would hate to be in on production meetings where people actually say that when they plan coverage of stories. Pretty, white, child dead ... this is our story to run with until the last day of the trial. Way of the world, but pretty sad if other stories get killed cause of race reasons. 4.) Yeah that is really sad. She's going to be a rich celebrity. Why? Cause she got acquitted of murder of her own f***ing kid. And the poor kid. Has no say. I'm sick.
  18. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 5, 2011 -> 03:56 PM) Continuing to give Rios 4 or 5 ABs per game isn't going to help us win a division either. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 5, 2011 -> 04:13 PM) Something I've noticed about Rios lately is that it seems to not be a natural instinct for him to hustle. It's like he had to remind himself to run a pop up out in Colorado the day after he got benched. Then in Chicago, he had a soft hit up the middle (that Castro almost fielded) where he was jogging to first the second he hit the ball. Rios is stealing money. I'll have to copy Les Grobstein's show and say, 'He's a bum.' At least in baseball terms. Like Fathom said, he can't hustle, he has no instinct to hustle. He's a baseball bum. He's not a bum in real life because he's made millions of dollars and is in the upper echelon of society. You are all right, though. Nobody's going to acquire him and pay that salary, nobody. Sox need to cut their losses, however, and pay half of it or more just to get rid of him.
  19. Obviously this .500 team needs help if it hopes to even win the division much less do anything in the playoffs. We already have a great bat in the minors ready to come up. But to merely substitute Dayan for Quentin accomplishes nothing. Kenny gets paid to make good deals; I hope this one isn't another Jackson-type flop.
  20. I was out doing the fireworks thing and got to see the last 3 innings on the Royals replay here. That was so cool our fans made Dunn come out for a curtain call. Nobody wants the big lug to fail. None of us want to laugh at him. It was a great moment on the holiday when the crowd kept cheering and had him do the curtain call. The Sox dugout seemed extremely happy for Dunn, which makes me believe he probably is a good guy that his teammates want to do well. Cmon Adam, the crowd had to pick u up tonight, just do what you did on that home run 4 times a week the rest of the year and you'll be beloved like Paulie. We'd take it 6 times a week as well. The only good thing about the Sox play of late besides the starting pitching is the team's not quitting and bagging some comeback victories. We'd be in quite a slump without this resiliency and coming from behind lately.
  21. I want changes as much as the next guy, but why not trade them Dunn and/or Rios? Rios needs a change of scenery again and Atlanta might bite if we paid a lot of the salary. CQ may finally be figuring it out this season. He's definitely improved his defense. Many people on this board wanted to DFA him last year for his bad defense or at least send him down. He's gotten pretty good. The Sox should be trying to do everything in their power to deal Rios/Dunn/Pierre, not CQ. Not for a pitcher. I feel strongly it'd be dumb to trade one of the only productive hitters in our lineup the first half for a pitcher. I mean why would we trade offense?? We gots no offense to speak of! Wouldn't some of you be pissed to see us trade CQ for a f***ing pitcher?? The idea is to add Dayan's bat to supplement our good hitters. That means dumping Juan for a prospect. We don't want to dump a good hitter to replace him with a good hitter (Dayan). To improve to where we might be a division contender, we need to add Dayan and drop Juan. Then you got Dayan, Rios (yuk) and CQ in the outfield! Potentially you ADD to the lineup this way.
  22. Dunn hitting a home run is a big story. And we needed it at the time. If he can get it going we might be able to beat these Central teams. Good to win it in come from behind fashion ... again. Better keep scoring five or more vs. KC. They will score some on us.
  23. The White Sox are a f***ing joke. They cannot hit Jeff Francis. I am out. Happy 4th.
