  1. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 06:21 PM) Chavez was definitely media created, Schmidt they have been scouting. He does have a $10.5 million option for next year with a $3 million or $3.5 buyout. If you're going to play in the World Series, 4 outstanding starters would be a huge advantage. There's only one problem. If he was the Schmidt of the past 2 years, I'd say yes. However, he has a 5.11 era in the NL and has already had a DL stint this year. He is not, at least to this point, an outstanding starter.
  2. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 06:20 PM) There's rumors in SF, too. And the Sox scouts have been looking at him for a while now. What's his era after the rock job that San Diego gave him today? He'd get shelled in the Cell.
  3. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 06:18 PM) I'm baffled. Jeff Bajenaru is better than at least, quite possibly two relievers currently in the White Sox 'pen, yet he's still down at Charlotte. He's certainly better than Walker, and he's probably better than Vizcaino. If Baj came up here, I wouldn't expect domination, but I think he could give us an ERA around 4.00, which would be good enough for your sixth guy out of the 'pen. Why Kevin Walker ever sniffed our roster this season is beyond me. Baj deserves a shot, hopefully we see him this year. If not, I am going to start wondering whether he is even on the Sox radar screen anymore.
  4. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 06:17 PM) Since the Sox are scouting him considerably, he's very realistic. Not with his option for next year, not gonna happen. Most of this hype on both Chavez and Schmidt is Chicago media created bulls***.
  5. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 06:14 PM) He's better than Duque and McCarthy, and quite possibly better than Contreras. No kidding, but he is not a realistic option for the reasons I stated.
  6. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 06:10 PM) When's the last time Iguchi got a hit with RISP? He has cooled off considerably. His average seems to be heading into the .270's.
  7. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 06:07 PM) I've been wanting another starter for a while now. But you're right, I just wanted one since Friday. Buehrle isn't a good pitcher. Schmidt has been getting rocked all year. He's always had arm problems. He's been hurt already this year. He has like a 10.5 million dollar option for next season. Explain to me why we want him again.
  8. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 06:06 PM) No offense but we didn't lose to the A's we lost to ourselves. Well however you wanna call it, these trade ideas always come up after we play a bad game.
  9. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 06:04 PM) I don't care, he's still better than Duque and McCarthy. And Eyre would look great in our pen. We don't need another pitcher. We lose a few games to the hottest team over the past month and you're calling for a guy with chronic arm problems and a huge option for next season. We will use 3 starters in the playoffs, possibly 4 in a long series. We don't need Schmidt.
  10. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 06:00 PM) Well guys this is just one of those games, Konerko was complaining about the double in the 6th inning, he thought it was foul. Widger complained too. But bad things happened and probably would've happened even if the ball was foul. The Sox need to make sure this type of scheduling doesn't happen again too. Not making excuses but a trip like this is totally out of whack ... 3 games to Detroit, fly out to Oakland for three, and then come back and play at home on a Monday. That is some really messed up scheduling, not to mention what Rooney said about 6 games in Oakland vs. 3 in Chicago two years in a row. What I wanna know is, why are we even playing them more than 6 times for two years in a row?
  11. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 06:00 PM) Oh there is a silver lining, you what it is it?? We don't have to play in Oakland anymore this year. Exactly, I'll take 2-4 in Oakland after our past performances. That's how bad its been.
  12. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 05:57 PM) Absolutely. Twins have a lot of confidence going now after winning 3 straight. We need Vlad and the Angels to step it up against them this week. As AJP told me at Soxfest, worry about the White Sox, not the Twins. The Twins aren't worrying about the White Sox. The White Sox need not worry about the Twins.
  13. I wasn't going to say it until that at-bat was over. Now the game is officially over. Go back to your regularly scheduled activities.
  14. Rooney makes a great point. We've played 6 times in Oakland in each of the past two seasons, yet they've only played us at home 3 times each of those years. Someone f***ed up the schedule making process. That's just pure bulls***.
  15. QUOTE(rafacosta @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 05:51 PM) MB chokes once again in Oakland...I hate this place! After next weekend, we are done with Oakland for the season. After the way they've played us the past few seasons, 2-4 to this point is better than anything we've seen in a while. We need to beat them at home 2 out of 3 next weekend.
  16. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 05:49 PM) No reason to burn out MB on a day where he has nothing on his pitches. Might as well save him an extra few pitches, and bring in Viz. Agreed, Ozzie sometimes never knows when to quit. Hell Buehrle had nothing today, still made it to the 7th and killed himself with that error.
  17. QUOTE(Spiff @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 05:44 PM) Way to counter anything I said, especially the part about the walnut-sized brain. If anything you just reinforced it. Well, I guess the proof is in the pudding. You hate this team, you hate the people here, I guess there's no reason for you to be here. I will reinforce from a fellow admin that if all you are going to do is post constant ripping on the team, you've really got no place on the board. Criticism is one thing. Total negativity is another.
  18. QUOTE(That funky motion @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 05:42 PM) One kind of bad game and now hes not an ace. WOW! I think the bullpen blew a couple for him also. :sleep Again, he was joking. Calm down folks.
  19. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 05:41 PM) He doesn't play well in Oakland, sort of like our entire team. There's nothing wrong with him at all. He was joking, obviously.
  20. QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 05:38 PM) and your reason is, big deal just one stupid post i had and you fools try to make something out of it, what do you want me to dig up stats on why were goin to lose Knock it off. NOW
  21. QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 05:28 PM) buehrle you piece of s***, way to blow it :finger
  22. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 04:41 PM) Lately, almost every game in which we've played a lefty, he has been on the bench. What is interesting is that he is hitting lefties at a .315 clip.
  23. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 04:39 PM) I just don't like seeing Pods be mostly used as a platoon player. I don't think that's what KW envisoned when we traded for him. He has the 4th most AB's on the team and has appeared in 68 games. (A few of which he was hurt in.) I wouldn't call that a platoon player.
  24. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 04:36 PM) Buehrle's throwing way too many balls today. I won't be surprised if that starts to hurt him a lot. Widger with our first hit, but Crede and Ozuna looked awful and leave him there. Seriously, Ozuna is not a leadoff hitter. He hasn't been very sharp, yet he only has 30 pitches. He should be fine.
