QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 03:09 PM) You need defense in the worst way, but you sign Larry Hughes for what, 13 million per year???? He led the NBA in steals last year and was All Defensive First Team. I'd take him over Michael Redd, who has racked up all of his stats the past few team on a team with a bunch of nobodies. Hughes averaged over 20 points last year with Jamison and Arenas hogging the ball as well and got to the 2nd round on a team with no center. Also, comparing the NFL and the NBA makes no sense.

QUOTE(mreye @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 05:54 PM) I don't think he could win Indiana. He'd win Indiana and it'd be the first time a Democrat won the state since Lyndon Johnson in 1964.

Still no love, you guys are killing me...

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 05:38 PM) So we already won the first two games of the series? I do believe this is the Sweep Squad. THis is the Sunday Lineup special.

Wish I could see that Cub fan who told me Patterson was better than Rowand right now. Hey buddy, EAT s***! Muahahhahhahhahahh I love it.

QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 02:43 PM) Yeah, I know, but how many? Couple thou? You can probably get 2, just get there about a hour and a half beforehand.

Walk up to the game and about a hour before you'll be able to get premium lower box if you're willing to pay. They usually release some of those tickets just a few hours before the game.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 05:50 PM) Yes, thank you...we may very well have an open slot at 1b next year...I think he'd be a tolerable fit and he might be able to generate as much offense as Konerko...and I doubt he could run any slower. I think what you will see next year is Dye at 1B, Anderson/Everett platoon in RF and Konerko gone with Frank as the DH.

Wow, I had Rogo as my sleeper prospect to someday reach the bigs last year. Glad to see you have him as high on your list. I really think he has a shot to become a serviceable big leaguer.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 05:47 PM) I wouldn't mind seeing if we could do something with Borchard and a pitcher not named McCarthy or Gonzalez to the Phillies in exchange for that Wagner kid who's stuck behind Thome. I believe he's out of minor league options as well, or nearly so. I am assuming you mean Ryan Howard.

As much as I have supported Joe over the years and have enjoyed interviewing and talking with him several times, his chance to be a part of the Sox MLB plans has come and gone. If there is a deadline deal, I could see him placed in the deal as a power guy for a team looking for that type of fit.
-
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 01:22 PM) First off if the Sox could deal for Schmidt and Vizquel you do it. Why would you want to be stuck with 2 more years on Omar's contract?
-
2 main factors here. 1) Do they want to pick up part of the contract? 2) Are they willing to take basically no-name prospects? If the answers to both of these questions are not yes, then no way.

Welcome aboard, we are elated to have you!

All I can really say is.... SOXTALK.com..... YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS

How ya like him now Boston? The king of blown saves is striking with regularity this season. 6.23 era with 4 blown saves and 5 losses. Let me be the first to say, thank you Oakland for Neal Cotts. Since this is happening to the Red Sawx, it just makes it even sweeter.

IU's Assembly Hall to Receive New Scoreboard
aboz56 replied to greasywheels121's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 07:25 PM) I didn't know you were another of the IU guys on here. I'll be a sophomore this year. We're definitely going to be back on the map after this year. Thanks for the news greasy, since I still have my student Id I'm going to try and get my sister to get a friend who doesn't want tickets to get them for me so I can be at the majority of the games. Of course at the MSU game I'll be wearing my green though. -
QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 07:02 PM) So already being used to the AL and being almost sure to outpitch Schmidt through the rest of the year aren't other plusses. I mean i'm not saying we run out and get him (he doesn't get me that excited either to be honest) but if KW is dead set on getting another starter at least get one that has some shot of getting the job done and staying healthy for us. He is not having that great of a year and he plays in a pitcher friendly park. I'd give up a mid level prospect but not much else to get him. Even then, I don't know if I have him on the playoff roster if Duque is healthy.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 07:01 PM) Doesn't this belong in the "Trades" thread? I think it got locked. We need a forum for just trade stuff. Jas, get on this, PRONTO!
-
QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 06:57 PM) ...and you think Schmidt is worth it? Who's far worse in the NL! At least we wouldn't have to pay a Kings ransom for Moyer like we would Schmidt. Plus he's be healthier down the stretch then El Duque... That's the only plus to dealing for Moyer, it wouldn't take much to get him.
-
Richard Justice said on PTI today that there is NO CHANCE the Astros are going to trade Clemens. He is one of the best baseball reporters in the business and follows the Astros closely as he works for the Houston Chronicle.
-
I would probably make this about Plan C. I don't think he puts us over the top and if El Duque can pitch, I'd take him in a heartbeat over Moyer.
