  1. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 01:07 AM) So Saad makes 6.5 for the next 5 years. Lay out how you make the cap work for next year, even with Bickell and Sharp traded. Lay it on me. first you are using this trade as the final transaction. you missed the so called rumors last week of Bickell to arz and Sharp to either NY rangers or FLA, which failed. also the 10 mil coming off the books. now back to the trade, with the 10 mil that was not taken off the books. the hawks matched the rfa offer from the other team. now and pls understand this, this is not for me a chance to prove me right and everyone else wrong. this is for me, a window of winning another Stanley Cup, when they make the playoff. this is my only beef. winning. now the way to keep this team in that winning frame is to make little move thru attrition. to subtly making changes that will not make a huge change in the system but to improve the team while to continue to win. now, the team lost Saad, plus his 23 g 29 a and his +/- being 5, his playoff 8 g 3 a and his +/- being 5 while doing 20+ min of ice time. his replacement is what, Anisimov with his 52 games due to a concussion, 7 g and 20 a in 16 mins and no playoff. so is that an equal replacement??? so lets assume the hawks took the draft picks, depending on the team claiming him. those picks can be a nice rtn, either way, the hawks in either scenario is not a winning trade.
  2. QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 12:37 AM) So to sum up thread, re-hire Ozzie Guillen, hire Hawk as GM, trade Chris Sale. That will make going cold-turkey off the Sox reeeealy easy. i just can't believe all the rehire Ozzie talk. it just amazes me on that.
  3. QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 11:44 PM) He was at a club doing a "comedy" routine, but it was really a barrage of racism. what gets me is, Mike Richards and or his camp is not responding..... yet.
  4. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 11:49 PM) What? My best guess is you are simply looking at things in a vacuum, even though you know there is a cap. I agree with Bowman does was 6.5 per, then it doesn't fit and I'm glad he got something. Now, we are going to find out in the next 48 hours what Saad is actually going to receive. If it actually is 6.5 or anywhere close to that, Bowman can't be put over the coals too much for this deal, even though losing Saad is very tough to stomach. It's the cost of winning. I also still stand by the fact if Bickell and his salary are on the roster next season, then I will be upset, that is a waste of valuable resources. the window of winning is limited. that is why KW / the sox owners thought of continuing the winning of the WS by assembling other players. however in this situation, the hawks winning is still in the middle of that window. the architect of the team should be replacing players in a subtle way, with other players who can step right in without missing a beat. this is not that case here. the salary for Saad, even at 6.5 mil can be worked around, esp if those rumored trades didn't materialize. this is not building a team that can compete in a couple of yrs. we are talking about next yr.
  5. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 11:38 PM) I can compare them because the value still holds IMO, and I believe we all believe that Sharp at one time was pretty close to equal value but now thats clearly swapped by quite a bit. I still hold the line that Saad is not worth 6.5 million against the cap. that is not the point, a contract is a contract and there is no stipulations in any contract. since all people have opinions, those opinions are all subjective, so someone thought he is worth the price.
  6. now i read what you posted and i saw right there, from 2008-2015 where it is valid. so i step back and compared the 2 wilki...... i will admit it. i was wrong. the other was valid until 2008. i apologize in my comment. my only point is i read wilki wrong.
  7. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 11:32 PM) Not the best source but, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Offer_sheet $5,478,986 to $7,305,316 First-, second-, and third-round pick I mean before you call someone out maybe should look it up then look at my link that i posted on nhl restricted offers. also from google and also from wilki.
  8. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 12:29 AM) Www.google.com Look for something that doesnt reference 2008 and what is soo different from my link??? if this is the best you can provide, i am done with you.... keep pretending you know stuff.
  9. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 12:25 AM) You basically hope he turns into a top 6 forward or at least the value of a first round pick. but this is again how many yrs will this take. i am talking about next yrs season and playoff.
  10. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 12:24 AM) Seven years ago, yes. how bout showing me a link..... i showed you the link on the info where i got my info. where is yours???
  11. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 10:50 PM) Mariners fans are still living in the past glory days of Griffey, Jr., the Big Unit, Buhner, Edgar and Ichiro...1993-2003. They're still blaming ownership for trading away Adam Jones. There's no love for Jack Z, they haven't reached the playoffs under any of his numerous plans (for 2-3 years, he was obsessed with OF defense, guys like Endy Chavez and F. Gutierrez). I would be surprised if he's even GM next year. Willie Bloomquist would definitely be surprised. ok, i will owned up. my bias against KW made me say this.
  12. Signing a restricted free agent to a contract worth over $6,539,062 per year costs a team four first-round draft picks. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Restricted_fr...alifying_offers
  13. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 12:13 AM) Right now without anything else being done the Hawks are under the cap by 671,538 lets not forget the colossal over estimation last week, were the hawks salary could have been 10 mil less.
  14. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 12:15 AM) Saad wasnt going to sign a one year bridge dea. The Hawks would have lost him or overpaid him. Instead they got a promising young player for him. Its not great to lose a player of his caliber but the Hawks simply could not have paid Saad that much money moving forward. a bridge deal as you said, well that would be up to him and signing the contract.... either way, it would have given the hawks time to make a better deal. either way, if he signed with the other team, 4-1 rounder.
  15. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 12:13 AM) Right now without anything else being done the Hawks are under the cap by 671,538 and they were hoping to be at 61 last week per bowman at draft day.
  16. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 12:10 AM) Dano is a very good player with upside. You hate to lose a proven guy like Saad but at his cost, you have to. Dano is still unproven, he is still a player with potential who is 20 yrs old. the hawks can go to the playoff next yr without a vital player who can score. Dano may not even crack the team..... oh i forgot that very important 4 th rounder.
  17. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 12:07 AM) Rationalize with me why the Hawks should have paid Saad more than Duncan Keith. doesn't matter, Keith has sign for an extended contract. Saad scored 23 g and 29 a as a 22 yo Saad was to have slide into Sharp slot, Loosing the dman was a blow. granted the hawks has accumulated a great group of dman next yr, the hawks could have traded Saad in a better deal if Saad signed with the other, rumored team who offered him a contract for the 6.5 mil, then the hawks gets 4 - 1 rounder from that team, or work a better rtn on a trade.
  18. QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 11:54 PM) 2C - he's a replacement for Richards and fills a pretty big need next year. Sucks to lose Saad, but if Saad was going to sign an offer sheet at 6.5M per year for 6 years, the Hawks can't afford him - regardless of what happens with Bickell and Sharp. Optimistic about what I'm reading re: Dano. 21 points in 35 games last year as a rookie, two way forward, not afraid to play in the corners. Hopefully the Hawks added two useful pieces today... after to looking at the whole trade.... i do not like it. Bowman failed in many ways these past 2 weeks. re Anisomnov, how many points did he scored in the past 2 yrs.... can he rebound.... and at 3.5+ mil a yr. Saad had 23 goal, 29 assist and played in 3 seasons with the hawks parent team. re Paliotta, i like him, he has the ability to be a nice piece in the hawks surplus of dman. i just don't see this as a positive trade. Bowman screwed up, big time.
  19. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 11:41 PM) Honestly shocked. They're going to extend Anisomnov. And still going to try and trade Bickell and Sharp. his contract is 3.8 mil +/-. i wonder if Bowman think he can replace Bickell. but his production is questionable at best.
  20. i am now wondering, with Saad traded, do the hawks still trade Sharp??? i always thought, imo, Saad was suppose to step into Sharp's position next season.
  21. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 11:31 PM) That's where pitching is incredibly difficult to project. Last August or early September, you could have argued Felix, Iwakuma, Paxton, T.Walker and Chris Young (Comeback Player of Year who they let go to KC) was one of the best in the game, and could/should be a building block. 9 months later, Iwakuma has disappeared almost (will be a FA like Samardzija), and Walker/Paxton went through typical albeit perhaps unexpected growing pains. They're close in the same sense we are...they have some very nice pieces, but they're not competing for the moment and their window is already closing in on them as Cano, Cruz and Felix all age. the burdensome problem i have issue with, it i would like to think Sea had a better GM.
  22. QUOTE (RegionSox @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 10:31 PM) I'm really surprised they had to give up Paliotta as well. to be honest, i am still too preoccupy on the Saad trade, to really look at the other part.
  23. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 10:28 PM) Hate to see Saad go, I think Bowman overplayed his hand with Sharp last week. he did, he was asking for too much for Sharp and too much from ARZ for Bickell. granted bickell scored 14 goals, but who cares on his 4 mil a yr salary.
  24. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 10:23 PM) The RFA situation in hockey is so weak. Sour grapes from someone watching best team in the league, but it does suck how much the deck is stacked against teams keeping their home grown talent off of their rookie deals if they worked out. i don't know, i think that the RFA and offer sheets in some way shuffles the players around. sour grapes, maybe i am, but again, how will the hawks gets those points Saad has put up. to me, i would have matched the offer and then let the other team surrender the draft picks if signed, if not, Saad in 22 yrs and is coming into his best yrs.
  25. QUOTE (RegionSox @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 11:16 PM) The whole thing with those qualifying offers getting mixed up and mailed late really is what made Dale Tallon a bad GM. That helped lead to the first cap crisis. and there was talk, insinuation that someone had their hands in that situation.
