as it looks as right now, the sox will not go over their bonus money.... fvvck.
-
someone posted about the possibility of these 16 yo kids making it. the point is a.) there is no way to tell who will make it, as there is no way to tell which drafted player in the regular draft makes it. b.) you key on the talent of the player|s| c.) you sign a bunch of these players in hope that some may develop. that is the key, sign all you can when the scout thinks the draft is talented and then you hope for the best.

Chris Sale on the cusp of making swing-and-miss history
LDF replied to Whisox05's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 09:26 PM) Yeah? Take that. Chuck Garfien @ChuckGarfien 56s56 seconds ago Chris Sale is the 1st pitcher in 115 years to record at least 10 K's in four straight starts and increase his strikeout total in each game. that all.... what do you want us to do... clap. are we suppose to be impress??? -
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 02:26 PM) There is absolutely no comparison between Saad and Toews. as i said, comparing the stats.... they are close. i am just using this as an example of the talent the hawks are loosing. either way.... it is done and over.... lets just wait and see what else bowman has in store.
-
QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 02:22 PM) Stop. Don't compare those two players. why, posters have been taking some liberty with the truth ..... in order to do the "what if" scenario. all i am doing to showing the talent that the hawks gave up, in a 1 sided trade.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 02:20 PM) Do not compare Toews and Saad. Saad is a great player, but Toews is the best two way center in the game of hockey. JT is a future Hall of Famer. Saad is a good player, but he is not in that neighborhood. being equal too, yeah i agree, but he is close with more great yrs ahead of him.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 02:12 PM) Knowing that Saad was saying last week that he might even take a undermarket deal to stay, that actually makes a lot of sense. then why didn't bowman insist on a face to face mtg with the agent and player. JR does that all the time. so does other owners on other teams.
-
i hate doing what i am about to do, comparing, players. Saad and Towes, they have close to the similar production. so would anyone trade Towes and be happy with the rtn ??? if is the same point. the talent that the hawks have traded. let alone the dman wiho was added.
-
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 02:01 PM) If they move Bickell then they can keep Sharp. Will be interesting to see what happens. This extension was a bit premature IMO, but I guess they really like the guy for that long term role. Better be alot of clauses in there regarding games played because his brain is jello. the future movement of Bickell, Sharp, Steeger will now be up, i need to see if they actually can make those trade.
-
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 01:56 PM) It's not damage control. He acquired a 27 year old C that he has always wanted. who was hurt and played 62 games, who hasn't scored over 15 goals in several yrs. i am really relief now. wow,
-
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 01:50 PM) Bowman mentioned specifically that Toews and Anisimov would be his top centers for years to come. And according to Fox Sports Midwest, Anisimov is about to sign a 5 year extension with the Blackhawks good fine on the contract signing. however, what ever the GM wants in the day to day lineup, i believe that will be Q decisions. if bowman is saying this, then he is doing damage control

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 02:46 PM) Recap posted Some stuff in there you should read - got a small report on Adams in person, updates on a few key guys and some interesting numbers. excellent write up and i really like the Adam's stuff.

just dawn on me, where are all the posters who wanted to trade Sale????

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 01:33 PM) Jay Zawaski @JayZawaski670 10m10 minutes ago Heard from a great source that Saad is absolutely crushed. He didn't think he'd be getting traded. Seems like a lack of comm w/ agent to me. His agent might of ****** real bad...... great find.
-
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 01:27 PM) Yeah Dano is fully expected to produce at or better than Saad in his second year, that's where he's at. Anisimov should slot into the 2C spot for the next several years depending on what the extension is. again you are assuming on things that are beyond your control lets wait and see how things plays out.
-
QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 01:21 PM) Dano isn't some player you hope develops down the road. He is already an NHL player who had 21 points in his first 35 games. For the Hawks to have kept Saad at 6.5 per year, they would have had to gut the team. So long Shaw, Kruger. There would be no way you could resign Seabrook after this year. They would have been a top heavy team with no depth. Now you lose a really good player, but have great depth and you still have a young team. every one is making assumptions without any guarantees on anything. no one will know what line he would play on, no one will know how he will perform on and in Q's system no one will know if with the way the team comes to ST, no one will see who will be expendable. no one should look beyond next yr to figure the future. jeez. that should be obvious.

QUOTE (Real @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 12:34 PM) who was it recently that said getting a hit off Sale is like trying to drink coffee with a fork lol excellent

QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 12:16 PM) Baseball reference uses 1000 IP as it's qualifier for career rate statistics. Sale should reach the 1000 IP mark sometime around the All-Star break next year. When he does, if his numbers stay where they're at, and they could improve as he keeps getting better and better, his all time ranks will be incredibly impressive in quite a few categories. As a reference to how close he is to the all time leaders in these categories, I'll list the top 4 and then Sale's rank. WHIP 1. Addie Joss - 0.9678 2. Ed Walsh - 0.9996 3. Mariano Rivera - 1.0003 4. John Ward - 1.0435 5. Chris Sale - 1.0539 H/9 1. Nolan Ryan - 6.56 2. Sandy Koufax - 6.79 3. Clayton Kershaw - 6.79 4. Sid Fernandez - 6.85 18. Chris Sale - 7.23 K/9 1. Randy Johnson - 10.61 2. Kerry Wood - 10.32 3. Chris Sale - 10.2 4. Pedro Martinez - 10.04 5. Max Scherzer - 9.68 K/BB 1. Tommy Bond - 5.04 2. Chris Sale - 4.50 3. Curt Schilling - 4.38 4. Pedro Martinez - 4.15 5. Mariano Rivera - 4.10 ERA+ 1. Mariano Rivera - 205 2. Pedro Martinez - 154 3. Jim Devlin - 150 4. Clayton Kershaw - 149 6. Chris Sale - 147 That's pretty damn impressive for a guy who I think still hasn't peaked. Barring any health issues, I don't think there's any doubt we are watching the making's of a Hall of Famer. After last night's game, he is now on pace for 305 strikeouts this season. Nobody reaches the 300 K mark anymore. good point about peaking.... and how old is he. what future he has,

another point is, the hawks knew about what Saad was insisting, so they could have traded him during the draft.
-
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 01:55 PM) Anisimov is not some bum though. He's probably going to be the 2nd line center. They had no leverage in a Saad trade though, man. They got a really good package considering they would have only received draft picks if they waited any longer. There was no better deal. It was this deal or draft picks. counting on him to be the #2 line center, is really wishful thinking. he will prob start at the #3 line center with, if he produces to be moved to #2. i am being really serious on this, i am not saying this to argue and make points. i also look up the rfa rules, and the hawks could have offered him a offer and then take it to arbitration. now for my expectation, i can't be wrong again.
-
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 01:52 PM) Based on their rookie seasons Dano is actually a bit ahead as far as production goes. well there is also another player that will be needed to be address. that will be steeger. will they just keep him or will they try to trade him. here is another thought, didn't Q had problems with Morin while he was the hawks???

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 05:26 AM) I think everybody can agree Ozzie loves the fans. Isn't he the most gracious about signing autographs and chatting up fans? That Miami thing was overblown only by butthurt message board fans. Most people knew what was really going on. The Sox owner and other powers that be knew Ozzeroo and KW couldn't co-exist. They couldn't even meet and talk during the season. Something had to give and Jerry was ruling in favor of KW as he should have. KW was Ozzie's boss and Ozzie dissed him repeatedly by not agreeing to even speak with his boss. Everybody knew KW was the winner in the feud. That meant Ozzie had to go and you better believe the Sox brass didn't care that Ozzie was getting hired by Miami. It was the last week or two of the season and the Sox were lousy, going nowhere. Miami's moronic owners thought they were getting a coup in Ozzie who would be loved by the Latin people in Florida. That didn't quite work out when Ozzeroo said that s*** about Castro. But I digress. The Sox did not care that the Mouth that Roared was hired by Miami. Yes there was talk Ozzie would be allowed to come back and complete his contract with Chicago, but like I said Kenny won the battle and Miami stealing Ozzie gave the Sox brass great joy. Then they had to make a huge mistake in hiring Robin. Robin wasn't even on anybody's radar, not even in baseball. That was truly stupid. Even Coop would have been a better hire at that point. RV not withstanding, ozzie was wrong and treated, if not the fans, but the org like shiite. his success at the world series went to his head and imo he thought he was untouchable.

QUOTE (Real @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 12:23 PM) First 100 starts (relief appearance stats removed) Randy Johnson: 38-34, 592 K's / 621.1 IP (8.57 K/9) Sandy Koufax: 30-37, 557 K's / 565.1 IP (8.87 K/9) Pedro Martinez: (??), 649 K's / 649.2 IP (8.99 K/9) Chris Sale: 46-30, 766 K's / 682.2 IP (10.09 K/9) yeah............. impressive ..... very impressive. those are some elite names there, with him.

More evidence of Chicago media turning on Ventura

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 11:05 AM) http://www.latimes.com/sports/angels/la-sp...0701-story.html Now it looks like DiPoto is out as GM instead...crazy. well i wasn't surprise at that move. DiPoto was stupid to force the hand of the owner. did he really thought he was more important to the club than one of the better managers in the game. hasn't he seen the revolving door the past several weeks of managers being relieved from their position?
