  1. I agree that any player on the DL isn't helping the team. Robert Jr's games per season is worrying. I'll have to look at that. I do love watching him when he is on the field though.
  2. "A walk equals a single." Unless you could have advanced the runner as well. But we'll take it!
  3. Surprised Vaughn didn't swing at that pitch. Glad he didn't. C'mon, let's get some insurance and take some pressure off our bullpen! We deserve a win on this one.
  4. Imho, they need to (re)build around some outstanding players like Robert Jr (if he produces like he should). At some point, ya need to stop trading away your stars for potential.
  5. I wanna see him be the "straw that stirs the drink." Get another star like Abreu in his prime to hit after Robert for a knockout 1-2 punch.
  6. (Replying to friend Caulfield) I saw Seaver with the 73 Mets. The GO GO Sox had great pitching and light hitting, like the 73 Mets. Of course, both those teams lost! LOL. I think we can only hope for some fun games this year...
  7. Harold said: I'd be more than happy to go to war with a staff full of Johnathan Cannon's. He doesn't light up a radar gun but Dude just competes his ass off. Love to watch him work. He has done all you can ask and more. He hasn't K'd everyone, but he's done better than Seaver did much of the time. (Seaver my go to for elite pitcher).
  8. Alright. Old timers like me will remember - Vargas just looked like Brooks Robinson on that play. Throw on the fly from foul territory to get the runner. Why does he look so bad most of the time? Come on, Vargas, focus!
  9. OK! ML defense there. The defense was laughable earlier, but now they do it right. Forget the former, do the latter!
  10. Cool info re: Robert Jr. from you guys. Thanks. I think he's a special player, and I hope he lives up to his potential.
  11. See that. Good situational hitting. Clutch 2-out single. We need more of that every game!
  12. Luckily, the E's haven't cost any runs. Cannon picked up the team and pitched out of those boo boos!
  13. Cannon is money. Great performance so far. Time for some run support!
  14. At least Vargas stepped on third before that pathetic throw.
  15. Right. That's the thing to keep in mind. When each piece is lacking, it puts more pressure on the others to be their best (offense, defense, starting pitching, bullpen). Yesterday, everything was peak. Tonight, if the game is tied late, the pressure will be on the bullpen to keep it so until the offense can squeak out a run. If they choke up 3 (like Booser the other night), it'll be an L.
  16. Vargas made a routine play look hard. Man. Cannon really shining though.
  17. Close and late is interesting: Pitching: dead last in WHIP (1.75) Hitting: near the bottom (but never last) in AVG, OBP, SLG, and OPS. Surprisingly, the offense is 19/30 in runs scored 7th inning and later. They can score more late than one would think. If the bullpen gives up 2 or more in a close game, the team will likely lose. But that's true of a lot of teams.
  18. After a couple good 0-2 takes, I would have appreciated a two out single from Pantera there. The offense, as bad as it is, isn't as bad as I thought. It's not only NOT the worst ever, it isn't even the worst in MLB. As of today: 25/30 in runs scored per game (3.52). By comparison, the Guardians are 23rd in runs scored per game (3.81) and they have an 18-13 record. Before the game, I was going to post about the team overall so far, but I didn't get the research done in time.
  19. LOL!!! and he looks like he should be working the fryer!
