  1. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 10:41 AM) I would like the Sox to add Julian Tavarez possibly, he is similar pitcher to Viz, but better. Eats innings and throws lots of sliders. We need to get back Butter Parque.
  2. Here are the right-handed relivers available. Some solid guys, maybe Jeff Nelson and Tavarez.

  4. As much as I love Tejada, I think Kenny should just step down and think to himself we are the world champs. Trade Garland and get some relievers and prospects and call it a day. McCarthy was a Sox fan growing (he loved Frank Thomas) he is guy who would re-up with us. keep him Kenny.
  5. This must mean that Garland or Count is going to be traded for something. I just can't see how McCarthy can spend a full year in AAA after what he did in the majors.
  6. QUOTE(SoxnGiants @ Dec 13, 2005 -> 11:01 PM) I'd hate the trade if Young was added to the deal, I don't even like it much if it were Garland straight up for Vazquez + Cash. Vazquez just hasn't performed well in 1 1/2 years, plus I don't think he's a good fit for the Cell. HOWEVER, Kenny has earned my trust as a fan. He's made excellent deals to get Contreras, who looks like a CY Young candidate, and Garcia and both at less than market value. Both have performed very well in Chicago and both were major components to the World Series, it's not really fair for me to second guess him anymore. I also remember Kenny wanting Chacon who has been excellent after getting out of the thin air, so it seems to me that Kenny knows what he's doing with pitchers (Todd Ritchie notwithstanding). If Vazquez reverts back to his Expos form, a deal for Garland would be a steal (assuming Garland would walk after 2006). Part of me thinks this is a negotiating ploy though. I agree in the fact that I have faith in Kenny, but this deal isn't smart and no prospects on our end should be going.
  7. Vasquez = bum
  8. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Dec 13, 2005 -> 05:51 PM) Eric Moulds is probably going to be released from what I just heard on ESPN. I think that is after the season, but he would be a nice pickup to be opposite Moose. Then, you sign or draft a speed receiver for the slot that can compete with Bradley for the #3 receiver spot. Get a TE in the draft, sign a QB (Kitna?) and add O-line depth, seconday depth and LB and we are a superbowl contender. Really, round 1 = TE, round 2 = WR, round 3 = OL FA = QB, WR. Not to hard to accomplish with about $20 million dollars in cap room.
  9. Thank god, Wade is terrible, hasn't done s*** for this team. Please Price.
  10. QUOTE(JimH @ Dec 13, 2005 -> 05:29 PM) The Score update guy in the 3:30 or so update said: KW didn't confirm or deny interest in Vazquez, but did indicate he would, or has, offered the chance for both Garland and Contreras to stay with the White Sox beyond 2006. If they declined, he (KW) would "move forward". It appears Garland has said no, and it appears KW is moving forward. Further ... personally I do not believe for one minute that Chris Young is going anywhere. Again, IMO. I guess this means that he will talk with Count about an extension soon.
  11. Bill Cole has been compared to Brian Cook because they are post players who can dribble and shoot threes. I would be happy if he turned out to be Brian Cook II
  12. The only way I trade for Vaz is if it doesn't involve Garland or Count. Then, we swing Garland or Count for a Carl Crawford or something.
  13. If we get vasquez, we also better get one of Drew, Jackson or Quentin. 25 year olds who win 18 games, don't grow on trees.
  14. Overall, I just don't see how this deal makes us better, short-term or long-term. Garland is a better pitcher than Vasquez. We had this whole thing with Pauly last year about not resigning him in season and we won the World Series and resigned. This makes us a worse ballclub.
  15. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Dec 13, 2005 -> 08:36 AM) Exactly. Rowand was Pierzynski's best friend on the team but now A.J. is already hoping for a long-term contract with the Sox. Rowand and Pierzynski were teammates for less than a year and gained friendship. Buehrle and Garland have been teammates--and best friends--since 2000.
  16. QUOTE(JimH @ Dec 13, 2005 -> 08:35 AM) What does Buehrle have to do with this, they are professionals, players come and go. Buerhle and Jon are best friends, we know that Buerhle has already stated he would like to play with the Cards. It's possible, this could deter his signing with us after the 2007 season. I am not in favor of this deal at all. We can afford Jon with the increased attendance and $$ this year. Jon will want to stay here if we give him a fair offer, ala Konerko. People said Konerko was an east coast guy who would end up in Boston, truth be told he never wanted to play there, so hopefully the same with Garland.
  17. nice article and he got to play in front of Joey.
  18. Vasquez had a 4.41 ERA in the NL last year. Garland 3.50 something ERA in the AL. Please don't do this move, as some have said, it would have a negative impact on Buerhle, also.
  19. My AAP = he gone-for now at least.
  20. I think Liotta is gonna have an amazing year, possibly even better than last year in a pitcher park like the one in B-Ham. Off subject, Chris Young in Charlotte = sick #'s.
  21. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Dec 11, 2005 -> 09:10 PM) You don't like the mullet? Got no problem with the mullet, but on Mariotti, it looks so damn funny.
  22. QUOTE(SnB @ Dec 11, 2005 -> 08:40 PM) pic from the site Mariotti needed a haircut badly.
  23. I think that they are the only team now that has ten wins. They looked really good at Oregon and I think they now the co-favorites with Mich. St. for the Big Ten title. Iowa, Indiana, Wisconsin are good, but they are clearly not with Ill and Mich. St.
  24. Fields is gonna turn into a Borcard, just in the fact that he will be in AAA for two years at least, unless he gets traded.
  25. I would think Fields or Schurenstein would get the nod at 3rd. I don't think Fields has shown enough to start at AAA, BHAM, what do you think?
