Rotoworld predicts sox to sign Jarrod Washburn
I don't see how we will be in a position to spend that money when we have Count, Hernandez, McCarthy all going for 2 spots. I don't think El-Duque will be traded, but count has looked very solid all year and an NL team might take a chance on him. Any thoughts? Here's the link for the rest of the pitchers: http://www.rotoworld.com/content/story.asp...B&storyid=15355

8/21 Games
QUOTE(poorme @ Aug 21, 2005 -> 07:14 PM) just got back from the charlotte/durum game. they lost 5-4 in the bottom of the ninth. the charlotte SS who's name escapes me at the moment, put the winning run on with an error. then allowed him to score on a liner off his glove. bullard pitched pretty well. consistently between 74-84 mph. man does he throw some slop up there. he could pitch in the majors if his control is pinpoint. borch hit a homer to center. didn't hit it well and it went about 415 feet. he had another rbi on a hard grounder and got a single into center. the bulls got another cheap run when bullard picked a runner off first but rosie brown threw it into center. jim bullinger looked pathetic out there. gave up a walk and a double w/o getting an out. Felix Martinez was the SS, they showed the game on milb.com, he sure did blow it.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 21, 2005 -> 06:41 PM) Chris Young just raking. Over. 281 now. 4-4, 2 HR, 2 1B, 2 SB...wow... http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/app/mil...biraax_mobaax_1 I think I am more giddy about Young the any of our recenent propsects, more than anyone including when Reed was hitting .400+ in AA or when McCarthy had than roll last year.

Twins claim Soriano off waivers
QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Aug 21, 2005 -> 11:25 AM) Radke is a very good pitcher. Lohse is decent as a 3rd starter and Silva is pretty good. They have the best Starting Pitching of any team in competition for the wild card. I am not doubting their pitching but there was a reason that Silva won for the first time a couple of days ago since early July. They can't score runs and it doesn't matter how well Lohse, Radke, Silva and Mays pitch b/c they don't shut you out, they give up 2-4 runs. So their offense is still going to determine if they do anything.

Twins claim Soriano off waivers
But Santana can only pitch once every fifth day. So he can win every game he wants, they need to score for the other 4 starters.

I am looking to go into broadcast journalism and am wondering what schools are the best at it.

He better not be back, I would much rather have Bill Mueller who is a FA.

Indians/Twins Updates
Just look at the A's line-up all over .270 ish hitters, but they take pitches and walk. I wish to god that was us, that is why they kill the Sox, they don't chase bad pitches and get into the bullpen early.

QUOTE(whitesoxjr27 @ Aug 20, 2005 -> 08:59 PM) i agree 100%. is there any real way to change that? Unless you want to get rid of Chris Young, Rogo and pay all of Junior's contract, then no.

Indians/Twins Updates
The worst thing about our line-up is that we will be living with it in the future because loves Crede and he signed Juan long-term. Everyone else is signed for the next and beyond. That scares me.

QUOTE(whitesoxjr27 @ Aug 20, 2005 -> 08:54 PM) putting timo in the 1st slot and uribe in the 2nd slot is not giving 100% in my eyes. those two do not scare any pitchers. Only Konerko and Pods scare opponents, Kong for his power and Pods for running and they are both injured. 1-9 in our line-up don't scare anyone.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 20, 2005 -> 08:53 PM) I agree, but what else do you think they're going to say? I liked what Ozzie said today, that we suck right now and he is pissed off.

Meanwhile it looks like the A's will be taking the lead shortly versus KC. Only 13 losses till we tie them, hey anything could happen.

Indians/Twins Updates
It's obvious that the Sox as a team has gotten complacent and they don't care anymore. When I see in the post-game comments that the team is strong and giving 100%, I just want to barf because I know what I am watching is not a team giving 100% or even 75%. Their at-bats the last 2 weeks looks like an 11 year old little league team.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 20, 2005 -> 08:48 PM) Mariners have a very potent top of the order. Sexson is hitting the long ball now, and even Beltre has come along well lately. Also, putting Bloomquist in the 2 spot has been a very good move. I would take their lineup in a second over the Sox lineup. So would I, but they have Ichiro, Sexson and Beltre and the rest is very mediocre. I also would take their line-up, but they are not that much better offensively than us. The fact that they had patience, made Guerrier throw pitches, just shows how lame our AA line-up is.

Indians/Twins Updates
How does a s*** team like the Mariners get 6 runs off Guerrier and we can't do s***. Guerrier threw 23 pitches in 1/3 an inning while against us he pitched 39 pitches in 4 innings.

Remember the good old days?
We should've called up Owens, we need a spark, not for Anderson to sit on the bench while Timo starts.

QUOTE(S720 @ Aug 20, 2005 -> 12:30 PM) It's not Iguchi's fault. It's El Duque's error. Why didn't he go to third instead of 2nd? Man, we are really playing terribly right now. I'm afraid WSoxMatt is correct with the way we've been hitting! Damn!!! You know what's scary! Don't even think about the playoff. We might not even make it now with the way we've been playing. Orlando made the right play and throw. You are told to go to second and throw it to the bag. It was Iguchi's ball and his mistake.

Luckily I am leaving the house in 10 minutes, what the hell was Iguchi doing, catch the ball.
