Sharp saves the day.... funny a guy like sharp can get goals in front of the net on re-directs (take note Mr. Ruutu).
-
Hawks dont get two points here.... its a season breaker.
-
13.3 seconds left.... kings come back from 4 down in the third. unbelievable
-
Young team can't sit on leads.... 5-4 Hawks 38.4 seconds left. Stay tuned.
-
This is the kind of game where you run your shift a little longer than usual, hope to get a chance to pad those stats. Kane Vs. Toews.... who is the Calder Trophy winner?
-
The Havlat goal was absolutely sick... everything else has been kind of garbage except perhaps for the Williams goal. Cloutier is brutal, but regardless the Hawks are firing on all cylinders! 24 games to go after today, Commit to the Indian!

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Feb 21, 2008 -> 11:23 PM) I have to say I'm intrigued. Two glass players for a young stud like Staal. I'd lean towards pulling the trigger, while trying to squeeze a tad more out... Havlat's salary and injury history alone make this intriguing, Ruutu also makes decent coin (I believe the two of them together break 9 mill)... Staal has limitless potential as the 2nd overall pick just 2 years ago (one pick ahead of one Jonathan Toews)... he'd fit really well on a club looking for top end talent to put with Toews/Kane. Seriously, 3 guys under 20 in Jordan Staal, Jonathan Toews, and Patrick Kane has future Stanley Cup Champs written all over it. According to another site the proposed trade is Jordan Stall and Ryan Lannon (D) for Ruutu/Havlat. Staal and Toews played together in the Men's WHC. I dunno if he can play D but Lannon's web design abilities leave much to be desired http://www.ryanlannon.com/

QUOTE(JFields27 @ Feb 21, 2008 -> 06:25 PM) Indiana would want Deng no doubt in the deal I'm sure that the deal wouldn't be straight up, but I can't think of a player other than O'Neal (Michael Redd?) who is available and of any quality.... the bottom line is that were light years away from contending.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Feb 21, 2008 -> 03:51 PM) Oh my god...I'm in love. Now the team needs to get rid of Ben because I actually like Larry Hughes. In fact I like Hughes a lot. The only major risk is health. Geeze am I excited. Sign and Trade Ben and for Jermaine O'Neal in the offseason... maybe the bulls can compete then.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Feb 21, 2008 -> 05:09 PM) Staal isn't more talented, and I'm pretty sure Tallon would even tell you that. However, you know more goes into it than just talent. 1. In the age of salary cap, a 6 million dollar contract needs to buy you "the goods". Havlat flat out hasn't delivered. If thats DT's fault for giving him too much money, so be it, but that doesn't change the fact he isn't producing at the rate he is getting paid. 2. I really believe that Havlat isn't a good influence in the locker room, and thats not what this team needs with such a young core. 3. Staal will be a nice addition to the young core. Going into next season with Toews-Kane-Sharp-Staal-Keith-Seabrook is a very attractive core, and with Marty out of the equation, $$$ can go into a a high impact, vet scorer(Hossa?) I completely agree with everything you said, especially the bad influence part - he wants to be THE GUY, but pouts too much and isn't a strong enough leader to be THE GUY. If Dale can get that deal sweetened just a little bit.... i think you have to make it.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Feb 21, 2008 -> 04:44 PM) Hmmmm....That is certainly something that makes a lot of sense, but honestly, if it was just the 2-1 deal, I think the Hawks come out on the losing end just a bit. I would still love the future, even moreso, but I still think they could get just a little more. I have seen maybe Pitts 2nd round pick, which could make some sense(pretty sure the Hawks don't have one). Someone like Laraque would be a good get, because this team is incredibly soft WITH Ruutu, but he is a UFA at the end of the season, so that doesn't make much sense either. I do kinda hope something comes of this though. It makes sense for both teams, but especially for Pitt. Havlat with Sid is scary, and I would have to assume Jarkko would like to play with his brother, and vise versa. It gives the Hawks another solid piece to build on for the future, and thats something you can't really say about Havlat and Ruutu(I'm not a big Ruutu fan, so I'm biased) I agree with your analysis, the siliver lining with getting rid of havlat is the 6 mil he's gauranteed next year. Staal is a piece to the puzzle, he's 19, 6-4 and has already produced some in the league. I worry about the team not taking a step forward next season though, Havlat helps us do that more than a pick and Staal, if we trade Havlat we better make Forsberg a deal and get him to return to the NHL, or find another consistent PPG player to get us over the hump and back into the playoffs.

QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Feb 21, 2008 -> 04:28 PM) Apparently Pitts is interested in Havlat/Ruutu and are willing to package Staal for them. Interesting. http://www.thefourthperiod.com/news/pit080221.html I wonder if they'd consider a Colby Armstrong for Ruutu deal straight up? They're essentially the same player, but Armstrong is a little taller, and Ruutu has a little more skill... maybe they think reuniting the Ruutu brothers would ignite his game? I dunno Its hard to just give up a player like Havlat who is in his prime, and has SOOOO much f***ing talent. Jordan Staal is an exciting return for Havlat, he's big and young... but even at his best, hes probably not as gifted as Havlat.

Seabrook resigned 3 years 10.5 mil. didnt see this anywhere else.

My name is Mikhail Yakubov, do you like players like Alexander Frolov or Brad Boyes? Too bad dickheads, you got me!

QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Feb 14, 2008 -> 08:15 PM) Can we at least bring Igor Radulov back? Please?? Valeri Zelepukin anyone?

Note: Jordan Henry notched his first NHL point last period, first of many Phil Housley Jr. :drink
-
Basically, if i trash you (Havlat last night, Bourque tonight) your going to make me look like an asshole. So look for Karpotsev to come back any day now and notch a natural hattrick. unreal.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Feb 14, 2008 -> 07:32 PM) The Hawks are 4 points away from having the worst record in the NHL. The season is over. However, unlike seasons before, they have a great shot of making the playoffs next season. If they don't, it has to be considered a failure . The realistic best case scenario for this season is to have guys like Yanic, Adams, Bourque, and Lapointe(although I do like Marty) traded away for picks, and guys like Brouwer-Skille-Dowell get some serious PT up with the club. As I said, Tallon needs to see what he is holding in his deck. The team has 25 games left after tonight, could be 8 points away from the 7 spot, and is finally getting healthy. While they are up against difficult odds, the season isn't over. Yanic Perrault and Lapointe are the only two who could be traded out of that bunch, Rene Bourque has achieved nothing in his career and is injury prone and Craig Adams is pathetic. I completely agree with you that those guys should play (in fact I think that they would produce more than the "veterans") but thats not how teams work. Tallon needs to get this team in the playoffs asap and wont just let the kids learn on his watch...

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Feb 14, 2008 -> 07:17 PM) Skille going back down in garbage. Skille should be getting minutes over Bourque, Adams, Burish, Lapointe, and Perreault. There is no reason he can't get 13-15 min a game up here, I don't care who is playing with. Season is over. Start taking a look at the guys that are going to be here for the long haul, not Craig Adams.... I'm not going to disagree with you about skille, although id hesitate to say that the season is over, Id rather have him get mins over all the guys you mentioned... but that never happens in pro sports. Perrault makes too much money, same for Lapointe, Burish has some value as a 4th liner, Adams came from a Tallon trade and he wont sit, and Bourque has been lanquishing on the team for over 2 years. The concept of "Sunk Cost" is lost on professional sports teams. Jonathan Toews just made a sick play to set up Adams... of course he shot the puck directly in the corner. *Shudders*

dunk-a-roo notches the first goal of the game 1-0 Hawks EARRRLY on.

QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Feb 14, 2008 -> 01:29 PM) How Skille was not getting a better look than some of the worthless s*** that is the 3rd and 4th line is very indicative to the decision making going on with that team. Craig Adams is -12 has 5 points and does nothing yet he is getting ice time. I didn't even realize Skille had come back up after the AS break. You really want Skille playing on a line with Adam Burish and Martin Lapointe? They are a black-hole of talent. With Bolland back up with the big club (who played a great game last night) there isnt a spot for Skille to play unless he was on the 4th line. Makes a ton more sense to let him play PP and get tons of icetime in the A. EDIT: Craig Adams is pathetic though.... we should have traded for Karl Stewart, he had a big impact when he was on the team last year.

I think it was a pretty productive stint for Skille, I think he showed that he can play in this league. Lets hope he goes back down and start dominating in Rockford.
