Argh. they're still a young team, and setbacks like this are bound to happen. They can still make the playoffs but they are just making it increasingly difficult and less likely to happen when they give away points like today.

s***.

Patrick Sharp 34 goals this year.... he was acquired for Matt Ellison (essentially a B-level prospect at the time) and a 3rd rd pick. Dale deserves some love for that move.
-
Lalime save % today.... 76percent. yikes. EDIT: Lalime playing like Lalemon today... sorry i had to.
-
10 goals all scored by different players.... what a strange game.
-
shorthanded...... sharp is a SH-Savant

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Mar 9, 2008 -> 12:07 AM) Akim Aliu is not to be f***ed with. Aliu got a cross check to the back while he was on the ground, I would have reacted like that too... Aliu is a really aggressive player.... if not for a fight with a teammate a couple years back - he probably would have been a first round pick. I'm excited to watch him develop.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Mar 8, 2008 -> 12:34 PM) Krush mentioned it, but Thornton really is incredible, especially behind the net. He is just a beast, and is so fun to watch. When Thornton is in the offensive zone, he really is like a post player in the NBA. He's like Tim Duncan, he can use his big body to position himself, and once he gets the puck... he can either dish it to a cutter (McLaren last night) or take it to the net. its really interesting to watch.

Marty Booker, Brandon Lloyd sign with Bears

just dont expect him to catch anything over the middle... the guy short arms the ball when he feels the heat. -
QUOTE(The Critic @ Mar 6, 2008 -> 05:01 PM) Boy, oh, boy, Bill sure was right on the money about not showing home games on TV. No one would go to games if they could just watch them at home. It sure is harming the "season reservation holders". I bet bill sure is happy we got rid of that "Christian Ruutu" guy.... the team is playing so much better since he's gone.

Kevin Kolb... the same QB that people ripped the Eagles for taking so early in the 2nd Rd.? no thanks.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Mar 6, 2008 -> 12:05 AM) That's the million dollar question -- your best guess would be as good as anybody else's. I've heard people from both camps say different things. He's not a Carey Price, a guy you trade your starter for so he can step in. At the same time, he probably needs a shot in the NHL to see whether he can stick -- I don't think he's got a whole lot left to do in the AHL. Thats about the best way to explain it... I have serious doubts about the way the kid plays, but the only way to really know is see him perform against the best in the world and judge him based on that.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 5, 2008 -> 10:20 PM) I'm going to throw this out there, and apologies if this causes some heated debate. Say Crawford gets another 2-3 chances to perform, and does as well as he did tonight. My question is, can the Hawks go into next season with a goalie tandem of Lalime and Crawford, and trade Khabibulin to a team in desperate need of goaltending? The Hawks could then use that money they save from trading the Bulin Wall to try and sign Brian Campbell. You sign Campbell, that improves the defence even more, and would argubly be the big strength of this team. And the Hawks should have some $$$ left over easily to sign 1 maybe 2 top 6 forwards, with the cap rising to $52M next season IIRC. even with only 1 year left on Bulie's contract, I think hes hard to trade... he still makes 6.75 mil a year. That being said, I'm not sure how high the organization is on Crawford, you can't take anything away from the kid tonight he shutout the defending champs... but I'm still wary that he could even be a serviceable back-up for Lalime (who imo can't handle a HEAVY workload). just my .02... what a win tonight.

QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Mar 5, 2008 -> 09:05 PM) Hawks have been superb tonight. True.... but the Ducks have had 61 mins in penalties tonight as well, that might explain some of it.
-
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 5, 2008 -> 08:56 PM) I just saw the box score and the amount of penalties in the 1st period. Sounds like a feisty game to say the least. But let's hope the Hawks inability to convert on the PP doesn't come back to haunt them tonight. Ducks - 6 shots half-way through the game.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 5, 2008 -> 01:55 AM) I mean a consistent WR who can give you 6-7 catches a game e.g a Bernard Berrian Don't think Hester can do that. I agree with you... Devin Hester is best used as a second-third option (albeit in an expanded role than the one he was in last year) where he can run simple routes, misdirections etc... and when his number is called to receive the ball... all he has to do is out run everyone and catch the ball. -

He's also probably the third string Qb right now too.... he was the emergency QB for the Bears during the Jauron era. BIG HANDS, big body, team got better today without spending all that much. -
Rene Borque has stepped us his game at the right time for this team... he is playing the BEST hockey of his career. Just gotta hope he stays healthy.

Tony "O-MERLOT" and the Golden Jet Chardonay are now available at your local Binny's.... i think they are in the same aisle as Mike Ditka's Kick-ass-Red

QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Mar 3, 2008 -> 12:35 PM) And I thought he is at LEAST a fivefather! Happy Birthday! Believe it or not, he was referring to the fact that I (murcieone) am one of his four fathers (one of his pimps). When Jason turns tricks, he usually just calls us "daddy" but for whatever he decide to go all formal on us..... go figure

QUOTE(DrunkBomber @ Mar 2, 2008 -> 09:32 PM) Ya, one of my friends has that one and he was explaining to me how you have to record stuff. Do you know if you buy it at a place like Best Buy will they set up the car for you? Honestly, its a pretty simple installation, you need to attach the antenna to the roof (magnet) and run the wires from the roof and from the cigarette lighter into the docking station. They can probably install it... hide the wires a little better, but you can do it pretty easily yourself. I'm a shareholder, so buy 2 or 3 of those bad boys!

QUOTE(SoxAce @ Mar 2, 2008 -> 09:20 PM) Looks like Toews got a cut on his mouth and a chipped tooth. (damn that hurts) He's gonna get 50 stitches INSIDE his mouth. (speaking from experience, its beyond hell) Hopefully he'll be straight. Why do I think that Jonny T will be playing tuesday? It might be with a cage on... but this kid has huge balls.

I don't have a Stiletto (I have an S50) but I listen to Howard everyday, and from what he has said about it.... it picks up Wi-Fi signals, so even if you are out of range of the Sirius satellite you can still get a signal. However, if you were using it at a gym I'm not positive you'd get a signal, unless there was a wi-fi station close by. The S50 sucks to be honest, you have to use it kind of like a TiVo.... and its ridiculously confusing to program. The S50 needs to be docked to pick up the signal so while its portable its not at all fun to use. From what I've heard, the Stiletto is supposed to be really good, it is essentially what the S50 should have been, and at the price your getting it at - it looks like a good deal. I wouldn't buy one to store MP3's on or anything like that, but if you wanted to listen the stations its well worth the money.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 2, 2008 -> 07:00 PM) Ladd seems to be the new Mark Bell, prototypical power forward, I would look for similar type of production (and hopefully none of the off-field problems). That seems like a fair comparison, Bell and Ladd seem to have similar skill sets (although i think Ladd is a stronger skater). Bell scored 45 and 48 pts his last two years with the Hawks... when our teams were among the worst in the league scoring wise. I think if Ladd gets the chance to play the amount of minutes Bell did in those years, with Kane and Toews instead of Arnason and Calder... he'd improve on those point totals by a decent amount. This line of Ladd-Toews-Kane seems like a good fit. This seems like an improved vision of what Savvy wanted to do with Ruutu-Toews-Kane earlier in the year, but Ladd fits better because he's better on the puck and can faster than Rudy. If he finishes the year strong, it will be interesting to see what the team does with him (he's a RFA right?).
