If JP is really hurt and he talked KW and Ozzie into keeping him off the DL. . . all parties involved are pretty stupid. -

Tonight we're enjoying the typical Mark Buehrle experience. Mowing down the opposing team's lineup, giving up a solo job somewhere in the mix. . . hopefully a win. -

QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 17, 2010 -> 07:53 PM) Don't care if we are playing garbage. We are getting timely hitting on the road, scoring runs without homers, and getting good pitching. Color me optimistic for now. Won't look at Minny until we get to .500 though. agreed. I like what I am seeing. . . Becks and Q are heating up (it is about time!) and the starting pitching is coming through for us. Much easier to watch wsx baseball when the team is actually playing somewhere near its potential. -

QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Jun 14, 2010 -> 09:45 AM) Sounds like a lisp to me. I'm not saying he wasn't buzzed, but he wasn't sloshed...I see nothing wrong with what he did. hanging over the rails?? He put his head down on his arm...he's on no sleep, waiting in sauna temperatures with a hockey jersey on. His image is just fine for a 21 yr old kid. Can't believe this is even being discussed here. hahaha a lisp. . . really? No he's drunk. Kaner has every right to act like a 21 y/o douchebag, we've all been there. I get it, he's happy and jolly and eager (not Ben) to celebrate the biggest accomplishment of his life. But that doesn't change the fact that he's a 21 y/o douchebag. We all probably got away with it because we're not super famous athletes, but he is a super famous athlete and he acted like a 21 y/o douchebag. If it were me, I would keep my social proclivities on the down low and present a decent image to the public. He didn't do that . . . he acted like a 21 y/o douchebag. Some people won't care about his douchebag antics, some people will love his douchebag antics, and some people will won't like his douchebag antics (as illustrated by this thread). His behavior bothered me, but not nearly enough to make me dislike him or ruin my excitement over winning the cup. my .02 -

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 10, 2010 -> 10:12 AM) I started wondering about this last night when I heard all the things that Toews had won before the got to hold the cup last night, but... Is Jonathan Toews the Derek Jeter of hockey? I think he's more like the Steve Yzerman of the new era. Good at everything, plays excellent in both ends and is without a doubt, a leader of men. -

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jun 10, 2010 -> 07:54 AM) The final goal audio from WGN Radio... AWESOME! lol, poor John Wiedeman . . . what a difficult play to try and make memorable. I blame Michael Leighton's awfulness. -

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 10, 2010 -> 01:51 AM) I hope more of the big boys in the org. give Dale Tallon his kudos. This is still his team. (I like Stan, but wasn't cool to see him get all the kudos by people when it was Dale who put this team together) There is a rumor going that all the players are gonna pinch in and buy Tallon a ring. That would be very classy of them all. I thought of Dale tonight too. I imagine that tonight is not easy for him. I have this feeling that he is sitting somewhere in South Florida wiping down his thick rim glasses and muttering obscenities about Scotty Bowman. Dale built this team, there is no two ways about it. However, the Hawks made the decision to put their faith in a man who has won a slew of cups and I can't blame them. This isn't an amateur operation anymore and Dale made a few questionable signings in the years preceeding his dismissal. -

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jun 10, 2010 -> 01:18 AM) I'm just so happy right now. I'm complete as a sports fan. My two teams, the Hawks and Sox, both have won titles where I could actually appreciate them, and I was lucky enough to spend both clinching moments with my best friend, my dad. Watching guys like Boris Mironov and Alex Karpovtsev skate on UC ice no less than six years ago really makes you cherish seeing Toews and Kane gliding around with the Cup in their hands. This may never happen again in my lifetime, but it really doesn't need to. Valeri Zelepukin anyone? How about Captain DUI? How about Jassen Cullimore? How about Steve McCarthy? Anton Babchuk? Mikhail Yakubov? How about the holy uni-brow Pavel Vorobiev. We used to get excited about the potential of the Arnason-Bell-Calder line . . . our top line this year included Kane-Toews-Hossa/Buff/etc. . . Its really like watching two different franchises. Pavel Vorobiev happy for Blackhawk Cup Victory. -

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 10, 2010 -> 12:50 AM) I would say 60% of the people at the restaurant wanted Kane to get it before it was announced (the others Antii and Toews too), but they didn't mind Toews winning at all. Toews winning the CS is fine. I would have gone with Antti Niemi because I don't think there was any one player who was more responsible for the Hawks winning the cup. After a few shaky starts in the Nashville series, he never was the reason we lost a game and there were a few that he absolutely stole. 1st Rd -- Niemi > Rinne (after first couple games) 2nd Rd -- Niemi >> Bobbie Lu (no doubt) 3rd Rd -- Niemi >>>>> Nabby (no doubt) Finals -- Niemi >>>>>> Leighton (Leighton Sucks) -

QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jun 10, 2010 -> 12:46 AM) The last two games were awesome. The way it ended kind of sucked though as nobody knew it was a goal. Leighton sucks. The biggest difference in this series was that Niemi was solidly ABOVE average and Leighton was solidly BELOW average. Michael Leighton starting in the Cup Finals was like Rex starting Super Bowl XLI (I know I know it hurts me to say it, I still love you Sexy). -
The Chicago Blackhaw..... no, no, I believe they won recently. Stumped.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 10, 2010 -> 12:27 AM) ^^^^^^^^^ Seriously this. As a new follower since Kane and Toews were drafted (though always announced that) it is good to see guys here who were following them since the dark times and beyond that see history. Congrats to guys like Steve, Slavko, Jeff, Mike, Andrew, Critic (though he's a Red Wings fan too ) Athomeboy, Murcie, Chimpy, EvilJester, anyone else I missed here etc.. etc.. Just a great time to be a Hawks fan, and a follower of the game. lol, if I hadn't grown up playing hockey . . . I wouldn't have followed the team during the lean years either. They were run miserably. This team is REALLY REALLY REALLY EASY TO LOVE and I think a avid sports fan in this city would have been a moron to ignore the buzz and possibility this team presented. I get annoyed when people throw stuff on the ice (see earlier in this thread) but other than that . . . I don't really care. The Hawks have 2 main goals: 1) win and 2) make money. They are doing both right now, and for that I am ecstatic. -

QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Jun 9, 2010 -> 11:58 PM) Did anyone else hear someone say to Kane during the interview "no cab rides tonight." f***ing hilarious. Kane and his brosephs were funny. The loop was f***ing packed tonight. I couldn't find a bar to watch the game after my night class. had to go to martini ranch (wtf?) and caught the last two periods and ot. Having worked for the team the last season that WWW was alive and running the show, it is truly remarkable . . . i am so elated, truly amazing. Kaner is going to go "hog wild" "greetings from philly!!!!!!" -
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jun 5, 2010 -> 01:52 PM) KC Johnson reporting that Thibodeau has accepted the Bulls offer, but an announcement can't be made until the Finals are over. So it looks like Thibodeau will be the head coach and Pete Meyers will stay on as an assistant. Thibs could be brining along Ron Adams and Mo Cheeks as assistants, which I think would be fantastic. Randy Brown will stay on as a player development assistant, and they've talked about bringing Kevin Ollie or Rick Brunson in for that same position. Not entirely sure whats going on, but the Bulls have actually (hopefully) done quite well here. The Brunson Burner? Count me in!!!!

QUOTE (greg775 @ May 25, 2010 -> 01:31 AM) -- Magic could make this interesting series. I didn't think either team played particularly well late, but the Magic get another game, at home, to try to rediscover what they had not so long ago. If they start to click again like in earlier rounds, watch out?? I had the same feeling after watching that game tonight. But I think it comes down to whether or not the Magic shooters can re-gain that shooting touch. It also wouldn't hurt to hit a f***ing free-throw now and again. Howard was absolutely pathetic from the line tonight and was a big reason why the Magic couldn't slam the door closed late in the 4th quarter.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 24, 2010 -> 10:17 PM) Wow. That would be something else. Doesn't that seem like such a Phil Jackson move? I still have my doubts that it will happen (especially if Paxon can't gaurantee that Lebron will sign), but it makes sense that he would jump ship after having some disagreements with management and come to a team ripe for a prolonged title run (again, assuming that LBJ signs here).

According to SportsCenter . . . Chris Broussard reports that Bulls have reached out to Phil Jackson.

I didn't see this, but I guess people threw things on the ice in the 3rd period? Thats such a cubbie/redwings thing to do. . . keep the ice clean unless someone scores 3 goals. That is all. -

QUOTE (SHIPPS @ May 23, 2010 -> 09:08 PM) I think I heard Tallon was hired somewhere else recently, dont feel bad for him. Its the business and he has landed on his feet. Plus he will still be able to know he put this team together. Tallon was hired by the Florida Panthers last week. He did assemble this team but he also signed a couple of s***ty deals that might complicate things for this team as we move forward. Then Dale got caught up in the Bowman's power grab and they had just cause for giving him the boot. Still, he will make due in Florida . . . if he can win there then he truly is a great hockey mind. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 22, 2010 -> 02:33 PM) I forgot all about him. Is this the year he is able to come over to the NBA? Supposedly, I think I remember K.C. Johnson mentioning something about this a few weeks back.
