  1. Wasn't there a thread about this already? Miguel Olivo, surgery
  2. This team doesn't remind me of 2000 at all. This team is far superior to the 2000 team. It almost seemed as if everything just fell into place and it was a magical season in 2000. In 2004 we are a very good team and only getting better. Look at that staff in 2000... Eldred, Sirotka, Parque, Baldwin... nasty compared to this staff.
  3. I think they are waiting for Horacio Ramirez to come back before they do anything to the pitching staff.
  4. Jon Garland for Darrin Erstad anyone? Sometimes the best trades are the ones you don't make.
  5. No doubt about it. They can easily finish in 4th behind the Tigers and Indians. OH MY!
  6. Do you really expect anything less from Carlos. I love him. I think he is a great player and he seems like a cool guy. But damn is he stupid.
  7. When healthy! That is a good one! That staff will never be completely healthy.
  8. long range, like when Magglio is back in the lineup we will be even better?
  9. The sox will definately offer him arbitration. There is no way in hell Maggs takes arbitration. This next contract he signs will set him up for the rest of his life. The only way he accepts arbitration is if he and the sox are working on a long term deal. Don't for one instance think the Sox won't offer arbitration if it goes that far. That is just ridiculous.
  10. yep, damaged goods, kidneygate
  11. I agree with all your points and I definately think our infield defense is comparable to theirs, maybe even better. Konerko and Giambi is a push. I believe Uribe has the edge against whoever they throw out there. Crede is better than ARod at third base defensively. Jose is not that much lower than Jeter defensively if at all.
  12. It's been an eventful week for new Mariners catcher Miguel Olivo. After being shipped out by the White Sox in the Freddy Garcia trade, Olivo made his Seattle debut on Tuesday and then required surgery on Wednesday to extract part of a kidney stone. According to the Seattle Times, the procedure was non-invasive, and Olivo should be available for tonight's game.
  13. True, but we usually hit Santana hard. His career numbers against the White Sox: Redord 1-3 ERA 7.94 Games 5 Innings Pitched 34.0 Hits 44 Earned Runs 30 Walks 14 Strike Outs 35
  14. Just a question, but does anyone think that the home run totals at our park has more to do with our lineup than the park itself. I mean it does seem like the ball is flying out a lot more this year than in previous years, however we seem to hit home runs no matter where we play. If we played in the Metrodome I am sure that would become one of the best home run parks. Just a question.
  15. I would like to see another arm in the bullpen as I don't trust Adkins, Rauch, Jackson, or Cotts with the game on the line. It would be nice to have another starter, although I don't think that is completely necessary as you usually go with your top 3 in the playoffs. A left handed bat in the lineup would be nice as well, maybe a solid #2 hitter..
  16. I was reading just earlier this week how Michael Morse was going to take over for Jose possibly as soon as next year. I also heard many displaying their displeasure with including Michael Morse in the deal becuase we don't have any other shortstops in the minors. Now I don't if these were just complaints from pessimistic people thinking that we overpaid or if they were justified complaints. Either way, it is not like I am pulling something out of my ass that is completely unfathomable.
  17. You have a lot of good points. Thank you for sharing and discussing.
  18. Ok just asking, because one of the negatives of yours was that Kenny would get fleeced. Just wanted to make sure that that was not the major thing holding you back here.
  19. 6 years younger than Jose This is supposed to make me feel better that Jose usually goes through routine error crap and Cabrera doesn't? I didn't know 2004 was over yet. 2003 is and Cabrera outperformed Jose in that category in 2003. This is usually more significant on a good team with better players surrounding you. I serioulsy doubt that Montreal is in as many close games as us or in games late in games. They are competing for last place oin all of baseball while the Sox are competing for first in the central. There is a bigger difference in the way you approach things in those different scenarios. Cabrera is not on a good team nor does he have a good supporting cast. I wonder how each would fair if they changed teams. How many more home runs could he hit at the Cell with that lineup surrounding him. If this if that. Blah Blah Blah. I do agree that we need Jose's leadership, left handed bat, and baserunning skills. There is a lot to like about Jose and there are things to dislike, including his fielding and strikeouts.
  20. In the lineup he was in or is in? THe season isn't over yet, so he could rebound in his current situation. In the lineup he was in last year his OPS was .807 last year. Not really sure what you meant by that.
  21. Say we don't give up anything for him and we just sign him as a free agent during the offseason. Would you do it then? I don't think anyone's OPS would be too great in the lineup he is in. Well I won't say anyone's, but very few players would be able to produce with the surrounding cast he has. His career OPS is .723 and Jose's is .781, not that big of difference.
  22. He is younger and better defensively.
  23. Does anyone think we will have a chance to land Cabrera? He seems like an Ozzie type of player. He seems like a good #2 hitter to me and he should become available soon and if not he will be a free agent. Any thoughts? Orlando Cabrera article
  24. Then you have never been to a Hawks/Red Wings game. There are always fights at those games. Rightfully so, those Wing fans are obnoxious with the damn squids and s***.
