The Official Carlos Beltran Traded Thread
southsideirish replied to Mr. Showtime's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Where did gammons get involved in this? I see the article by Jim Molony on the MLB site and read it earlier today. No mention of gammons. Where did this come from? -
Did you watch the game? Jackson was not brought in to face Broussard. Broussard was brought in after they called in Jackson. I guess Ozzie could have called in Dravenshannaglefroogle at that point, but would it have really mattered? We have one guy in the bullpen that gets guys consistently out. ONE GUY!!!!!!! Blame this all you want on the manager, but after seeing Buehrle give up 3 straight hits I saw enough of him. We need a lot of pitching on this staff. A 5th starter and 2 or 3 more bullpen guys. Maybe calling up Baj and Maj from the minors is a start. Something has to be done. I definately wouldn't blame it on Ozzie.

I would like to know the answer to that as well. If anyone here has seen him hit lately then could you please share what you know about the guy. I would appreciate that, thank you very much in advance.
-
No need to rush him. We haven't even missed him. We are still hitting and scoring runs, so let him sit out.
-
It is? How many left handed power hitters are in our organization? I don't think you can give up on this guy so easily especially when we don't have another lefty power hitter. I think we can all agree that Phil Nevin is pretty damn good and he didn't even begin to reach his potentil in MLs until he was 29, after 3 organizations had given up on him. I woud rather part with Jeremy Reed.
-
This whole conversation is idiotic becuase he isn't even a centerfielder. From both sides of town people keep saying they should get him and add him to CF. He has only played 13 MLB games in CF. Just because he has speed and can steal bases does not mean he can play CF. s***, Rickey Henderdson is a pretty good example of that. If I am trading Jeremy Reed or any other top prospect then I am getting a player to play the position I need him to play. Plus, as it has been brought up by others, why the hell would TB trade him? There is no reason what so ever that I can think of.

I wish him luck as well. I like Billy as a person. As a closer he sucks ass.

Check this out: http://www.grandstandsports.com/pages/16249.htm Autographed 2003 Donruss card for $23.40. Is this guy a highly rated prospect or something? Why else would his card actually be going for that much? I find it hard to believe we received a highly rated prospect for Billy Koch. What is going on here?

I'll tell you what. As soon as this asshole we have in office right now shows me how Iraq was in any way involved in the terrorist attack of 9-11 then I will vote for him. As soon as he shows me that Iraq has nuclear weapons or weapons of mass destruction then I will vote for him. Or he can just say he lied about the whole thing. Wait a second. No I won't! I will never vote for this asshole cocksucker liar. Our troops and citizens are over there working their asses off and risking their lives every day for what? A big fat lie! f*** George W. and every thing he stands for. -
There is always a way.

He is still better than Fatolo Colon.

I have never seen Reed play. From what I hear he is a very good minor league hitter that gets on base a lot. That said, he just has average speed and zero power. How will this translate to the major league level? I don't know, but I would rather take my chances on Freddy Garcia. I would like to hear more about Reed from someone that sees him play on a consistent basis. Would you give up Reed for Garcia?

How about signing him and making him our RT and pushing Tait over to LT? Any opnions on this guy? 32 years old. 6'4" 320lbs. He was supposed to replace Tait at RT for the Chiefs. I wonder why KC released him.

So when do we trade Crede?

Is it a sport, part III
southsideirish replied to southsider2k5's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
No way is this a sport. However, if we combine this event with NASCAR then we have a sport. I would watch that. -
I found it guys, thanks! http://baseball-almanac.com/feats/feats-streak.shtml

Can anyone tell me where to find the hit streak leaders? I know Joe Dimaggio is #1 at 56, but who is after that? Pete Rose 44? Is there a list anywhere on the net that lists them? I appreciate anyone who can help me with this as I have searched but can not find it. Thanks everyone!

How is Magglio a wonderful Sox ambassador? I believe a wonderful ambassador does more than just put up numbers. How about someone that can talk to the media and promote the team?
-
I doubt that. Julie has a face for radio.

40 years of ownership bowing down to the Cubs? How is that? The Cubs havent had back to back winning seasons since 1971-72. The Cubs didn't start to outdraw us until the early 80s and didn't outdraw us in the early 90s
