So PS3 will be 600 US dollars. Well screw that.
  2. QUOTE(Hatchetman @ May 8, 2006 -> 06:48 PM) I was looking at his stats and he is walking a boatload of guys. His success may be partially luck - 6 starts isn't exactly statistically significant. But most importantly he hasn't given up a homer all season. If he can keep the ball in the park, he should survive in the majors. He also pitched very well when he was promoted to Bham. It seems he's either very very good or very very bad and this season he's yet to be very very bad. Hopefully that doesn't happen on Wednesday if he does pitch.
  3. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 8, 2006 -> 06:09 PM) It seems like Buerhle's broken foot all over again. To me, it looks like Contreras is feeling better, but probably isn't 100%, so the Sox don't want to take a chance. Maybe tomorrow he is 100% and will make his start Wed. If not,CH gets the nod, but if JC is close to 100%, then maybe the question is whether to DL him, or send someone down. If its 1 start, they could send down Logan, and then after CH's start, send him down and call up Lopez. I think you have to stay down for 10 days or so if you get optioned. Actually, think of it this way. What if the Sox feel Nelson is pretty much ready. They have him pitch in a couple games really quickly in Charlotte. If Jose comes around as planned, the Sox give him a precautionary rest (having him miss one start). To make room the Sox send Logan down and call up Haeger. Than after the game, the Sox send Haeger down and replace him with Nelson, who they want in the rotation. Note: The above is purely me speculating...not going on any sources or inside info.
  4. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ May 8, 2006 -> 06:04 PM) So am I the only one lost or is that a group thing? The front page story has been continously updated so if you check that it should give you a pretty good heads up on whats going on.
  5. QUOTE(JimH @ May 8, 2006 -> 05:53 PM) Exactly, no reason to make an announcement now, even if they knew 100% what they are gonna do. I may ask you to explain this to quickman via IM he is in Seattle at the Mariner game and has been blowing s*** my way for the better part of two hours because he hasn't heard it streaming on the Score or seen it confirmed online. Well if makes Quick feel better, just tell him its only going to be a start or two at the most. I know the idea of a farm hand pitching any longer than that is just scary to Quick
  6. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ May 8, 2006 -> 05:50 PM) The official site says it's a hip problem, true? The problem is with his back and a lot of times if you have a pinched nerve or something along those lines (and I don't know what his back problem is) it can also effect your hip. But the article I read on the official site mentioned both.
  7. QUOTE(fathom @ May 8, 2006 -> 05:47 PM) There's no chance McCarthy will start tomorrow. He even stated in the paper that his arm didn't feel great yesterday after the back-to-back performances. Ya, I know that. I was just responding to Ozzie's quote. I think that Ozzie's quote is a case of trying to keep the Angels off guard. The odds favor the fact that Haeger will be up, but that doesn't mean nothing will happen. I think Coop's quotes say it best and barring really positive news, they will hold him out of the next 2 starts.
  8. QUOTE(TLAK @ May 8, 2006 -> 05:44 PM) Now MLB has it too: MLB Com That whoosing sound you hear is the sigh of releif coming from FutureSox.
  9. QUOTE(whitesox1976 @ May 8, 2006 -> 05:43 PM) If Contreras misses a start, I could see using Mc Carthy to start in place of Jose instead of bringing a guy up from Charlotte. The hard part of that is that Brandon made 2 appearances (Sat and Sunday) and we may be pushing him too soon. I think the last thing Ozzie wants to do (and I realize this is being extremely careful) is to either rush Brandon (and have a guy who is going to be counted upon heavily in our pen) or rush Jose (a guy that is being looked upon to be an ace). If Jose is 100% tomorrow, he pitches (I'm talking in terms of his back), anything less and I think the Sox just let him miss two starts and be extra careful.
  10. If Jose, doesn't go on the DL, who would go down so Haeger could make the extra start? It wouldn't be that big of a deal to send Logan down. One question, when we send Logan down, how long does he have to be down before we can recall him?
  11. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 8, 2006 -> 05:29 PM) I think part of this is wanting to be over cautious with Count (and get him some rest in the process) and another part of it is they want to give Haeger a couple shots with the big club and see how he does, since again we have that luxury right now. I'm not questioning your site or article (which are both good), just saying it's funny how much in a period of several hours a story can twist and turn in this age of the media. Don't worry, my feelings won't get hurt either way. I've been wrong before and I'll be wrong in the future and I could very well be wrong now.
  12. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 8, 2006 -> 05:18 PM) Haha so after all this, it's not even a sure thing that Haegar will get the call, or that Count will go on the DL, or that Count will even miss a start. And worse case senario is he goes on the DL and misses 2 starts. Wonderful, I love the internet and talk radio, just a BIT too over reactive. Basically its up to the Sox. This is nothing serious...rather its pretty much stiffness of the lower back. Sox have been doing treatments (first I know of was yesterday but it could have happened before that). If they want to be careful, they sit Jose for 2 starts (with the best record in baseball we have that luxury); If Jose really is feeling good, he'll be make the scheduled start.
  13. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 8, 2006 -> 04:32 PM) I heard that too. They said it's back not hip, and it still wasn't 100% he is going on the DL. Hell we might all just wake up tomorrow and Jose is fine and Haeger is still in Charlotte. Thats exactly where it stands right now. If things don't get a lot better, they are better safe than sorry and they are taking that approach (Haeger will pitch). If Contreras makes progress with the treatments he had, he won't go on the DL.
  14. QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 8, 2006 -> 04:36 PM) And that's what's still got me wondering......it'd really seem like everyone could just be bumped up with today's off day. But, I'm not a professional baseball type person. I think considering this is a very minor issue with Contreras back, typically (given today's off day) we'd just move the rest of the guys up a day, however with Ozzie being extra cautious since the pitchers threw deep into the post-season, he'd just as well give Haeger a start or two.
  15. QUOTE(quickman @ May 8, 2006 -> 04:23 PM) No disrespect to jason but have we heard anything? I see nothing on any site and I have been listening to the score for the last hour on line. Nothing. I've gotten some sort of verification. However, Jose has not been officially placed on the DL, its just the plan as of now and until he's actually placed on it, anything can happen. But I do know the plan right now is to have Haeger come up and put Jose on the DL. Considering I don't know the extent of his back injury, he could very well wake up tomorrow and be 100% and the Sox could than not go with Haeger.
  16. QUOTE(wcw2323 @ May 8, 2006 -> 04:03 PM) Still waiting for the 50 guys who were naysayers and basic lemmings today to stand up and apologize for the BS they were slinging. I chose to not divulge my source as requested...period, end of story. :finger As someone that actually defended you and added a bit of info, let me just say that I'm sure everyone appreciates the heads up on that. People in general are reluctant to trust someone on a web, but your proved your credibility. However, there are more respectful ways to say you were right. Now just tell us that you can see into the future and Haeger picks up a W on Wednesdsay
  17. QUOTE(aboz56 @ May 8, 2006 -> 03:38 PM) When he his walk totals down, let me know. 21 walks in 24 innings won't get it done. We don't want Neal Cotts debut part II. He does have nice numbers overall though. Right now, I'll take Broadway and his nice AA numbers. I know you think he's not ready, but since he is a college guy I think he's closer than a lot of people give credit for. And calling up Broadway, whose not ready, and we would be starting our 2nd best pitching prospects clock, when he isn't expected to be a mainstay in the rotation for 1-2 more years, would not be wise. Tracey's control has been much better since he moved back to the rotation.
  18. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 8, 2006 -> 03:35 PM) 6:20 SC update... SAID IT IS BACK NOT HIP, REPORTS OF HIP WERE FALSE So I was RIGHT all along
  19. QUOTE(aboz56 @ May 8, 2006 -> 03:34 PM) My choices for this are either: 1. Haeger 2. Broadway That's it. No one else would even be considered. Sean Tracey should be #2 on that list.
  20. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 8, 2006 -> 03:27 PM) Didn't he get roughed up a bit this spring, and then they had Charlie Hough work with him a bit? He's been as good as you can be at Charlotte, and was pretty good his last spring training outing. He was hammered in the spring, but finished things off with a really nice outing against the Braves. I think theyd id bring in Hough, but not positive with that.
  21. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ May 8, 2006 -> 03:20 PM) Huh. That's pretty hard for a knuckleballer. Ya, which is why I think many in the org are intrigued with his potential. He wasn't originally a knuckler, than again most pitchers aren't, but Haeger retired from the club and than started working on a knuckler (in fact I think a coach tried to help him with it) and than he came back and boy did he come back. I believe that is Haegs story at least.
  22. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ May 8, 2006 -> 03:14 PM) So what's the scouting report on Haeger? He throws 90?, 95?, what? Haeger throws the knuckler (obviously), a mid to upper 80's fastball, and an ocassional slider. Also, here's an image of him pitching (you can see it on our story at FutureSox, but if this works right, it will also show up in the post).
  23. QUOTE(fathom @ May 8, 2006 -> 03:03 PM) If Haeger fails, and Contreras is on the DL for a month or more, McCarthy's going to have to move back into the rotation. Hopefully, Nelson will show he still has the ability to get some righties out, and he can go into the bullpen. Haeger isn't being called up to make more than 1 or 2 starts. I think this is mainly precautionary. No reason to have him go early on and end up adjsuting his delivery because he's in pain and than having him blow his elbow or tear something in his shoulder because he's adjusting from the pain in his hip.
  24. QUOTE(fathom @ May 8, 2006 -> 03:02 PM) BTW, did the radio reports happen to state anything about structural issues regarding the hip? It sounds like its more precautionary, but I haven't heard any of the radio reports.
  25. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ May 8, 2006 -> 02:52 PM) We are in a bad way right now. The no injury streak has run out and conflicting reports have Dye still hurting. F. As that conflicting report, I should reiterate that while Dye is still hurt, it isn't supposed to be a long term thing.
