  1. I'm pretty sure it will be a one day type thing. I'm gonna be like you though and try to make it to all 3 games, but I'll probably only go to two.

Very sad indeed. My prayers go out to the families and friends of thos that were harmed.
  3. I think Mark is a very confident pitcher, just doesn't want to start something in the clubhouse. Also, I think the Sox are very serious at picking up another starter or going with possibly Josh Stewart and carrying 2 lefties in the starting rotation, and if they do that, then Buerhle would have to be the 2, cause JM doesn't want to throw 2 lefties back to back.

Well, if Harris rocks at the start of the season, Rowand will lose his starting job. I'd love it if Harris got it into gear, cause him and Jimenez at the top of the lineup would be sweet. We'd have some serious speed.

Kevin Towers rocks. He knows minor leaguers and typically pulls off very good deals, despite working with no payroll.
  6. I'm with you all on that. One thing, the hosting team should always have a player make the all star team.

Disagree; Alou has proven he can put up huge numbers, health is the only Xfactor with him. With Carlos, he's yet to prove anything.
  8. I definately disagree with this in many regards. Now I do think he's broughten up some big time weaknesses. I'm not comfortable with Manos and his high k totals and low batting average in the two hole; not to mention his low obp. I love Jimenez but still, he's got a lot to prove. Then when it comes to center and catching, its something many others have questioned? One thing I do know is that Olivo is a big time defensive catcher and may be better then many catchers in the majors in his Rookie season, but I can't guarantee anything yet. Still, that aside, Frank, Magglio, Pk, Caballo...thats a very strong middle of the lineup and i don't care what handed they are. Bottom line is, good hitters will hit a pitcher whether they are right or left handed. You don't hit for a high avg, as a rigthy if you can't hit other righties, since the majority of major leaguers are righties. An all lefty lineup can get whipped up on when they face a lefty pitcher, but thats simply because since they started playing ball they don't face as many lefties and aren't used to them. Righties still have an advantage on righties, but when you got good hitters, they'll get it done. Also, Crede won't have too much pressure and if he keeps up what he did last season, it should be sweet. The last player to make a callup late in the season and hit like Crede hit was Magglio and he just kept getting better. I hope Crede can do the same.

You may end up getting lucky, it doesn't look like Heather is around today. Trust me Doub, your team is far better then mine. Cal State Fullerton blows at basketball. Good think they rock at baseball

  11. Whimpy and Hawk are awesome. I also think Steve Stone is an awesome announcer and would be a great pitching coach.
  12. welcome I'll second that welcome!!!!!!!
  13. I think its rather good that the manager doesn't chose everyone cause its nepetism.
  14. Cerbaho (Mike Doyle) is going to have something up on that probably this week. We've been a bit delayed in our previews, but they will talk about the newcomers as well as the people staying there for some experience. They should get some really good talent though, as the Sox are stacked at the lower level. By the way Bullard, tomorrow I'll be watching my Titans (Go Cal State Fullerton) as they defeat the Mighty Stanford Cardinals. Also as far as my favorite minor leaguer, I'm starting to really like Bullard. I was always a Buerhle fan when he was in the minors and typically my favorite pitchers are those lefties that don't get enough recognition. Hopefully one day you'll be exciting all of us while pitching at Comiskey (I'll still call it that). Thanks for all the info you've given us posters here.
  15. I'm kinda intrigued as to why munoz isn't being converted into a starter....... I mean if he doesn't have the stamina..... thats one thing...... but why not give it a shot, because all things indicate that this guy has dynamite stuff. I believe that they have talked about it but want to wait until the season starts, as he has had an extended workload over the past months. Hopefully they give the kid a little rest, then see what he can do. If he can take the innings, he's got a real shot I think. They have said that they want to convert him to the rotation, but are going to start him off very very slow the first month or two because of all the innings he's pitched. I think he'll have a full season in the minors and he'll go to the rotation in the 2nd half and won't pitch winterball next year, because his arm could use the rest. I wouldn't even use him in Spring Training much if at all, because he just needs and deserves some rest.
  16. The key is we don't have any reason to stick with a guy like Ritchie for a long time, unless it is Colon, but I don't see him struggling unless he is hurt. We stuck with Ritchie because the Sox gave up so much for him, and the fact that the younger players weren't ready. Now we have Loiza, Heredia and Josh Stewart right there if any of the starters falter or get hurt. When it comes to the bullpen, theres Munoz, Sanders, and Almonte ready and waiting if anyone falters or gets hurt. Then in the infield we have Thomas if PK goes down or vice versa. Borchard in the outfield, Hummel/Harris in the infield. Catching wise, that Burke guy.
  17. JR has supposedly promised that the Comiskey name will somehow be utilized in a way around the stadium, but that doesn't mean its mentioned in the stadium name.

If it means the stadium gets that homer porch and looks really sweet, then I'm all for it.

I think if I could go back in time, I'd like to see the Negro Leagues and majors mix, so everyone could see and hear of all the amazing negro league players that never got a shot to prove themselves.

I can't see Virginia supporting a team. I really don't see many places baseball should go to. I think they have enough problems with a couple locations out there as it is, but DC does make some sense to me.

Sox fans are definately more loyal and there are fewer of them, but I love having a ton of diehards. One thing I notice about many Cub fans is they go for the show; thats not all of them, but most of them. A homer is great to them, even if they lose the game, at least they saw Sammy homer. Well, thats probably why Sammy is always swinging for the stinking fences, instead of just looking for one run if the team needs a sac fly, etc.

Ya, Rowand always had a pretty solid arm. Interesting that he won't be the starting centerfielder. I guess Harris will be out there, or will it be Rios? Did he say it was because of his injury?

I like Pat Gillick. He's up there with Billy Beane, imo.

Not at all Mike...Hope you have fun there
  25. To me the other big detriment of the park are high ticket prices. Out here in Anaheim, you can see a ball game really cheap and be on the lower level. With AAA discount its 11 bucks and your in the terrace, which is right on the field level, but back a bit or for 13 you can be on the field. 7 bucks and your in left.
