  1. I'm thinking Shaq is going to be motivated to play and he will own Yao. Yao is really talented though and I'll be rooting for Yao.
  2. He is hinting that he's going to take a season off.
  3. Curry isn't as good as chandler. Latest I heard is talks of a Kwame for Curry deal are around and there is a good chance the deal will happen. I'll take Kwame anyday of the week over Eddy and I think the Wizards want to get rid of him, because he doesn't get along with Jordan. Curry figured out is so hard to play in front of the home town crowd in chicago. To me its a perfect deal...and I'd like to see it get done.
  4. Michelle is just a diehard Sox fan who has so much love for the team. She is an awesome person and someone I respect a whole lot. Our views on optimism and such disagree, as do mine with many posters, but one thing for sure is all of us on these boards are die hard Sox fans. Michelle has been one for a long time and she supports the Sox through thick and thin. I also think she's very fed up with the way things have been ran for years and when your as serious about her towards the Sox, one great move doesn't make you forget everything else. Hopefully KW and management continue to improve and put a real winner out on the field that wins the series and goes into the playoffs this year.
  5. Defensively there outfield is horrible. Alou is similar to Lee, and Patterson gets terrible jumps and reads on the ball. As far as Sammy goes, he may be the worse defensive right fielder in baseball. I've never seen more boneheaded plays where he misses the cut off man or throws to the wrong base. A lot of the time, he plays like he just isn't thinking out there. Ordonez is at least solid, Rowand is solid/with a good arm, and Lee is improving, but still horrible. I also think Ordonez is a more complete player then Sosa. There numbers aren't all that different, minus the homers, but Ordonez is younger and still coming into his zone. Sammy is still an incredible player though. Of course, the Cubs don't even compete with the Sox in the infield. Konerko wins at first, Hill/Jimenez is a push, Manos over Gonzalez (This is coming from my bias self that hates Manos), and Crede is a push with Bellhorn, but has way more potential. I only call it a push because Bellhorn had a pretty good year. Then behind the plate I like Olivo and Miller as a push. Both are good defensively, Olivo hasn't proven anything at the plate; Miller is just lousy at the plate.
  6. Heres the problem...it should be best record. Of course this will make the all star game more competitive, but remember, many of the players there could give a rats ass about where the World Series is going to be played, cause they are on crappy teams that aren't in competition.
  7. I would like to see documented proof of that for the record. Ray's word is good enough for me. I've known Ray for 6 years and Crystal for almost 8 years. I was friends with Crystal before she even met Ray and was dating JB. I'm not going to get into anymore details about who and what I may or may not know.. but a lot of people at WSI and the AOL boards know my facts are facts. Besides, Ray would not lie. Steff...I respect that knowledge and want to thank you for your insite. I think that the Sox would have an awesome lineup if they had Durham here with Jimenez at short leading off and Jose Valentin somewhere else. I've said this for a while. Think of a lineup with Jimenez Durham Thomas Ordonez Konerko Caballo Manos Crede Olivo That would be really good, and Ray is a way better offensive player then Jose; He's a better base stealer, and is a better #2 hitter then Manos. Oh ya, Ray is also better defensively at second with Jimenez at short, then having Jose at short. We are also paying Jose quite a bit. Of course, that isn't an option anymore, but I always wish we would of kept Ray. I loved his hustle and all that stuff. He did have his mental lapses, but he always was very cool. What your saying Steff, it would definately explain why he lashed out at the organization after the trade. He always said he loved the Sox and said how he'd take less and all that stuff. Those are things he was quoted with the year before he was dealt or so.
  8. No one, they are just replacing Osuna, who was traded, with Gordon.
  9. Wunsch doesn't blow me away, but last year, once he got healthy, he was really very consistent and a pretty darn good pitcher. He is real good with opposing lefties and thats a nice thing to have in the pen. Then you have Marte that is nasty with lefties, but can also get the righties. Marte did struggle last year with inherited runners. I also think there is a stat somewhere that keeps track on the % of inherited runners that score or something along those lines.
  10. Monday is when everything is supposed to be announced.
  11. Heres what the bullpen will look like Koch, Gordon, Marte, Glover, Wunsch...those guys are all set. Then the Sox, who have said they will carry 11 pitchers (5 staters, 6 relievers) have the option of Munoz, Sanders, Ginter, Porzio, Almonte, Stewart or a free agent signing. The 5 above is set, as long as Flash passes his phyiscal.
  12. I can't see the Twins paying him the money cause he's gonna get at least 8 mill a year or thats what he deserves, especially if thats what Erstad gets paid. He'll agree on arbitration and get big bucks and eventually get dumped, maybe even this year if the Twins fall into a big hole (I'm hoping)
  13. Royce Ring= another thought came to me, this kind of an act may be good in college, hs or even maybe in the minors, but do you think it will work in the majors? All I can say is Hells Bells!!!! In case people out of California don't know, its the song Trevor Hoffman comes out to every time he comes in and the stadium goes nuts. Remember, he may be the best closer in baseball!!! I love having a closer with attitude and nothing is better for a closer then getting real pumped up. For starters, that adrenaline screws them up, but for closers, many of them need it.
  14. I wish they would of talked about Munoz, but it was nice they mentioned Diaz for a second.
  15. absolutely right. We have nothing clinched, other than the St Louis rams and their super bowl of last January and the Miami Hurricanes and the Fiesta Bowl win. We have more players, more tools, but we still have to win the games. And that requires our ability to do, just as HSC says. This team is going to be very talented, but they also going to have to want to win. If the players don't have the will, nothing will happen with this club. Luckily I think this team is real motivated and with a couple of clubhouse problems and a bad pitching coach gone, we should be much better this upcoming season, and I mean much better. Anything less then the division will get Jerry Manuel fired.

    munoz

All signs point to him getting a good amount of playing time in AAA this year. I have heard the Sox are going to be careful in regards to his work load, since he pitched so much last season and in winter leagues. They said they are going to start him off very slowly.
  17. Lowe isn't very good. Last season his era was in the 5's and he couldn't stick with a lousy Pittsburgh team.
  18. Thats interesting. I'm glad we got Colon over Rogers.
  19. I heard somewhere that he was offered a 40 million buck contract from one of the Japanese teams. Still, I just don't think its all about the money with Pudge (IROD). Irod wants to play and get his hall of fame credentials and I think he wants to do it in the majors, not elsewhere. JR, KW, if your reading this, Please go after him with a one year deal...I don't know how I could thank you all, but I'd be very very PLEASED!!!!
  20. Here Ya Go....I just noticed the site is back up White Sox Sign Gordon; Rios http://www.soxnet.net/snreport/393-1.15.html
  21. You know what I mean. Next year is the same as this year for me. Get it...Wait till Next Year...oh wait, it is NEXT YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!
  22. I think that would be real cool. I always like hearing the players talk, especially the smarter ones. Its also cool when they interview the coaches during a game (Like the pitching coach), but I wonder how much of a distraction stuff like that is.
  23. I'm going to wait and see what he looks like when I'm at spring training. Until then I'm going to let this relax me on this regard, and if he's not in that shape right now, hopefully he works his butt off and gets into shape.
  24. The lineup isn't the same. Jimenez, Rowand, Crede, Olivo, thats 4/9ths of a change. The rotation also has 2 new members, one being Rauch, the other a 20 game winner. Then the bullpen has been rejuvenated. Also, take a look at the record down the stretch for the Sox..it was pretty darn good. Also, we have a super young team that should grow, meaning they should be better next year.

    jose

Well, let me first say Jose is no leadoff hitter. Secondly, I never want to see Manos back as our starting shortstop. He stinks defensively. That being said, I do want him starting there this year, over a rookie, simply because we have enough of the younger guys playing other positions that its nice to have veteran support. Jimenez will be sucessful, imo, and he is the leadoff hitter, if he fails, then they'll let Harris leadoff and at worse Rowand or Humell. Manos won't leadoff.
