  1. Ahh, so the NY Slimes is brought in to support the thinking here. Thanks, I'll pass. Again, as I've said so many times before, the truth lies somewhere in the middle. I am also in the camp that there's reasons way beyond what any of us REALLY know as to why we are where we are. We sit here and throw dung around as if we really know what we're talking about, and I don't think any of us do. We counter and counter point using whatever biased report supports our belief. At the end of the day, I don't think ANY of us know the real reason(s).
  2. QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 15, 2005 -> 06:49 PM) Yes. I have. I have a nice picture of her next to the computer at home. Poophead.
  3. QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 15, 2005 -> 06:45 PM) Madison is his daughter.. I'm pretty sure I'll know her. Have you seen her yet? Then you don't know Madison. I want to get up there to see her and the rest of the clan... but that's not happening anytime soon the way things are going here.
  4. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 15, 2005 -> 06:40 PM) This can be partially proven incorrect by what we already have learned...we can't prove the rest until the Republicans allow the senate to complete Phase 2 of that investigation, but here's a prime example. The details of the UAV's were fully known at the time. In fact, after Bush made one of those claims, the Iraqis even allowed some reporters to see where they were housed, and the bloody things were held together by duct tape. But that is not what Congress was hearing...Congress was hearing that those things could be used to launch an attack on the U.S. mainland. Ok, that may be true, but if they had the weapons, you're saying that they couldn't have repaired them to a usable state? That's one of the things that I don't or haven't understood. We did find things - but they were in "dis-repair"... so these people were just stupid and couldn't put things back together and use them however they saw fit? There have been mulitple people that have said the programs existed, they were told to lay low until they were called upon to "restart" the programs. OF COURSE they weren't going to be doing this stuff with the possibility of inspections happening. But there's nothing to say that this stuff could not have been used again at some point.
  5. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Nov 15, 2005 -> 06:39 PM) Well she wears a large in mens, OK? That's pretty good.
  6. QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 15, 2005 -> 06:34 PM) You don't. Madison does. Isn't that great? You have a kid, and you don't get any more presents. The kids get them all. That means this is my last Christmas.
  7. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Nov 15, 2005 -> 05:45 PM) Yeah, IIRC they got the last increase after 9-11 and Anthrax stuff right? Fuel has got to be their big cost now, and I doubt they are effecient enough to actually hedge their costs like some of the airlines do. Now, now... Read the thread again... who moves the mail? FED-EX. And yep, they hedge.
  8. Dammit, what are the Democrats going to do to get more money and win the election? Wasn't that the point of this thread?
  9. And yes, it SHOULD have been different, but it wasn't. The point remains that I think they all knew a lot more then they are CURRENTLY leading us to believe.
  10. Why, then, were the quotes coming from the Congress the same before 2001 as they were after? The data seen was from a DEMOCRATIC White House. Something tells me that the intelligence gathered 1-2 years later wasn't that much different then what they had already seen from 1990-2001.
  11. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Nov 15, 2005 -> 05:33 PM) Please don't lump all Democrats in the same boat. A lot of us are concerned - but most of us are not advocating a cut and run strategy. A lot of us are very concerned though with the path that our President took us to where we are. A lot of us are very concerned with the lack of foresight for this situation we are in now. A lot of us are very concerned with the future of Iraq - because it will play a big part in the future of us. The problem lies in that it seems as if people who are in the halls of power and are making the decisions seem less concerned with doing the right thing and more concerned with what the public wants or feeding their own egos. Dissent in the intelligence gathering community appears to have been stifled. Different points of view in the NSA appears to have been stifled. And we have an administration that apparently out and out lied about whether this situation could have ended peacefully in the first place. And to be honest, until those situations are addressed - we need to hear more about the loss of American life in this operation and less about whether or not a fresh coat of paint and a handful of books were passed out in Baghdad. I agree with the sentiment of your post in that we should all be concerned. However, OUR ENTIRE GOVERNMENT, whether Deomocratic or Republican, Congress or CIA, FAILED US. To pin it solely at the feet of George W. Bush I have a problem with. You all say that it was HIS decision to go to war. Hmm, funny, I think Congress passed a resolution for it as well. I think they ALL have blood on their hands, and they are ALL playing Mickey Mouse poltical football over it, and that's SICKENING as soldiers continue to die.
  12. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Nov 15, 2005 -> 05:18 PM) I'm sorry Kap - but this unless the news is "bad" horses*** is just that. If the news isn't bad but isn't extraordinary - it's not news. It's the American government just doing its job. If that is newsworthy, that's a sad state of affairs for this country. I somewhat agree. Where I disagree is, you hear EVERY SINGLE DAY about a soldier who died on ABCNews. But do you ever hear about schools being rebuilt? Infastructure that is being rebuilt? We're constantly being reminded about deaths, and the insurgent's activity. But we're not hearing a lot about the other stuff. Granted, hearing a soldier's death should give us all pause, but I bet it doesn't for most, sadly. It's only on the news because it's "bad" news, and I know you differ with me on this point, but it's more true then not. It's a reminder to the Democrats looking for blood in the water that we shouldn't be there at all.
  13. Speaking of payroll transfers and Fed-Ex, a Fed-Ex plane with paychecks for my wife's companies' El Paso store mysteriously ran into bad weather in Memphis a couple of weeks ago (weather.com had a perfectly good weather report, IMAGINE THAT). So, ADP had to re-run all the payroll checks for El Paso. Oops... they forgot to turn off all the direct deposits (which of course is mostly management). That was a costly mistake. Good thing it was ADP's fault. So a wire went out with all the cash and the deposits from the reversals came in one at a time. What a pain in the ass for the payroll people (aka my wife).
  14. BTW, I think I'll add that BOTH sides of the media machine are spinning loudly on this deal. The loudmouth AM media want you to believe that we're s***ting rose petals over there, and the "mainstream" media wants us to believe we're doing nothing but clogging up the streets with bullets, explosives, and carcasses of a sovereign nation over there. The truth, as always, is somewhere in the middle.
  15. QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 15, 2005 -> 05:09 PM) Accounting manager made a $235K "mistake"... :headshake meh, I do that in my sleep. But we have 1.2 billion of revenue a quarter to hide it in. Juuuuuuuuust kidding... I don't make those big'a mistakes.
  16. If you want to know all the "Black Friday" sales, this website is IT. http://blackfriday.gottadeal.com/ LET THE MADNESS BEGIN!!!!
  17. QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 15, 2005 -> 04:54 PM) So are we.. and they made a gazillion bucks off that deal.. No s*** they did. Fed-ex fleeced the post office. And fleeced damn near every freight airline and HASP network in the country. Monopoloistic bastards.
  18. Come on. #1,#2,#3... has been repeated ad naseum ... but funny how the spin machine doesn't want to report it that way. Hell, there's a speech or press conference updating us damn near every day on what's going on over there. Unless the news is "bad", it never hits the airwaves. #2 especially frosts my ass because it has been said since day ONE that we are not staying over there. Again, funny how that falls through the cracks of the media spin machine.
  19. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Nov 15, 2005 -> 04:44 PM) Why not just make it 40 cents and save another rate increase proposal in a year? To be honest with the increase in gas prices I am surprised they aren't looking for a bigger jump. The post office was making a mint off the .37 cents for a while. They did a lot of re-bidding moving the postal mail around, cut costs, and fuel wasn't an issue really until about 15-18 months ago. In case you didn't know it, Fed-Ex moves most of the mail around now. I'm VERY familiar how all that went down.
  20. Postal rates are going up 2 cents on January 8, 2006.
  21. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Nov 15, 2005 -> 04:22 PM) I come back to my job six months after I left it... and at work, I was still logged in to Soxtalk. Now that's funny. And longevity.
  22. My favorite is it takes two hours to watch 60 minutes. That's hilarious.
  23. For everyone who has ever had or given an evaluation - just remember, it could have been worse. These are actual quotes taken from Federal Government employee performance evaluations. 1. "Since my last report, this employee has reached rock-bottom and has started to dig." 2. "I would not allow this employee to breed." 3. "This employee is really not so much of a has-been, but more of a definite won't be." 4. "Works well when under constant supervision and cornered like a rat in a trap." 5. "When she opens her mouth, it seems that it is only to change feet." 6. "This young lady has delusions of adequacy." 7. "He sets low personal standards and then consistently fails to achieve them." 8. "This employee is depriving a village somewhere of an idiot." 9. "This employee should go far, and the sooner he starts, the better." 10. "Got a full 6-pack, but lacks the plastic thingy to hold it all together." 11. "A gross ignoramus -- 144 times worse than an ordinary ignoramus." 12. "He doesn't have ulcers, but he's a carrier." 15. "He's been working with glue too much." 16. "He would argue with a signpost." 17. "He brings a lot of joy whenever he leaves the room." 18. "When his IQ reaches 50, he should sell." 19. "If you see two people talking and one looks bored, he's the other one." 20. "A photographic memory but with the lens cover glued on." 21. "A prime candidate for natural de-selection." 22. "Donated his brain to science before he was done using it." 23. "Gates are down, the lights are flashing, but the train isn't coming." 24. "He's got two brains cells, one is lost and the other is out looking for it." 25. "If he were any more stupid, he'd have to be watered twice a week." 26. "If you give him a penny for his thoughts, you'd get change." 27. "If you stand close enough to him, you can hear the ocean." 28. "It's hard to believe he beat out 1,000,000 other sperm." 29. "One neuron short of a synapse." 30. "Some drink from the fountain of knowledge; he only gargled." 31. "Takes him 2 hours to watch '60-minutes'." 32. "The wheel is turning, but the hamster is dead" 33. "Dimmest crayon in the 64 crayon box"
  24. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Nov 15, 2005 -> 07:19 AM) Actually, the Dems came up with a plan on how to handle the Iraq situation right now. Which is more than you can say about the Bush administration as of late. Please enlighten me. What is that plan?
