  1. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 02:08 AM) POST OF THE MONTH!!!! You offer very little knowledgable value, get off my back and stick to hockey... Wow, talk about the pot calling the kettle black.
  2. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 02:04 AM) Exactly...when you know the outcome of something is ok and all is well, it is ok to laugh and thankfully, yes, the kid is ok. Lighten up people. :rolly
  3. I'd leave in Politte to face A-Rod and then hand it to Cotts, but whatever.
  4. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 01:56 AM) Stop now. Please. ^^^^^^
  5. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 01:54 AM) That was the funniest moment I have ever seen in baseball. How did the kid fall? :headshake
  6. Smallball! ™ ... Wait -- no! Smartball ™!
  7. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 01:22 AM) What the hell are you talking about? Sarcasm says hello.
  8. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 01:17 AM) Gload proved himself in the majors last year....Bajenaru didn't. This team needs offensive help from the left side....not another righty reliever. Yeah, I'm just saying, it must suck seeing guys like Timo Perez stay over you for Ross Gload, comparable to seeing guys like Kevin Walker and Jon Adkins over Baj.
  9. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 01:14 AM) It was 2 on, 1 out thanks to our fearless number 5 hitter. I wonder what Ross Gload is thinking about in Charlotte right now? I'm not going to get into conspiracy theories....but something stinks. Probably feeling about as s***ty as Jeff Bajenaru. Numbers don't matter. We gotta keep the chemistry, and you two guys don't add much to the clubhouse! Jon Adkins and Timo Perez, YES!
  10. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 01:12 AM) 3-1 not 3-0 Timo Perez ought to be beaten for f***ing up that big inning. Same for Rowand, but a little less, 'cause he's somewhat good. And Crede, a little more than Rowand, but less than Timo.
  11. Why the f*** is Rowand swinging 3-0? Mercy... Ack, meant 3-1. All the same.
  12. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 01:01 AM) CERA is of course the most important stat though, and A.J would be one of the league leaders no doubt. I have no problem with AJ defensively, especially if this 20 HR thing he's got goin' on this year is going to continue for the next three-four years. Plus, he's pretty damn good at blocking balls in the dirt. Gosh, are Konerko and Iguchi the ONLY two guys in this lineup who realize that Chacon walks an awful lot of guys?
  13. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 01:00 AM) AJ's thrown out runner ratio is so decieving this year, he never has a shot with the cubans and freddy out there. He has a weak arm, though. But yes, I agree with you that his throw-out % is extremely decieving.
  14. That Comcast commercial sucks. He's yelling, "The cycle!", and Paul Konerko is the one on the TV screen.
  15. How 'bout not stealing and letting our best hitter in the lineup hit with a runner on base?
  16. Why not just call up Ross Gload? He's (Owens) not great at stealing bases. He's 31/47 on the year, so he's right about at the break even point. He wouldn't play much, either -- Ozzie's got Timo. Gload should be up here. It's dumb that he isn't up here. It's absolutely silly that we have a guy who put up a 115 OPS+ down in the minors (in a sizeable amount of at-bats, too).

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 06:40 AM) I'll be a senior this year at U of I, and my major is training soxnbears to be just like me. LOL I thought you were getting into Law/Security?
  18. Soxbadger, I assume you go to U of Wisconsin? How do you like it there? I'm looking at there and Marquette right now... I'm taking, this year: AP European History AP English (Lots of book reading -- ugh) Pre-Calc/Trig Economics Socialogy/Phsychology (sp sp) Junior/Senior PE I'm looking forward to AP Euro. I (for the most part) enjoyed taking AP American History my junior year, so I'm hoping Euro is even better.
  19. QUOTE(MurcieOne @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 04:28 AM) Locker boxed with a blocker? Yikes.... thats pretty heavy duty i'd take you on with a blocker though anyways. Im undefeated with a record of 20something 0 and 1 tie after we both got bloody. Im comfortable with handling a goalie. Yeah, you could take on Pauly -- he's such a pussy. But seriously, I shouldn't be talking. If I ever fought in a hockey game, I would try to get a kick in, and then just skate away...

QUOTE(KJean @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 04:09 AM) I'm a Accounting and Finance major. I went there knowing I wanted to major in Accounting, but just recently decided to double major. The College of Business is great with exposing you to all different types of majors (well they actually require you to take a bunch of different classes in and out of the college of business) and it's "easy" to pick up a second major or minor the way the programs are set up. I can't speak from personal experience about the university helping with deciding majors. But they give you the flexibility to take a huge variety of classes that sound appealing to you, esp. if you're undecided cause then you'll probably go into the College of Arts and Sciences. My roommate started as a Journalism major but switched to Broadcast Communication this past year and she didn't loose any credits or have any go to waste. Plus it doesn't really matter if you're undecided your frosh or soph year, it actually can be quite good because then you can take a variety of different classes and such. Wooo sorry that was long, hope it helped. No, I definitely appreciate the knowledge, KJean. See, a major like Accounting or Financing seems to be right up my alley. I believe that's what my mom majored in, and Math has come pretty easy to me always. The problem that I have is I don't apply myself -- the whole solving equations thing to me just gets boring, but it's easy -- and I can see myself doing something with real-world numbers. Or, maybe I just have an ass-backwards view of what Accounting/Financing is...
  21. QUOTE(MurcieOne @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 04:19 AM) I'd like to take this time to mention the fact that we offer an ignore feature at Soxtalk.com..... where one can choose to ignore another posters opinions. Both of you should consider this option... or learn to get along. Or... in honor of it being a hockey thread... DROP THE GLOVES!

QUOTE(KJean @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 03:41 AM) I go to Marquette University right now, I'm going to start my Junior year in a few weeks. I love it there. It's a great campus, the people are nice, and there are some great teachers at MU. And it's in downtown Milwaukee so there's always something to do. Plus it's away from home (Aurora, IL), but not too far away! Love it and can't wait to move back. Can I ask you what you're majoring in, and did you know what you were majoring in before your freshman year? I'm undecided as of right now. I have an idea. Do they (the university) help you w/r/t getting you help with deciding your major?

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 03:30 AM) GPA: 4.0 ACT: 32 -Worth no extra money in college for me. Bupkus. Pissed me off, kinda. Any classes I would've gotten out of due to these two, AP and college credit clases got me out of. Going into journalism and mass communication. 32 on your ACT?!?!?! f***in' nerd...
