  1. QUOTE (Nokona @ Aug 29, 2008 -> 10:01 AM) So we have the VP of the Republicans whose husband works for BP. ohhhh I didnt know that!
  2. Funny Digg Title: McCain's VP: Strong in the war on... polar bears
  3. QUOTE (DABearSoX @ Aug 29, 2008 -> 10:00 AM) I may be wrong but aren't the cabinet choices made after the election? If so the VP choice has to be more important at this point in time. Typically yes. But there has been an argument made in recent elections that the candidates should announce their cabinet before we elect them so we know the full package.
  4. QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 29, 2008 -> 09:57 AM) Pay attention to the state polls, not the national polls. Agreed but I also believe the national polls can be a "forerunner" of state polls. I like this example by Chuck Todd: 0-3% is a tight race where one state will make the difference. 3-6% is a strong win in the electoral college 6-10% is an electoral college landslode
  5. Obama spokesman Bill Burton: Today, John McCain put the former mayor of a town of 9,000 with zero foreign policy experience a heartbeat away from the presidency. Governor Palin shares John McCain's commitment to overturning Roe v. Wade, the agenda of Big Oil and continuing George Bush's failed economic policies -- that's not the change we need, it's just more of the same.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 29, 2008 -> 09:45 AM) Come on, have a little more class than that. what? she's good looking. Is it wrong to say that? I dont like her politics, but she is attractive.
  7. On a side note: the DNC now needs to regroup. No doubt they had LOADS of stuff to unload on McCain / Romney.
  8. QUOTE (DABearSoX @ Aug 29, 2008 -> 09:32 AM) Since most of the people who have been participating in the Filibuster for the last week or so are in here...I would like to say thank you, this has been a pleasent release from White Sox baseball talk. Mostly the people who depress me....its funny you would think politics would piss me off more, but no, just wild negativity for a first place team... GO SOX!!!
  9. She's a MILF. I"ll give her credit for that.
  10. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Aug 29, 2008 -> 10:26 AM) Hillary's position on this could be very interesting as well. The Dems could let her loose to attack. oh good call. CAT FIGHT!
  11. QUOTE (Reddy @ Aug 29, 2008 -> 09:00 AM) only thing is, this actually makes life harder for Biden. remember... he can be somewhat of a loose cannon. it'd be fine if he went hardcore after a male VP but with her... i can't wait till he says something that gets spun as 'sexist' I just got to thinking as I was driving to work, how readily will McCain use the "dont attack her... she's a woman" line? We have seen over the last month that they have no shame in using his POW experience as shield on every possible political attack. How long until every attack on Palin is defended with a "dont attack the woman" kind of line? McCain has now set up a great political shield: Dont attack him, he's a POW. Dont attack her, she's a woman.
  12. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Aug 29, 2008 -> 08:57 AM) That hardly seems like a big deal, at all political firing *cough* Justice department *cough*
  13. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 29, 2008 -> 09:42 AM) I don't see this as a winning combination. What will she even talk about in the debates? Caribou? Moose > Iraq
  14. Pat Buchanan: Biggest Political Gamble in Recent Political History
  15. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 29, 2008 -> 09:37 AM) I don't know much about her, but damn she is young, quite a contrast to McCain. She is the same age as my Mom. Her oldest daughter is pretty darn good lookin (not sure of her age)
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 29, 2008 -> 09:26 AM) It's Palin, according to Fox. You have to wonder if this move was made with the focus on getting Hillary's voters to vote for McCain. Totally a political move. Palin: 2 years as Governor, before... mayor of of a town of 7500. THAT'S inexperience at its best.
  17. PS: If it's Palin... now THAT is inexperience. She's only been in office for 2 years (Obama has 12+ years in state and national service). That moots McCain's "Obama's not ready" argument. Obama could throw it right back at him.
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 29, 2008 -> 07:45 AM) Sarah Palin is what CNBC is reporting. But ABC reports she is still in Alaska.
  19. Romney and Pawlety are not the VP according to NBC. My guess is it's a women.
  20. To paraphrase what Howard Fineman just said on MSNBC: In his "listening post", he has talked to a lot of republican / McCain people. The McCain campaign soiled themselves tonight. They did NOT see some of what Obama said coming. They were caught flat footed. They are planning a soft, low key, "boring" by comparison convention. That isnt good for them.
  21. "whoever didn't get picked for Republican VP today may be a lucky Republican."
  22. QUOTE (YASNY @ Aug 28, 2008 -> 10:28 PM) The question is, can it be sustained? I hope I am wrong, but no. Not 10. Maybe 5 is a solid and reasonable number to hold. As was pointed out by a mayor (not sure) in the twin cities... "I know Tim Pawlenty and he wont step on an Obama bounce" So if it's Obama / Biden v McCain / Pawlenty... McCain is in a lot of trouble. Tim Pawlenty is the "do no harm" candidate while Biden is the "i'll go harm them" candidate. PS: If the GOP has to postpone the convention, that's gonna hold an Obama bounce.
