  1. QUOTE(scenario @ Mar 1, 2008 -> 06:47 PM) The Arizona radio announcers made very positive comments about his pitches - location, movement, etc. He only walked one guy in three innings. And he wasn't falling behind batters. So, not too bad. Not well enough to get people over being nervous about him, but that will take a stellar year to overcome. I was impressed at how he got out of 2 on (BB, HBP) - no out jam in the second without damage. That was the type of situation where he would go belly up last year. Spring games tend to be like AAA games though. A lot of at bats by guys who won't be on the 25 man til August or Sept.
  2. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Mar 1, 2008 -> 06:19 PM) 3) Walls around the playing field prevent the balls for being soveigners for children "Ew dad, this ball smells like sweat and butt."
  3. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Mar 1, 2008 -> 06:15 PM) Speaking of Gaylord, maybe he could help us break quota rules and teach some of our junk pitchers to rub junk on the ball. Ew. You want them to rub their junk on the ball?
  4. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Mar 1, 2008 -> 06:11 PM) What next, a pitcher with no arms? Yep. "Lucky" McGee He throws a mean noseball.
  5. QUOTE(Pants Rowland @ Mar 1, 2008 -> 05:58 PM) Beat me to it. Well... it was pretty obvious to both of us.

    Films Thread

    QUOTE(The Critic @ Mar 1, 2008 -> 05:41 PM) I loved No Country until the ending. Until the end I thought "I gotta buy the DVD". After the most unsatisfying ending I can remember, I thought "Maybe I'll rent the DVD if they have any alternate endings". IIRC, that's the book's ending.
  8. QUOTE(zenryan @ Mar 1, 2008 -> 05:37 PM) and Minnesota finishes in 4th. and KC is fifth.

    I don't like to buy combined products. One part of the unit usually dies before the other does.

    Diablo Cody

    QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Feb 29, 2008 -> 01:06 PM) What the heck is a "Diablo Cody"???
  13. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 29, 2008 -> 12:25 PM) Dude, 3 yards a carry isn't exactly good. And that's what Benson was averaging. 3.4 yards a carry for both of them over the season. I never said that Peterson was the answer, but he got those 3 yd/carry games and 100 yard game when the O-Line was at its worst. Benson had less than 3 yards a carry in 5 of his 11 games, getting 100 yards once. And, for the most part, those games were with a healthy O-Line.
  14. N.D. just cannot win on the road against a good team to save their life. Harangody goes 40 and 11 and they still can't catch up to Louisville. The guards seem to constantly fold and turn the ball over whenever they are pressured.
  15. Also, you can't tell me with today's technology and advanced fuel injection systems that almost every vehicle on the road could be 50 or 60 mpg if car companies wanted to make cars like that.
  16. QUOTE(NUKE @ Feb 29, 2008 -> 12:27 AM) No. Ethanol is a really bad idea. It takes more energy to produce it than we get for burning it and it is driving the price of food through the roof across the board. About the only people making out on this are the big farmers who have tons of it planted. http://www.accidentalhedonist.com/index.ph..._literal_cost_o Sugar tariffs could be removed, allowing sugar to be used for ethanol and for sweeteners instead of high fructose corn syrup. They more than double the retail price of sugar. And that's not cane sugar as much as it is sugar beet sugar here in the US. Only 12% of all corn produced in the US is being used for ethanol and hfcs. But actually, more than half of the remaining 88% is only used for animal feed because it is cheaper than hay or any other grain.
  17. QUOTE(greg775 @ Feb 29, 2008 -> 02:37 AM) I didn't know a lot of Sox fans took the El to the games. I thought most people drove. My bad. You should try it. Stay in the city and take the train out to the park. You'll be up to your ears in Sox fan humanity.
  18. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Feb 29, 2008 -> 12:01 AM) They would still be taking the train from the northside. Yep, blue line to Jackson or Washington then onto the red line.
  19. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 28, 2008 -> 09:53 PM) I refuse to grade guys like Benson or Wolfe last year based on their performance because the O-Line was simply so bad. If Benson fails behind an upgraded O-Line, then a RB replacement makes sense in the 09 draft once the cap hit from Benson has passed. Adrian Peterson seemed okay with that O-Line. Four out of his last 5 games with significant touches, he got 3 yards a carry. /yes the O-Line was bad but you're giving Benson a free pass IMO.
  20. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Feb 28, 2008 -> 09:46 PM) I'm not sure that team is a playoff team for next season. They weren't a playoff team last year with them.
