Taking a guy with 1 pitch and a mediocre strikeout rate in college over Porcello is inexcuseable. I am not nearly informed enough to speak of our other picks, but to take Andy Sisco clone over Porcello isn't working at all.
first - Andy Sisco? We're calling him Andy now?
second - The analysts at the draft specifically mentioned poreda saying that he could be as good as any of the pitchers at the top of the draft.

Or they keep score differently.
Obviously they see some major potential in this guy, because his stats are not very sexy. The other possibility is that he is related to somebody in the organization.
that kinda thing is hopefully only reserved for mike piazza picks

Yeah, more pitchers. Glad we don't have a hole at the middle-infield positions.
duh, you dont draft to fill needs. god. cant believe you didnt know that. i mean. thats what the analysts have been telling me.

I read he takes academics seriously, so there may be signability concerns.
academics vs. major league baseball...
duh.

Middlebrooks was taken 33rd overall in Sickels' mock draft and is rated in his top 12 OVERALL hitters. I'm stunned that he hasn't gone yet, but would be elated if the Sox grabbed him this round. I'd be absolutely thrilled.
i'm not expecting us to but i'm hoping against hope for him
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 07:30 PM)
Anybody got a scouting report on Middlebrooks? Why is he slipping so far?
no idea...

FYI, im throwing my hat in the ring as decently impressed with out picks. I actually like Poreda after watching alot of video.
although one thing i notice is that he works reeeeally slowly. not that that really means much but jeez

thus far i like our later picks - and i'm not as against the Poreda thing as a lot of people. Love the griffith pick though.

Wow, Hell of a play by Fields.

If they were going to pick another pitcher I would have gone with the lefty from Kaneland HS in Maple Park. There was a special on CSN about him. He throws 94-97 with the fastball.
is that casey crosby?
