9/26/12 GT Indians @ Sox 7:10pm WCIU

QUOTE (Baron @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 09:01 PM) Trust me I am not the poster child for patience. If this team went through a full rebuild I wouldnt be nearly as active as I am now. I do not like losing and I do not like waiting for them to get better. I want results now. But I can see the issues right now with this team. I think maybe with Kenny getting some more money this team can really take ahold of this division. Im not impressed with the Tigers. People dont realize that Robin may have saved the White Sox from a serious multi-year rebuild. They just want to b**** about his failure. -

QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 08:55 PM) Every corporation has long term goals when it enters a year. However, if you think that expectations don't change as the industry landscape changes, you're insane. It's pathetic how people like you are trotting out the "Well, we were supposed to suck!" excuse with eight f***ing games left in the season in a pennant race. Unbelievable. lol The "industry landscape" changed? The Sox were dramatically better this year with relatively the same team. The only "landscape change" was the hiring of Robin, and you are blaming him. You are literally the guy who wants to fire Steve Jobs because his newest gadget is "failing" because it "only" sold 2mil in the fourth quarter after selling 10mil first quarter, even though the original projection was only 5mil units sold. CUT MY NOSE TO SPITE MY FACE! CUT MY NOSE TO SPITE MY FACE! Literally laughing here. I can remember what the fans were saying opening day this year. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 08:46 PM) You're right, everyone thought the move to go with Omogrosso against Kipnis was a great decision and the Sox just got unlucky. Where did I argue that it was the right call? You cant even address the argument. The Sox were picked to be under 500. Robin has them competing for the playoffs. You want to fire a guy over a month of bad decisions in his first pennant race. That to me is a foolish knee jerk decision. Its like giving a lawyer fresh out of law school a million dollar case and then firing him because he made mistakes. No s*** he makes mistakes, its his first time ever coaching at any level, let alone it being a pennant race. Complain about the Sox hiring him if you want, but they thought that this team wasnt going to compete. Remember "Respect the game" was the tagline because they thought this team was going to be brutal. -

QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 08:41 PM) Sorry, expectations are fluid. Robin has been below average to abysmal for weeks now. They are fluid for arm chair Quarterbacks. I would hope they are not for million dollar corporations who had very low expectations this year and Robin has exceeded them all. He took a team that most were predicting to be terrible and they were contenders. With a year under his belt and some fine tuning, there is no reason to believe he cant improve. But I do enjoy all the laughs people are providing. -

Its his first year managing, there are going to be growing pains. How many of you thought the Sox would be contending this year? People need perspective. -

I have this odd feeling that the team who is on top after tonight is the team that goes to the playoffs. (Unless its still a tie, but I dont think thats how this night is going.) -
QUOTE (mr_genius @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 06:51 PM) http://taxfoundation.org/article/federal-t...state-1981-2005 if 2012 is anything like 2005 in federal tax, the government owes me some money. 75%? that's one of the worst rates of return! then look at the Mississippi hillbillies getting 200% return. Yep, donor states is the dirty secret that Republicans and Democrats dont want anyone to know about. Democrats dont want their constituents to know that they are subsidizing the people who always complain about govt spending. Republicans dont want their constituents to know that they are the ones who are getting the hand outs they constantly complain about.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 05:50 PM) For once, Google plays Apple's anti-competitive game. Where were you when Apple decided to cripple third party browsers of core iOS features on purpose so that Safari would have superior performance? You sure didn't tell Apple to go f*** themselves. Just wait, Samsung and Google are meeting this week. And they are supposedly going to meet with major carriers next week. Sounds like battle lines are being drawn.

QUOTE (mr_genius @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 05:34 PM) i doubt it. if California was a swing state Obama probably would. everything is about politics to this regime. if Obama did bail out California other states would be pissed and that could cost the Democrat party in the next election cycle. That doesnt make sense. California is a donor state (they pay more federal taxes than they receive), if anything the first step would be to have the non-donor states pick up the slack.

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 05:29 PM) In EQ at least the community was polite enough items would be rolled on with the random 1 100. Or in most cases it went to the person whose class the item was for assuming it was an upgrade, this game seems like everyone for themselves and greedy as sin. Im not sure /roll was originally in the game, its been over 10 years so I cant remember if that was a patch update or not. The game was way different to start, kill stealing, ninja looting, exploiting trade bugs, all were fair game. The best policy still was always to loot first and ask questions later, unless it was no drop and then you were just a dick.
-
Wow so literally back to Everquest I days. Free for all was fun, but so many complaints.
-
The game doesnt list what other people in your party loot? I assume the loot is restricted to the party that kills the mob. At least this is pretty standard practice in MMORPG.

The whole post is a fallacy as the Big 10 isnt going to a 9 game schedule (I pointed this out 2 weeks ago). ND needed to make room on their schedule for teams like Wake Forest and Syracuse now that they are in the ACC. -
HIMYM isnt as funny as it used to be, but I still like it. Also found out where Kid Cudi gets his sample for "The Prayer". Still burns that I didnt go to the concert that he played.

Chicago White Sox vs. Cleveland Indians

WI Senator tweeted a bunch of Goodell's contact information. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/rosen...0,5014063.story ha ha

I keep thinking of Goodell as Officer Barbrady: Nothing to see here, the correct call was made.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 25, 2012 -> 11:40 AM) There was another White Sox announcer who may have been even more of a homer -- Harry Caray. WSJ should go back and listen to some of his games for the Sox or, you know, that other team he went to after Reinsdorf fired him. Yet Harry is a beloved figure in sports, and not just in Chicago. Never heard anyone complain when he cried out, Let's get some runs! Personally, I think Hawk is more of a throwback and once he's gone we'll all miss him terribly...and sports writers will be inclined to write flowery, nostalgic articles suggesting how great he was and how it's a shame there aren't more guys like Hawk around any more. By their standard his infamous "just a bit outside" would not be a "homer" because it is a neutral statement. That is also the problem with this, I could be the biggest homer in the world, just use proper phrasing and it wont count in their study. "They really look good in those uniforms" is okay. "We really look good in those uniforms" is being a homer. Seeing as they are the White Sox broadcasting team, it does make sense for them to refer to themselves as "we".

QUOTE (daa84 @ Sep 24, 2012 -> 11:43 PM) There's an enormous amount of observational bias in this as well. We know the refs are replacements, thus missed calls seem that much more obvious. What is most likely true is that we fail to realize how many calls the normal refs miss, and also tend to overreact/over estimate the number that the replacements are making That said, there is still an obvious difference Completely agree. Its also confidence. These refs dont have it, so everything is more questioned. Real refs just make the call and stick with it, even when they are wrong.

Okay so this is getting really odd: http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/c...0,7992995.story Lawyers posting facebook attacks amongst co-counsel? If Peterson is really that clever, could this be all to set up the ineffective counsel argument against Brodsky and hope that is grounds for a re-trial? Just strange.

Im note sure I see the humor in that comment. These guys are doing the best that they can, its not their fault. This is squarely on the NFL.
