Kap, Your line of argument is so hilarious, I just want to confirm the nonsense. So you are saying that we should be outraged because Obama is going to try and legalize gay marriage, but is doing it for the wrong reasons? So instead of supporting Obama, we should support someone else who doesnt want gay marriage, but actually believes that, so its better? AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Thats like saying Lincoln didnt really care about abolishing slavery (arguably true if you look at his position in the Lincoln/Douglass debate), so when he actually went and did it, the US should have stood against him, because he wasnt freeing the slaves for the right reason. HAHAHAHAHAHAA Thats a joke right? I mean seriously, we now are going to worry about whether or not politicians are standing up for something for the "right" reasons? Wow, Im in complete shock. I guess when you are supporting the absolutely wrong position when it comes to freedom (denying rights to humans due to sexuality, race, religion, etc) you just gotta make s*** up, because I assume you cant look yourself in the mirror knowing that you are on the same side as the people in NC. Just so we are clear, I dont care what reason someone does something, as long as what they are doing is right.

Well how long until people start accusing Shep Smith of being gay? http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/cutline/obama-...-203159510.html

Balta, I dont have any belief system regarding it, I dont know what happened. What I do wonder about is how something can be created from nothing. In my opinion there are 2 answers, 1) some outside force created something from nothing or 2) we are not advanced enough to understand the question and therefore while there is an answer, it escapes us at this point. Either way, someone who says "I think a god like being created the universe" is a lot different than Christianity, which specifically believes that a god existed on Earth.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 9, 2012 -> 03:01 PM) Yet. We do have ideas. We just don't have the technology for how to test them all yet. However, M theory provides some tantalizing hints that something resembling the big bang could be caused by the collision of 2 separate but distinct membranes in 12 dimensional space. Still the problem of, what created those 2 distinct membranes.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 9, 2012 -> 02:54 PM) Well i'm sorry, you have no facts, so creationism and evolutionary thought are apparently on equal footing. No facts = no belief. Right Soxbadger? When it comes to the creation of the universe, science and faith are on equal footing as no one can explain scientifically how something is created from nothing. Y2hh and I discussed this a little bit about how the creation of the Universe by a "god" etc is different than the actual belief that there is a god intervening in our daily affairs. It is well within reason that there was some force that created the universe and if you want to call that force "God", that would be fine by me. But that is different from the omniscient and omnipotent god found in Jewish based religions.

Jenks, Exactly, if it cant be proven, dont use it as a fact. That is the exact problem I have. If people want to believe in some non-provable thing, go for it, just let me live my life in peace with things that can be proven. I fully understand that one day I may have to answer to St. Peter for my beliefs, but that is after Im dead.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 9, 2012 -> 02:17 PM) Boy that Mitt Romney, changing positions again... Yeah, damn United States always changing positions. This was a country created on slavery and Ill be damned to support anyone who flips on our founding fathers... WHOS COMING WITH ME!?

Greg, Haha dont worry, I get called out for not quoting people and using contractions without apostrophes. We all have our own writing style, as long as people can understand you, it doesnt matter how you express yourself.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 9, 2012 -> 02:04 PM) I just don't get why people who are not religious have to be so vehement about it, to the point of almost being angry. If someone wants to believe, let them believe. It's like you think that if anyone is talking to you about their beliefs they're preaching to you and you have to be all strong and defiant about not believing it, otherwise you'll be viewed as weak-minded. Historically speaking, religion has accounted for millions of innocent deaths. The problem (imo) in dealing with religious people is that they tend to rely on "faith" as opposed to "facts", so when trying to discuss a solution and their response is "faith" based, there is just no way to rationally go about it besides for attacking the foundation, which is the religion. For example, Many people believe that women are subservient to men due to religion. If you are going to try and argue for a woman's equality, you cant just pull out a chapter from the New Testament to support you. Thus if they keep relying on it, you just have to attack the New Testament. I dont care one way or another, people can believe whatever they want, just dont use "beliefs" as any sort of rational for why a law should be something or why a certain group should be denied benefits etc. If you think people are going to heaven and hell, whatever, great, well see what happens after we die. But until that day, Id prefer we run our lives based on facts, not on faith.

Greg, 1) You dont need a god to not cheat on your wife, and in fact many godly people do far more than cheat on their wife (Id say a priest cheating on god with a little boy fits that bill), cheating on your wife, or your girlfriend, is a personal choice and it depends on what type of person you are. Why not go nuts here? Because I would have to live with the consequences of my actions. If I spend foolishly or do something to cripple myself financially, I would have ruined my life. I cant go to bed at night clinging to the idea that "Its easier for a camel to fit through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to get into heaven", I cant somehow rationalize my failure as "Gods will" or not to worry because "its part of Gods plan." If I fail, if I do something stupid, I have to batten down the hatches and fix it, because there isnt some unwordly power that will intervene on my behalf. 2) For many years people believed that Aristotle was right, just because people believe it doesnt mean its true. In fact religion is based on "belief" and not "fact", the entire idea is that there is actually no evidence and therefore to be a true believer you must have "faith" in something that cant be proven. Its great circular logic. 3) You still havent answered any questions about beliefs that the church holds to this day which are outdated and completely unfounded. 4) Why would it be wasted? Loving my family, children, pets has nothing to do with God or heaven, it has to do with our relationship in this world, no matter what I may think about the next, it doesnt change here and now.

Depends on what media you listen/watch. Some media blames Obama for everything, other media doesnt. And there are opponents who could beat Obama, they just likely would never get out of the primary.

The sanctity of marriage will be ruined if we let 2 people of the same gender marry! Oh for the good old days when the sanctity of marriage was being ruined by letting 2 people of different races marry.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 9, 2012 -> 11:09 AM) Easily trapped and doesnt ball handle well. I actually thought at one point it made more sense to put in Rip and have him and Deng both bring the ball up in a press break scenario. James wouldnt be a bad play since he's a bit bigger. I fully support Badge's Taylor idea in theory, but I also dont want to waste a pick if they are dead set on keeping CJ on board. I like Taylor as a scorer in that backup PG position. I actually was wondering if the Bulls would just try and play without a PG. Rip is fine at the top of 3 point arc with the ball, he usually makes good decisions. As for Taylor/CJ, yeah ideally you would want one of them to be a larger combo guard who could play the 1 and 2, which would give the Bulls more flexibility.
-
I want the Bulls to draft Jordan Taylor in the 2nd next year as another back up PG. He wont do anything flashy in the pros, but he has a great assist/turnover ratio and he should be better than John Lucas.
-
Well neither of them play the trap very well, which is why I would have liked to see Thibs try Mike James (bigger guard) and just try and use more of a swing type offense to try and take advantage of Philly's aggressiveness on the ball. The Bulls seem to get into offensive trouble when their PG just stands at the top and pounds the ball dribbling.

Jenks, Come on now, you know the White House cant let anyone in without being cleared, even if they are a baby. What would stop a terrorist from inserting a bomb into a kid and using it as a weapon. Terrorists are willing to do anything, so I would think most people would want all safety measures taken when it comes to letting people into the White House, whether they are 1 minute old or 100 years old.
-
If he is hurt so bad play a different player. Yeah it sucks to have to go that deep in your bench, but Watson just seemingly is not there. He is missing free throws, missing shots and just playing really weak on the ball. j4l, The Bulls won, I dont complain about refs just to complain about refs. Last night they werent great, they made some mistakes, but at the end of the game it didnt matter (Im sure 76er fans would disagree and say that the refs swallowed the whistle.) I thought games 3 and especially game 4 were poorly reffed and the 76ers got the majority of the 50/50 calls. If you disagree that is one thing, but if you agree that it wasnt poorly reffed, then what point are you making? I only comment on refs it is so terrible it cant go unnoticed.

If Taj plays the Bulls can win. If Taj is out, Noah is out, it just would be a huge challenge.
-
There really is no reason to take it to the extreme. Some religions dont believe a woman can be a priest or rabbi.
-
DID THEY SAY IT WAS OVER WHEN THE GERMANS BOMBED PEARL HARBOR?!?!?! And the Bulls have an okay chance, they are the 1 seed so if they can just blitz the 76ers on Thursday and just win that game, anything can happen in a home elimination game 7.
-
Is there any other way to describe Watson this series other than an abject failure? I mean this is just ridiculous.
-
Rip wants to defend, he just cant anymore. He isnt even really that quick, there is a reason why hes not getting free off of these staggered screens and only part of it is 76ers overplaying him. Brewer has ridiculously long arms that give bigger guards/small forwards problems.
-
Such a terrible mental mistake by Taj there, you cant foul 3 point shooters, its just horrific.
-
Huge steal by Brewer.
