  1. At least he didn't call for a press conference like Piazza did when that NY sportswriter speculated that he was a homosexual.
  2. But it's like this. When you eat cake, it doesn't go straight to your ass and thighs. It spreads out over your entire body. How are steroids any different? Jack's an idiot.
  3. That's basically what I'm trying to say here as well. He's calling him an idiot, in so many words. I don't see how anyone couldn't.
  4. I have this one framed.
  5. No, he's an idiot. Prior has huge calves. Big deal. I'll always admire Jack for how he performed when he was on the Sox, and I know that he went to Stanford, but he's clearly lacking in the field of common sense.
  6. So, you fell for it, or otherwise, you wouldn't have switched over to ESPN 1000. Do you qualify as a Cubs fan now?
  7. There are other guys who are past their prime, but they're still all star caliber. Guys like Schilling, Johnson, Brown, and Mussina come to mind. All 4 of these guys have hall of fame type pitching capabilities, though. Brown will never make it to the hall, although he could have under different circumstances. Pettite's not quite there.
  8. No. Oswalt is one of the most gifted young starters in the game, up there with guys like Prior, Beckett, Webb, Oakland's big three, etc. Anybody who knows their pitching will tell you that he's clearly the ace of this staff. Pettite is past his prime. Clemens is way, way past his prime, although as the Cheat pointed out, he did well on the road last year. But then again, there are plenty of intelligent baseball people out there who would go with Pettite as the ace. To me that's just dead wrong. But with enough run support, he could still win 20. Oswalt, however, doesn't need run support to win 20. That's the difference.
  9. Clemens sucks, I think. Pettite is still very good, but nowhere near what he once was. Oswalt is the only all star caliber pitcher of the bunch in 2004. The guy who said that Wade Miller is better than Clemens was right on the money. Miller struggled somewhat last year, as he had some nagging injuries, but remember that he went 16-3 in 2002. TOP 5 TRIOS: 1. Oakland 2. Chicago Cubs 3. NY Yankees 4. Boston 5. Houston Seattle and Florida are on the verge.
  10. Griffey for Konerko and Cotts. Hawk has been going on for about 10 minutes now, but I know that him and Mike North are good friends, so maybe it's a set up. But Hawk was mighty pissed at first. It didn't sound like an act.
  11. Hawk is pissed.
  12. They have Hawk Harrelson on right now. This is unbelievable.
  13. 7 consecutive scoreless innings? Impressive.
  14. Ozzie is at it again. link
  15. I'd have to say the Los Angeles Dodgers, as I'm a huge Sandy Koufax fan.
  16. Yeah, that is ugly. But I'd imagine that he could get that OBP up to around .310 if he was on the Sox. LA is the most pitcher-friendly park in the majors.
  17. It's cool. I read all three articles on Prior. I've been a Sox fan all my life, but I have no problem with the media coverage that the Cubs get in this city. It makes sense.
  18. According to Paul White, the Sox are the 9th best team in the AL. I could actually live with this assessment, but I seriously can't believe what he said in his description of the Sox. I guess that it helps to actually watch the games, yeah? Frank Thomas and Carlos Lee are clearly up there with the elite boppers in the game. Hell, I'd rank Paulie ahead of Jose in terms of overall bopping impact. What a silly b**** this guy is, eh? pwhite@usatoday.com
