I didnt say you were an asshole.

*post I don't appreciate meaningless snide remarks meant solely to be an asshole to me. I think thats fair.

To each his own.

Whatever floats your boat although I'll make sure to read your posts when I need a laugh. EDIT: By the way, go the f*** back to White Sox Interactive.

Soxtalks own... I sure hope so..

I have actually grown quite a bit of respect for you the last couple weeks.. until this thread. By saying David Ortiz could have signed with the White Sox, im not trying to get people going or what not. Its a fact. Any team could have signed him if they could have found a place for him to play. It's not like your wish can't come true. If the Cell was filled every night like Fenway is, then I am sure the White Sox would be close to that 100 million dollar range.

What camaraderie is there between Schilling and Johnson. They hate eachother. Anytime my team is able to pick up an ace, I'd be excited. That is if it doesn't dismantle the team and make the team worse which in my opinion it does. No weak division bulls*** that comes out of dorfs mouth is going to change my mind. Like I said, I think the deal sucks because of the financial position it puts the White Sox in and the fact that nothing is ultimately fixed from this deal and i'll take that to my grave.

So because the bullpen had few relievers picked up off of the free agent market the 2000 bullpen is comparable to the bullpen the White Sox will field next season?
-
Don't even begin. - Orlando Cabrera is a much better defensive player than Jose Valentin. - The White Sox have the money to trade for the most expensive pitcher in the league, yet can't afford to make a couple signings for less money? What are you soft? - KW could have sat down with Schilling at his home last winter and tried to recruit him to the Southside. KW could have signed David Ortiz. Your jealousy and outright ignorance is so pathetic, its almost unbearable. The only player the Red Sox have just bought is Manny Ramirez. Keith Foulke wanted to play in front of packed house in an awesome city, Curt Schilling the same. When will you realize that a baseball team is a baseball team barring the Yankees, and each team has limited funds whether it be the Red Sox or the White Sox.

Trading for Randy Johnson in my opinion sucks, and I will take that to my grave. With that being said there are plenty of solid options available both on the trade market or the free agent market that I think would look good with the White Sox. Some names.. Percival, Urbina, Guardado, Williamson, Hasegawa. Even just some proven journey men would be fine with me.

If I remember correctly the bullpen consisted of Bobby Howry, Kelly Wunsch, Bill Simas, Matt Ginter, Sean Lowe and anchored by the almighty Keith Foulke. Biddle, Eyre, Barcelo, Sturtze and even the good ole Ken Hill can be added to that list. Whats your point? Don't tell me this past years bullpen was better.

You know, you make me laugh. Everything has to become personal with you and besides that, one game against the Twins really shows his domination of the AL Central in the past year or two. :rolly
-
and what happens the other 3 days? Your going to be relying on Neal Cotts, Jon Adkins and Cliff Politte to get the job done? :rolly
-
Shingo could very well be quote on quote, figured out, this upcoming season. He will still be a very effective reliever, but if your relying on him to be like a Kazuhiro Sasaki, your dreaming. Marte, I love. He's everything you want in a southpaw reliever. Politte... I liked the pick-up last offseason, but if your going to base your stats solely on last season you could look at his 1.44 WHIP and 4.38 ERA to show just how ineffective he was at times. He's as inconsistent as a reliever will get, not exactly someone I'd rely on in the 8th inning. Cotts... eh.. He could improve, but from what I saw this season he's nothing but an average ballplayer. The bullpen might not be one of the worst in the league, but with the one currently laid out if an RJ deal is made, its one of the worst.
-
Also. Enough with this dominating the AL Central dog s***. Who cares what he did against the 1998 Kansas City Royals.
-
Those kids in Detroit will love teeing off on Grilli just as much as they get shutdown by Johnson, and they'll also love playing a depleted offense with no depth, and a bullpen which is one of the worst in the league.
-
This is America, your entitled to your opinion and your entitled to not be bashed for it. I disagree, thats all.
-
Adding Randy Johnson and either Diaz or Grilli while subtracting Garland and a free agent will equal out to 20 more wins? Not a chance. Forget the weak division, the Tigers will be hard after some players, the Indians will be right in the thick of things and the Twins are the Twins. Using the weak division as an excuse no longer applies. You subtract the two most productive players on the team in Konerko and Ordonez and the White Sox are in the same boat as they were in last year after Thomas and Ordonez went down, which is a mediocre offensively. A mediocre offense, a bad bench, a pretty good rotation and a bad bullpen makes this team a World Series contender? I think not.

Having five good starters will have more quality starts compared to having three good starters, one excellent starter, and one terrible starter. ..and I thought some others on this board were the ones born with too many chromosomes.
-
No ifs, ands, or buts about it. Option B will/would put up more quality starts.
-
Pardon me while I throw up.
-
I immediately threw out trying to sign Jermaine Dye, but if the money's right, I want him.
-
A guy like Theo Epstein who goes out and trades a superstar and Boston hero in Orlando Cabrera solely for defensive purposes will not sign Jose Valentin. Take that crap with a grain of salt.
-
To answer your question, I've been following the White Sox for the past 5 years and intensely for the last 3. I know the trends that JR seems to have, and I know that the White Sox can't just go out and sign guys like a defending World Champion in a city like Boston. I know that, I know that, I know that. The fact of the matter is that the White Sox shouldn't make a trade for Randy Johnson for the sake of getting the name and in a sense gaining the edge over the Cubs. I would rather do that by winning baseball games, which is obtainable by making financially smart signings and trades. I just want to note that I am all for trading Paul Konerko solely based on the fact that he has maxed out his potential, it is Jon Garland who I do not want to trade. Acquiring Johnson and giving up Garland or not fixing that fifth starter problem is exactly what each and everyone of you were throwing up about just a few weeks ago. My final point is, you don't have a player making a fourth of your payroll, A. And B. Garcia, Buehrle, Contreras, Garland/FA is a very capable playoff rotation and a much better regular season rotation.
-
The best idea I've heard thus far is not making any Johnson trade at all. You can't change the whole make up of your ballclub and expect to win a World Series. Keep Lee, keep Koneko. Make a couple signings and add to what we already have.
