  1. Considering PK's worth, the White Sox give far too much in this proposal although I'd love to have Castillo at the top of the order.
  2. The batting stats are only placed in there to show how much of a liability Jose has been throughout his career, and how the Brewers and the White Sox tried to find a position that he would see less action so that he could hit. Now that hes hitting in the low .200's and striking out at will, the defense has been overlooked. Agree to disagree? most likely, but don't give me this range factor bs or how many errors and stuff. Defense is measured purely on watching the player play in my opinion. Telling me Jose's range factor is the best in the league is the most deceiving thing I have heard in my life. I base my decisions defensively on how the player performs in the field through a long period of time, and with Jose it isn't exactly a small sample size, and with that being said, he's been a liabilty in my eyes.
  3. There's really no question about it. There's a reason why Jose Valentin was tried out at third and center a few years back, and its because the guy is a liability defensively. He loses games with his glove. No stat is going to tell me otherwise.
  4. Zito will be the easiest to get, thats for sure.
  5. defensive numbers mean about as much to me as that duece i just dropped in the toilet, so I'd just like to show you what a buddy had to say.
  6. I'll agree with that, thats fair.
  7. It doesn't matter how badly I make his year out to be. The fact is he didnt turn heads this season like he did in other seasons, and the injuries don't help where as Konerko had the best year of his career. If Billy Beane was this master of buying low and selling high as he has done so well acquiring some of his players, then he wouldn't make this deal by any means.
  8. Oh come on, you of all people thinking that? Abe Alvarez, Jon Papelbon, Jon Lester, Manny Delcarmen, Hanley Ramirez, Brandon Moss, Dustin Pedroia, Kelly Shoppach, Chad Spann, David Murphy, Jeremy West or even the Michael Rozier kid. There might not be an overflow of Reeds, Andersons, and Sweeney's but theres definitly some future major leaguers in this farm system. palehosefan will tell you. ;o
  9. People trying to call me out for anything and everything definitly gets annoying, but I said Youkilis and more for Hudson and don't tell me the Red Sox dont have some hot commodities in the minor leagues because I along with Billy Beane think otherwise. Also, I don't see your point with the buy low/sell high philosophy that Billy Beane has. He trades Hudson who had the worst year hes had in his career on top of being often injured for Paul Konerko who had the best year hes had in his career. Am I missing the point? I don't see how taking Konerko for Hudson fits that buy low/sell high mold that Billy Beane is known for doing.
  10. Hudson is a leader, a horse, a guy that is coveted by each and every gm out there. It won't be that easy.
  11. If Nomar signs with the Yankees to play second, I will lose almost all respect I had for a guy who was once my hero in a sense. If Nomar wants to stick it to the Red Sox ownership for offering him 15 million dollars over four years and declining, then so be it, but theres a line that is drawn and if he goes to the Yankees, he has crossed it.
  12. Why on earth would Billy Beane trade Tim Hudson for Paul Konerko? It makes zero sense especially considering he could go out and get his god, Kevin Youkilis, and more from the Red Sox or a payed for Posada and Vasquez from the Yankees. No as in.. It. Will. Never. Happen.
  13. Konerko straight up for Hudson?! nope.
  14. All reports indicate Kevin Millar "stretched the truth."
  15. The option was for no more than five million, which shows how messed up his arm truly is. Some team will take a chance on him, I wouldn't mind being that team, but even the four million he was guaranteed last year puts this White Sox team in a bind if he can't pitch.
  16. I take back what I said. The Bears are the second worst team in football behind the Dolphins. This is not a professional football team, I wouldn't be surprised if the USC's and Oklahoma's of college couldnt beat this team. It truly is pathetic.
  17. I am sure Gabe Kapler takes full advantage of the creatines, proteins, bcaas, efas, etc. but don't think he takes steroids by any means. He is a bodybuilder, having a body like that is capable with hard work and dedication. Steroids are not necessary.
  18. This team is not a Randy Johnson away from being ta World Series caliber ballclub. One year of Randy Johnson for Lee and Garland is ridiculous.
  19. This thread has nothing to do with the Red Sox. Not one single f***ing thing. Not one. Replying to rip on me solely for being a Red Sox fan is asinine. Is it really necessary for every thing I post to revert back to the Red Sox? Grow up, move on, get a life. Orlando Cabrera as an Expo, or as a Red Sox in everyone whos anyones opinion is double the defensive player that Jose Valentin is. Him being on the Red Sox has nothing to do with this argument. He's an exceptional defensive player, thats all, and until you take off your "tough guy" glasses, your going to continue to be the selfish, no-good, jerk whose opinion counts for nothing.
  20. It's pretty amazing how you offer nothing to each and every post you reply in. Do you have a brain? Jose Valentin defensively, a better short stop than Orlando Cabrera? Get a clue.
  21. Manny laughs at this ridiculous rumor: I love the Millar quote.
  22. Very true, especially considering they have Gross and Rios who I think are excellent young players. Wishful thinking, but let it be known, I love Ted Lilly.
