  1. QUOTE(quickman @ May 6, 2005 -> 09:00 PM) this goes back to what i was saying about Ozzie. he defies all logic. yet he wins, he drives me nuts, and I will be dead by years end. Ozzie = the new Tony Pena. Lots of mojo, no game managing skills whatsoever.
  2. How about we keep the line moving Joe? Another run would go a long way in finishing this game off...
  3. HUGE hit on an 0-2 Count! Gotta love AJ!
  4. Run-saving play by Zaun. He's been phenomenal tonight.
  5. Well I guess I'm not crazy, but I did a good job jinxing him. Pick 'em up Dye.
  6. Anyone think I'm crazy to have Timo squeeze here? He has proved he's pretty good at buntig down the first base line. And I'm not talking suicide squeeze....
  7. Nice to see PK go opposite field there. Let's get Carl in Timo....1st and 3rd 1 out. Maybe PR for Konerko?
  8. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 6, 2005 -> 08:44 PM) He might not be losing it, but you are dealing with a 40 something pitcher who had to miss his last few starts last season with a "tired" shoulder, and a guy who hasn't made a heck of a lot of starts the past 5 or 6 seasons. You also have a bullpen that probably needs some work right now. Ozzie is going to need El Duque in August and September. It makes no sense burning him out now. Just to set the record straight, Duque is 39. It was documented in a book about his defection as well as others. The story is they all burned their birth certificates in celebration when they reached america. But 39 is damn close to 40, so I guess it doesn't make that much of a difference.
  9. Did I say I hate Koskie? Because I meant it.
  10. Just walk him Duque so we can get you out of there...
  11. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 6, 2005 -> 08:27 PM) If Kenny acquired Huff, it would just about compensate for my sadness of losing Carlos Lee. Seriously, I know that this organization likes Brian Anderson, but I'd bet that he's the number one trading chip in a blockbuster deal. They aren't going to trade McCarthy, and same with Sweeney. Personally, I wouldn't mind trading Sweeney over Anderson though. Granted, sweeney has a good amount of potential, but Anderson is nearly ML-Ready. Plus, if you get the right GM (coughBowdencough) Sweeney could have rather high value. Either way, if we're going to bring in someone big some of our pet prospects will defintely be shipped out.
  12. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 6, 2005 -> 08:23 PM) I wouldn't give up a ransom for an unproven minor leaguer...case closed. If your going to give up a ransom of prospects or anything else, you better darn well get a damn good player. For example...I rate a ton of the Sox prospetcs over Howard. Homers are great and all but he still k's too much (although he's improved on things) and minor league numbers doesn't mean major league success. Philly can have him. I'd love him in the Sox org, but I'm not about to give up the farm for a farm player. I'd rather give a kings ransom for Aubrey Huff. I didn't say we should give up a king's ransom...all I was saying is that's his asking price these days. I defintely agree with you, and that's why I feel Gonzalez would be a great fit. Huff would too of course, but Huff would cost a lot more than Gonzalez, and gets paid a good amount more too.
  13. ...and Nuke and Jason crawl out of their various holes....
  14. QUOTE(daa84 @ May 6, 2005 -> 08:16 PM) philly will want a ton, but why not ryan howard I like Howard a lot, but I think they want a king's ransom for him. Plus, Thome is hurt so Howard is providing good insurance. Maybe if Howard bombs in his limited time, his trade value will go down. I personally want Adrian Gonzalez from TEX because there's no way breaks that infield anytime soon. Plus, he's left handed, which is always good. I just don't know what we could offer Texas...maybe some pitching prospects not named McCarthy.
  15. But 1st base is a real concern for the long-term success of this club. I agree, let's go all-out and try to win this year...but really what will harris bring you in terms of impact for this year? I don't really know, but I don't think his trade value is all that high. Btw, good inning by Duque. Let's get some runs here.
  16. Harris should been gone soon enough, that's true. But really, if you're dealing Harris you have to think about a future 1st Baseman. Try to grab someone like Stokes from Florida? EDIT: Probably not straight up for willie, but you get my drift.
  17. No way Timo gets ousted. Timo = Ozzie's boy, and we'd have to eat his contract, which we're already doing in ben davis. It's gonna be Gload or Burke, whoever is still left when willie comes back.
  18. QUOTE(fathom @ May 6, 2005 -> 08:07 PM) PK just took a hanging breaking ball right down the middle. We're not capitalizing on the bad pitches today like the Blue Jays have. You can def. tell though that PK is sitting fastball to get out of his slump though. Btw does anyone still hate Koskie even though he doesn't play for the twins? I sure do.
  19. Btw, I think we can all see the book on the Cubans is that they will never throw strikes when they're ahead in the count, and especially when they have two strikes. It seems like guys just sit with the bat on their shoulders when either of the Cubans have 2 strikes on them and wait for the two or three consecutive balls. Maybe try to sneak a fastball/change one of these days? Just a suggestion.
  20. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 6, 2005 -> 07:56 PM) El Duque's five innings of annoying, lots of pitches baseball + his $4 million contract >>>>> any crap we've seen out of the fifth starter's spot the past three seasons. I'm def. not hating on El Duque in anyway...the guy can pitch, no doubt. I'm just trying to show that there are defintely trends in his pitching. Somewhat of a method to his madness.
  21. Hudson = Left handed. Duque pitches around lefties ALOT. I'm defintely finding some truth in what my Yankee friend has told me. EDIT: Btw, watch Koskie walk here...even though I don't think I'd mind.
  22. QUOTE(JimH @ May 6, 2005 -> 07:50 PM) I don't mind sending guys, I do mind Iguchi not having a better at bat there. I have no problem sending guys either, just send ones that know how to steal bases. Meaning, no Uribe. It's that simple.
  23. QUOTE(JimH @ May 6, 2005 -> 07:49 PM) Damn straight. Especially in the first game of a series, after your guys get plunked and another pitch goes over Crede's head. Enough is enough, defend your players. I concur. Garland throwing behind Rondell White was key in my mind. But I bet he did it on his own, which makes me even more proud of Jon this year. Seriously, at least throw the ball high and tight on these guys.
  24. Young pitcher on the mound, giving him free outs is just boosting his confidence. If Uribe doesn't go there and Podsednik walks you've got a kid who's psyche could be busted up real good. Ozzie just makes it too easy for these inexperienced pitchers sometimes, and that's how we make them look like Cy Youngs.
