  1. Yanks take CJ Henry. Wow Hochevar and Hansen still on the board.
  2. Bah, f'n Boras. I would have loved Hansen, but Broadway is quality too.
  3. Although I doubt they draft a Boras guy, Hansen would do wonders for the White Sox. He could even be fast tracked like many of the other college relievers (street, cordero, etc).
  4. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 12:09 PM) Mariners select Jeff Clement, C, USC. Yay! Not goin' to the Sox! Yikes, over Maybin, Zimmerman, and Tulo...dunno about that.
  5. QUOTE(Swivelhips @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 04:27 PM) (Long time reader, fisrt time poster.) That is a complete and utter insult to all of bridgeport We go to games religiously...(heck most of us have season tickets... But anyways, the area around here is booming. So much in fact, that a lot of the locals around here are getting priced out of their own neighborhood.....which I guess has its ups as well as downs; it stinks for me because I cant buy here, but it is a lot safer than it used to be. But to be honest its Bonzeville(on the east side of the express way) thats really changing. Right across the Dan Ryan from the Cell, a whole brand-new townhome/condo complexe is going up. Should be very nice, especially with the police station right there and the projects slowly going down. Viva Farnese! Welcome to Soxtalk!
  6. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 03:44 PM) But it would have caused a cluster-eff on 355 and you bet your arse that all those people trying to get south would have complained to the high heavens about it. Honestly I think it's where it should be. Oh there's no doubt about that, but you can't say that they wouldn't have alleviated those problems by now. If the ballpark were in Addison, I'm sure they would have made the appropriate changes to adjust for the increased traffic. Of course it would have taken a couple of seasons. Addison the way it is now is still a great town and the area around the stadium on the southside is shaping up as well. I think down the road it's going to be win-win, because Addison will be a small community with some great draws (Marcus Theaters, D and B, etc) and the area around The Cell will become more accomodating. For me though, the park would have just been icing on the cake.
  7. *double check the hometown* Yep, I think it's pretty clear where I stand on this one. I would have loved the park about two blocks from my house (it would have basically been in the area next to where the D and B currently is in Addison, across from the Medinah Golf Course). Would have done wonders for our property values, too.
  8. QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 07:44 PM) I didn't post any of the box scores from today but I noticed Gio Gonzales had another great start for Kannapolis in their win - only one hit allowed in 7+ innings and a bunch of K's. Charlotte lost and I believe W-S won. Robert Person was released by Charlotte earlier this week as well. I took a glance at Gio's line as well, very impressive only one hit over seven. Plus 7K's to 2 BB is pretty good as well. Way to go Gio! Methinks a call-up is happening right after the draft...
  9. PK just got ACED. It's all good. Get 'em Carl!
  10. Big f***ING Frank! REFUSE TO LOSE TODAY!
  11. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 05:14 PM) 2 outs. Don't s*** yourself here, Marte... He must have not got your message.
  12. Bleh all this goofing around on the basepaths. Ozzie should just let Iguchi hit up there. Then he won't have to worry about protecting the runner.
  13. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 04:12 PM) Now that is what I am talking about. I love the positive thinking, in the cesspool of negativity All new ballgame. Gooch!
  14. Iguchi will not be the last out of this inning. Book it.
  15. What's with the Uribe unassisted DP these days? Does he not trust Iguchi anymore, since the bobble on Monday?
  16. QUOTE(ChiSoxFan @ Jun 4, 2005 -> 07:58 PM) If there can be a billion "Crede Sucks" threads, I think creating a post giving Crede props is justified. :rolly I'm not saying you can't give him props, my point was that Crede's play isn't going to be shutting anyone up anytime soon, regardless of a HR here or there. He's going to have to do a hell of a lot to get people on his side again.
  17. QUOTE(ChiSoxFan @ Jun 4, 2005 -> 07:14 PM) 1 for 3 with a walk and a 2 run homer. Come on Joe. Keep getting those clutch hits to shut the haters up. 2000 CWS 7 14 2 5 1 0 0 3 0 3 0 0 .357 .333 .429 .762 2001 CWS 17 50 1 11 1 1 0 7 3 11 1 0 .220 .273 .280 .553 2002 CWS 53 200 28 57 10 0 12 35 8 40 0 2 .285 .311 .515 .826 2003 CWS 151 536 68 140 31 2 19 75 32 75 1 1 .261 .308 .433 .741 2004 CWS 144 490 67 117 25 0 21 69 34 81 1 2 .239 .299 .418 .717 2005 CWS 53 172 22 39 8 0 7 21 12 26 1 1 .227 .290 .395 .685 Total -- 425 1462 188 369 76 3 59 210 89 236 4 6 .252 .302 .430 .732 With those kind of numbers it's going to take A LOT to shut your so called "haters" up. So I'd refrain from posting every HR Joe hits as a "I told you so" type of post because it's going to take a little more than one HR for people to be shut up about Joe Crede.
  18. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 07:45 PM) Unless Carroll neglected to mention that the Tigers would be sending a good prospect or two the Devil Rays' way, I don't see this ever happening. I'm sure there'd be other players involved. Very rarely do you see a one-for-one swap anymore (loaiza for contreras notwithstanding). But the Tigers system is one of the worst farm systems in baseball. Unless it would be a PTBNL (probably from this year's draft), I don't see Tampa all that interested in what the Tigers have to offer in terms of minors talent.
  19. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 07:41 PM) What a BS rumor. Dmitri Young for Aubrey Huff? Yeah right. :rolly A Tigers fan must have started this rumor. Well I doubt that, Will Carroll is one of the most respected writers in baseball. He probably wouldn't put it in his article unless someone a bit more in the know than a random tiger fan tipped him off. Even so, I still think it's B.S. as well, but I wouldn't completely write it off since I respect the source (although it still is a rumor, much like Eric Chavez to the White Sox is a rumor.)
  20. Per Will Carroll of Baseball Prospectus (I'd link it, but it's a pay article): "One rumor circling the Tigers is a deal of Dmitri Young to the Devil Rays for Aubrey Huff. Young would be expected to ease the transition for his phenom brother, Delmon Young." Seems like a damn good deal for the Tigers, but I've always liked Aubrey Huff (much like many others on this site). However this rumor shows some signs that the D-Rays don't want the moon for Huff...if this deal is a real possibility of course.
  21. Just finished "Positively Fifth Street" By Jim McManus For those of you into poker, this is a good read if you're looking for something other than strategy books. To briefly describe it, McManus was intending to do a report about women in the 2000 WSOP, as well as the Ted Binion Murder trial that was going on as well. However, he took his book advance to try and parlay his way into the actually WSOP Big Event himself...and the book covers all three of these stories and much more. Pretty good read, I give it a 4 out of 5.
  22. With the 6th pick in the draft, the Blue Jays select: Ricky Romero LHP Cal State Fullerton Surprise Surprise.
