QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 04:55 PM) All things considered--contracts, age, etc--Felix Hernandez, Johan Santana, Jeremy Bonderman, Jake Peavy, Doc Halladay, Ben Sheets. I'm surprised Felix Hernandez's name has only been dropped once in this thread. Granted he hasn't pitched an inning of ML ball, but he's 19 and DESTROYING triple A. Everyone who has seen him has basically called him the second coming and he's probably the closest thing anyone will see to a "pitching prospect". I guess if Hernandez was part of a package deal for Buerhle, I'd drop MB, but it'd be a tough call at this moment. As for the question at hand, the only two pitchers I would trade Buerhle for are Santana and Peavy. Period. Neither haven't had much of injury history and have better pure "stuff". Sheets and Halladay? Eh they're good, but I'd much rather have Buerhle. Buerhle = face of the White Sox (Frank is as well). It's hard to put value on that, especially if he's one of the reasons Garland is turning it on.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 11:54 AM) vodka flavor. Call me whacky. Well let's make it four whacky people here, because vodka flavored vodka is fine by me. However, I'm defintely a Grey Goose person. It's head and shoulders above most vodkas in my mind, and it's worth the price tag. Grey Goose and tonic or Grey Goose and Red Bull is right up my alley (even though I hear the red bull/vodka is bad for you...don't know how bad or true, but that's the rumor) At bars though I feel lucky when I just get Smirnoff as the house vodka. At school it's even worse because they like to whip out the bottles with black labels and big red death letters on them and call it the "house vodka". Talk about hangover city....but at least it's cheap ($2.50 mixed drinks ain't bad)

Gotta love Frank hitting bombs. No matter the score. Frank! -
Nevin's mouth and the Pads celebrating last night's victory like it was the World Series makes this victory all that much sweeter. So like I said in chat, Stay classy you jerks. (well this is the PG-13 version, lol) Here's to a successful roadtrip!

QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jun 10, 2005 -> 07:09 PM) also, this will be the last generation of EA football on the PS2. should be interesting after that. I'd assume they'd continue to make NCAA for the next gen systems though...it's not like they have to worry about the NFL license when it comes to college games. If they do make NCAA for the next gen I can't wait to see what they churn out for the 360.

Gameplay-wise '04 was ridiculously good. Graphics-wise, it was pretty bad. '04 is defintely my favorite in the series though, that's why my expectations were so high for last year/this year's game. If this game can be on the same level as '04 when it comes to gameplay and have a few new nice bells and whistles....well you probably won't be seeing me for a couple months.

I played it on hesiman, took me a couple seasons to master it, but the only way to pass on hesiman was to throw deep balls to your speedy, tall receivers. 33% you'll be able to get it if you have decent receivers. Other than that, nope there's no way to pass. Oh and don't even think about running unless you have a sick running back. One thing I wish they'd fix is how awesome scrambling QBs are. Really good ones are impossible to stop, and I always recruit the fastest QBs you can find. Make linebackers quicker, make spy plays actually work, something needs to be changed there because snapping in the shotgun and running with the QB is what almost everyone does. But like I said, I watched a few of the videos and the game looks much improved. I'm really hoping this one lives up to the hype, because this series is my favorite of the EA sports games.

I was HIGHLY disappointed with last year's game the first few weeks I had it. Too much attention to the gizmos and gadgets and the gameplay suffered bigtime (especially offense). However, after I got sick of Madden this game grew on me...but I'm really hoping for gameplay improvements. Speed the game up, let receivers actually catch the ball, and pay less attention to shaky screens and such. The new features sound pretty cool, and if it plays like Madden did last year I'm gonna have lots of fun with it. Hopefully they bulked up recruiting a bit too. Either way, I'm excited for this game if only for the fact that Iv(being the crusty old senior RA I am) get to pound on his over-confident freshmen. EDIT: After checking the videos out I'm REALLY excited. The gamespeed looks good, and the game itself has a great look.

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 10, 2005 -> 05:01 PM) http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/scouting?statsId=6494 We already have a guy with a long swing who's an easy strikeout victim. I also wouldn't want him if he can barely play 1st base. Right, if he's awful at 1st...no thanks. But if he were/is servicable at first he'd be a good right handed bat off the bench...seeing as we have no righties off the bench.

QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Jun 10, 2005 -> 04:37 PM) The Sox would be wise to pick up Josh Phelps, who was stupidly released by the Devil Rays. Not sure if anyone has taken a look at him yet. I agree Cerb, Phelps can rake. I was wondering though, could he play first base at all? I remember him being a catcher at the beginning of his career and then he was basically a DH. If he's only a DH he'd be kind of useless on our club, but if he isn't a butcher at first he'd be a good backup.

QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 12:24 PM) Isn't he with Boras? Eh maybe he is...I know Bowden is. But I was referring to Hansen/Hochevar, just too lazy to type their names.
