  1. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 08:45 PM) Don't worry Ozzie isn't leaving Chicago. This is the only place he'll manage. Disagree.
  2. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 08:42 PM) Someone proposed on minorleagueball that if Ozzie bolts to Florida and Pierre leaves (don't know 100% if he's a FA), Ozzie may want Pods to go down an join him. Free agent after next year. But they could play podsednik in left since juan encarnacion is a free agent at season's end. But would there really be a need for three lead-off hitters?
  3. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 08:40 PM) I swear, if the Sox make that deal I'd go shoot the GM. I would barely give up Chris Young for Adam Dunn, let alone a stud pitcher like Contreras. Dunn>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> chris young now and probally six years down the road.
  4. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 08:34 PM) I'll puke if that happens. Nomar = Frank (ie I don't want anyone you can't count on being healthy). Dunn is as over-rated as it gets. Sure he'd be great, but this guy doesn't have a clue how to execute. He went a couple years without a sac fly or something. Pathetic. Resign Paulie..trade for Delgado...keep the rest of the cast in place, add another reliever, deal Duque. I am sick of people saying that the marlins want out of delgado's contract and the same with beltre. Find me some examples of teams signing players to large 3/4 year deal and immediately trading them the following year. Both beltre and delgado will be on their respective teams next year.
  5. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 08:14 PM) It don't mean a thing without the ring. If the sox got to the world series and lost it would still mean alot more money than a first round exit or not making it at all.
  6. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 08:30 PM) Ya, and for once Hawk wasn't talking out of his arse when he said that. Paulie has been a bright spot as of late. I'm really glad. I'll be so so mad if he walks during the off-season. I'm sick of how underappreciated he is by a lot of Sox fans. At least you will be able to see him all the time since you follow the angels.
  7. QUOTE(Y2HH @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 08:25 PM) Wow did Tampa EVER step up and play spoiler! Tampa...YES! Could say the same about the tigers too...
  8. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 08:21 PM) He didnt have a chance. Everything is a cheap hit and no one has a chance at anything apparently.
  9. Podsednik gave his all right there... it's ok son!
  10. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 08:04 PM) 10 K's for Count. QUOTE(kman @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 08:04 PM) jose dealin! 9k's QUOTE(BFirebird @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 08:04 PM) JOSE HUGE AGAIN!!!! 8 k's
  11. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 08:03 PM) Contreras has lost the release on his fastball, as he's dropping down too much. He's lost like 5 mph on the pitch. Did he throw 99-100 before and i did not know about it? He was hitting 94-95 all inning long.
  12. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 07:56 PM) What a bunch of pussies we are. We desperately need wins and we cant score 1 f***ing run against the tigers. What the hell is wrong with us?! ?
  13. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 07:56 PM) Gosh -- I hate to say it, but I love Polanco so much. He's a real good hitter. I personally think orlando cabrera is better...
  14. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 04:13 PM) considering those were defensive comparisons, you are full of it. Dye is just as mobile if not more than Maggs, and has an arm that has kept many runners off 3B. Tell me that you want willie to start instead of Iguchi so we can really have a good time. Ordonez had more range in his tenure here than dye has/had. Dye's arm is overated due to the fact he over throwa the cut off man every chance he gets therefore allowing runners to advance at will. I never said i wanted willie to start over iguchi... but what i did say is he is is a superior second baseman defensively.
  15. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 03:17 PM) Um NO!! :puke Here's MY roster for next year.........CF Pierre, 2b Iguchi, Giles LF, Konerko 1b, Delgado DH, Dye RF, Crede 3b, AJ C, Uribe SS.....Bench....Anderson, Pablo, Willie, Borchard, Widger......Pitching staff....Contreras, Buehrle, Garland, Garcia, McCarthy........BP.........Viz, Marte, Hermansen, Cotts, Politte, Jenks.........Let Everett, Pods and Blum walk. Trade El Puque and Rowand Podsednik walk? I can see you thought this through well.
  16. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 10:39 AM) POds>Carlos Dye>Maggs AJ>everything for the past 10 years Iguchi>Willie Iguchi a better defensive second baseman than iguchi? In his dreams... dye better than ordonez? LOL... and i do not care what aaron rowand says about it. Oh, and willie harris did have a .366 obp against righties in 2004 ( which is superior than what podsednik is currently at)...
  17. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 10:42 PM) I really think Ozzie's gonna jump ship to Florida this off-season, when they fire McKeon (which is pretty much a lock to happen now). Hard to fire a free agent.
  18. Who knows if mckeon is gonna retire or now. Cox will resign. So that would leave us down to pinella and macha, but neither are an option becaus the sox felt the need to give ozzie an extension when he proved jack s***.
  19. QUOTE(Frank the Tank 35 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 01:53 AM) Hmm... seems like everyone's done bickering... just when I finished up my grad homework for the night (well, what I just decided was the finishing point anyway ). I truly envision konerko getting in the twelve million range from someone like the angels who will be going after him as hard as anyone. I see some team being stupid and giving him a 3-4 year deal with an option when i wouldn't give him any thing more than a guaranteed two year deal with two options years. His knees are shot. Agreed. Get a fresh face in there. imo will most likely be brought back even though a career minor leaguer could put up better numbers for much less.. -Trade Duque, Marte, Arow, and Hermy. Duque should just be a throwin on some deal. If not maybe the Sox could get a low level prospect, that's all I expect. Some team should be desperate enough for a 5th starter. Marte obviously has the walks problem. Arow can be replaced by Anderson. It makes too much sense. Let a rookie or two step it up, it's what winning teams do. Clear payroll for some big names. Hermanson was bound to get hit up. Not just because his back is bothering him but because all he throws is sliders. Granted that may be AJ's choice, but honestly Hermy had been operating with smoke and mirrors for most of the season. Trade him and get what value you can for him. -Hopefully the above players (plus prospects?) can nab us Tracy. Tracy is making minimum folks... that means $$ for another FA! I believe the five hole is also where konerko fits in best. I remember when he was batting behind maggs, frank, and sometimes lee? That is definitely the best spot in the line-up for him imo. What i would do to have a .900 ops three hole hitter and a enar .1000 ops four hole hitter followed by konerko... Podsednik's obp is batting average heavy. Only place i see for him on a contending team is a fifth outfielder. -That leaves us with a moderate sum to sign a FA. I've been anti-Crede for awhile now. This new "streak" of his doesn't really faze me, he'll be back in a .190 slump in no time. However, is he better than Uribe? At this point, I guess so... I mean he does come up with big hits in late innings... I'll give him that much at least. So either we replace Crede and sign Mueller or we replace Uribe and sign Nomar/Furcal. I think Furcal is a longshot at best unless KW gets Uncle Jerry to really open up. But I think it would be possible to sign both Mueller and Nomar or possibly shore up our bullpen with a Mueller/BJ Ryan or Nomar/Scott Eyre combo. When healthy Nomar could really step nicely into a #3 spot for us. I envision Chad Tracy being able to do that at some point, but I don't know if I'd want to entrust it to him so soon. In any event a Nomar/Tracy combo would be two .300 hitters back to back, wouldn't it be nice?
  20. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 12:15 AM) Honestly, this is where people's opinions of pods are formed...how they feel about stolen bases. Hardly. Brewers fans hated him. They said he was a lackadaisical one dimensional player. Guess what? He is. His defense blows... i argued with everyone about this during the time of the trade and everyone disagreed. Thankfully he decided to change that this season. Remember how he use to swing for the fences every at bat? He was also thought of as a selfish player and would not change his approach at the plate last season with the brewers. He was suppose to have bad plate discipline ( do not tell me it does not show) and he is on a three year decline with his #p/pa. Then you count in his bad base running? Twenty three caught stealings, nine pick-offs that i recall, four times he tried to stretch a single into a double ( twice in one week?!?). I know, i know, heis injury hampered his base running abilities... well how about stop f***ing stealing.? He had a stretch that he only stole like six out of twenty two succesfully. Rather he stays at first and have our inept try and knock him in than running ourselves out of the inning ( done that countless times as a whole team) On the surface podsednik's numbers look good... but in reality than are nothing special.
  21. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 10:21 PM) Colorado have repeatedly said they won't deal him, and if they will, he has a lot of $$ on his deal, plus they'll want some real good prospects. And as Rowand just said about the power numbers at Coors. Helton is out of the question since he said he wants to be apart of the ever lasting youth movement in colorado.
