  1. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Mar 28, 2005 -> 09:06 PM) I sent Eddy the Bulls-indy game thread. Didn't know it would motivate him this much... You honestly must have. He is playing better defense today. OT McGrady's got 30 pts(11-13 FG) in the first half against the Jazz . Rockets up 14.
  2. Chandler trying to rip the damn rim off. Tyson needs more minutes, isn't it clear?
  3. Little run for the grizzles. Skiles calls a time out before it gets any worse.
  4. QUOTE(ptatc @ Mar 28, 2005 -> 09:04 PM) Let's put it another way. Would you rather have a guy with an ERA of 2.6 with 12 wins ala Kerry Wood or a guy with 16 wins and an ERA of 3.89 ala MB? I for one go with the only stat that truly matters: the WIN. Wood or whoever has the 2.6 era.

  6. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Mar 28, 2005 -> 08:40 PM) Why is Chandler still not starting? He could pull down 15 boards a night if he was. Davis and his max contract.
  7. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Mar 28, 2005 -> 08:29 PM) Another Eddy dunk... Should be updated after the game. http://www.sportsline.com/nba/dunk-o-meter
  8. Cross over by gordon was sick but he missed it. Davis gets the rebounds passes to curry, curry makes it and goes to the line for one.
  9. Cubs. The amount of posts i make at the cubs board makes the amount here look miniscule.
  10. This should be an exciting game considering both teams have extremely deep teams.
  11. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Mar 28, 2005 -> 02:35 AM) Well, I somewhat disagree. Contreras has a Jekyll and Hyde syndrome where he's unhittable one start but can't find the plate and gets rocked in his next start. At least he's good during some of his starts as opposed to Diaz who sucks in all of his starts. No matter what anyone says diaz wouldn't have an era above let's say six. While that may be horrible i would much rather pay him peanuts to do that than for contreras to have a 5.50 era and get paid six million or so.
  12. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Mar 28, 2005 -> 03:26 AM) You're right. The expectations were higher for Chandler, hence why he was picked before Curry. Actually, it was a shocker to everyone when chandler was taken that high. Most people thought curry was a guaranteed number one or two pick. If you do not believe me i can show you a bunch of mock drafts from 2001 where chandler is four or lower in the majority of them. I don't know how many times i have seen snippets like this said about chandler. Garnett my ass.
  13. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Mar 28, 2005 -> 03:23 AM) Find me 30 articles that refer to him as baby shaq.
  14. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Mar 28, 2005 -> 03:38 AM) What is up with Chandler double-clutching his free throws? :puke I don't know. He tried to so the same thing gordon does and fails miserably.
  15. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Mar 28, 2005 -> 03:28 AM) I still don't know where you got the lowered expectations from, but I agree with everything else. It's essentially what I have been saying. I'll take them both back for the right price. It would suck that we suffered with them while another team gets to enjoy their better years. Let's hope Pax really does know what he's doing. But 75% free throw % for big men? I don't wanna hear your steals expectations now. I guess we sort of agreed, since it's what I've been saying before. Curry is not that far off from shooting 75% on free thows. A year or two of hard work would get him there. Chandler could possibly get up to 72% because his shot is just so damn ugly. Curry= low steal total but i would not give a s*** if he would be an intimidator some what. Chandler could realistically get around 1.5 a game in my opinion because he does have good hands and very good spped for his size.
  16. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Mar 28, 2005 -> 03:26 AM) You're right. The expectations were higher for Chandler, hence why he was picked before Curry. That's great but why are you bringing up college? Neither Chandler nor Curry went to college so what's your point? I never said the expectations were lower for chandler than curry. But i do know he was not suppose to be a big time scorer. College basketball is getting hard for me too watch too. The no calls, the traveling, dribbling, lack of defense ( better than the nba but that is not saying a s*** load). All that i was saying.
  17. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Mar 28, 2005 -> 03:16 AM) And what about the three articles that I posted? Also, if most people thought that Curry would be "baby Shaq" instead of Chandler being the next Garnett, why did Chandler get picked before Curry? What is harder to come by? Offense or defense? The nba at this point in time is a f***ing joke and college is getting just as bad. If they don't want to play professional basketball go and get a job with and1. Lot's of guys can score but not a lot can play awesome defense.
  18. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Mar 28, 2005 -> 03:16 AM) And what about the three articles I posted? I asked for the articles because i kept reading that the expectations were lower for chandler than curry. This was not true then and not true now. Then both curry and him were highly overated and that is why they have neither have lived up to expectations. Even though they have not lived up to expectations it doesn't mean they will not be really good. Curry at the very least needs to get over a block per game ( hoping for the very least 1.50, is that too nmuch to ask) and at the very very least eight rebounds per game. Would be nice to see chandler and him get their free thows improved more ( nice to see they both have this year) hoping for the to get up to 75% range but that may be asking too much. Curry's overall defense needs to improve and it would be nice to see chandler get a better shot and be more aggressive going to the rim. Both also need help when it comes to basketball iq, they both make silly mistakes. I would take them both back i am just afraid that some team is gonna throw a lot of money at them that we can't/won't match.
  19. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Mar 28, 2005 -> 02:52 AM) Here's four excerpts: Clutchcity.net Notes on Tyson Chandler Tyson Chandler has been one of the most talked about high school players in years. He was 6'10" in 8th grade and a basketball sensation, even appearing on "60 Minutes" the summer before his freshman year of high school. Since then has been closely watched on the hoops scene. His senior season, Chandler averaged 26 points, 15 rebounds and 8 blocked shots for the Dominguez Dons. Compares himself and his style of play to his favorite NBA player, Kevin Garnett. An exceptionally athletic 7-footer, Chandler has the makings of a potential NBA star. Tyson Chandler Tyson is from Compton, California and was thrilled when he was picked 2nd overall by his hometown LA Clippers. But the thrill didn't last long because within hours of drafting Tyson, the Clippers traded him to the Bulls. Tyson was shocked at first but the 7'0 center/forward is now looking forward to teaming up with fellow highschool draft pick, Eddy Curry. Tyson's favorite player is Kevin Garnett (who was also picked right out of high school) and he plays with a similar style. Tyson is a big guy but he can run the floor and has a sweet outside jump shot. For more on Tyson, check out his official site. Chicago Bulls | Colin Howard Eddy Curry: The next Shaq. Tyson Chandler: The next Kevin Garnett. Yes, back in 2001, the Bulls' future sure looked bright. Even though it required Chicago to trade it's most consistent frontcourt man to do it in Elton Brand, the Bulls were excited about what looked like 2 players who could eventually become the best frontcourt in the NBA. Chicago fan's are still waiting impatiently, and rightfully so, for that time to come. Chandler and Curry may be just a season or 2 away from that time, and just some good luck is needed. This isn't carved in stone. You know, Eddy Curry may show up and just be fantastic next year and get 15 and 8. Tyson Chandler might be a clone of Kevin Garnett. Michael Bradley could be a real bust. Those things could happen. But I'm looking at this realistically, and what I think more than anything else is that Curry, Chandler and Diop should go to college. Then we will see if we have Baby Shaq, or if knees become a problem, or if weight becomes an issue, or if a million other things that can and do become apparent in college affect each of these players. First article says he compares himself to garnett nothing else that i can see. Where did you get the excerpt that chandler has a sweet jumpshot? His own site? who wrote it? because everyone knew his shot was suspect at best. Anyone that ever saw him play in highschool could realize that he did not have the shot of garnett. The comparisions to shaq for curry and garnett for chandler were not that close. The nba didn't have the hype for a few yeaers by that time and needed to try and make a big splash with the comparisons and get the casual fans interested again. You heard ten to one that curry would be ''baby shaq'' rather than chandler being the next garnett.
  20. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Mar 28, 2005 -> 02:57 AM) LOL You just made a great pro-Curry point. Coming out of high school, expectations were high for both. Chandler was the NUMBER 2 PICK ahead of Curry. The lowered expectations for scoring aren't being given by me, that's for sure. Everybody expected him to score. He averaged about 27 points in high school. I still remember when he played against Curry and won. You and other like-minded fans are the ones who are giving him lower expectations when it comes to scoring. All of a sudden, he's not supposed to score anymore. If you are 7-1 should you not score 27 points on 5-9 to at the tallest 6-6 on average? Come on now would not be that hard. Chandler was picked so high because of his defensive prowess not his scoring. Edit: When you are in highschool all that they have to do is pass you the ball and he could beat the s*** out of them psychically and nail little bunnies/dunks/ layups all day long who is gonna stop you?
  21. I thought the expectations were lower for chandler than curry? Thought so.
  22. http://www.badtipper.com/celebrities/scottiePippen.shtml Bulls*** he is a top twenty five player in nba history. Contreras blows and we should have never traded loaiza for him. Big waste of money if you ask me. I would rather have diaz sucking ass every fifth day ( for a much cheaper amount of money) if you ask me. Oh, and i went there.
  23. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Mar 27, 2005 -> 11:59 PM) In my humble opinion, Curry is fairly decent. Yeah, I'll admit I'm partial to him because he wears a Bulls uniform, is a hometown guy, we drafted him, and I fantasize about what he could have done 1-2 years at my school... Go ahead and criticize his deficiencies, but don't look past his scoring ability. I truly believe that Chandler's scoring is as horrible as Eddy's D. And don't tell me Chandler wasn't expected to score when drafted and that only Eddy has been compared to a superstar he won't live up to because if you truly follow the Bulls as you say you do you will remember that Chandler was being compared to Kevin Garnett. Let's wait and see what he asks for. I trust that Pax will make the right move. Please find me three articles that compare chandler to garnett. Everyone knew he did not have a shot so...
  24. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 28, 2005 -> 12:21 AM) That's a damn good preview, graphs and stats that are actually quite easy to follow. They've done their homework alright, and they're quite correct when saying starting pitching will probably make the difference. That is why i read them daily.. they know what they are talking about 99.7% of the time.
  25. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Mar 27, 2005 -> 11:29 PM) when i said you dont even know i mean personally because based on your previous comments not that you havent seen him play. It's a common thing that happens in sports with players like curry. He is no different and if you think so well... you can do that.
