  1. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 03:08 PM) 1.) He didn't even attempt to get back to 2nd. 2.) I have a sneaking suspicion he ran on his own. Like he had a chance when he was at 3rd base. Nothing wrong with trying to get to 3rd with 1 out.
  2. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 03:07 PM) HOW THE f*** IS BARRY BONDS CAREER GOING DOWNHILL? He can't use steriods as much as he used to...
  3. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 03:05 PM) I hate you Pods. How was that his fault?
  4. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 03:01 PM) I see while posting here that MacDougal blew the shut out and gave up another homer. He had one good outing in three since coming back. The bullpen needs the overhaul and not consider giving up a guy like Jim Thome, or even letting Dye go. Hawk and DJ were also talking about Mac had been pitching with some pain. I would bet we see a better pitcher out there now.
  5. QUOTE(PlunketChris @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 01:33 PM) definitely an interesting day for Fields... At least this team is now interesting to watch!
  6. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 01:26 PM) I just noticed Casey has only hit 19 homers since 2004. Pretty pathetic for a first baseman. 24 in '04. Then, 9, 8, and 2 so far... Not really ever been a power hitter.
  7. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 01:24 PM) That was a real nice pitch there. The one Casey turned into?
  8. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 01:13 PM) He runs like a girl. Haha. LOL. I would like to see a side-by-side shot of him and Casey running. At least he has some pretty decent speed though.
  9. Come on Owens. Let's get a runner in from 3rd with less than 2 outs.
  10. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 3, 2007 -> 10:59 AM) You know? I'm not sure the Sox know what they have in either of those 2 right now. I have no idea what happened to the other Contreras or if he can find his way back, and I have no idea whether Charlie will be able to get to the point where he can throw the knuckler for strikes enough to be effective. But still, I agree with you on giving Gavin the majority of the remainder of the season to see if he can do anything, under the "no risk high reward" rule. If there are 10 starts left, I would like to see Gavin for 5. Then, Haeger for 5. Let's see what we have and Contreras have a break to see if he can get things going again for next year.
  11. QUOTE(SoxPride56 @ Aug 3, 2007 -> 11:40 AM) Very good point, and I was thinking that as well... but don't you think Paulie can play 1B for another 2, maybe 3 years? Sign Dye for a 2 or 3 year deal to be the DH, when his contract is up, move Konerko to the DH. Would this be realistic? I would like for this to be the plan. I am a HUGE JD fan.
  12. Don't forget about the bullpen for this one
  13. Good idea, but I can only see the 1st one. The 2nd one is blocked, and the 3rd one I get a "No longer available" error.
  14. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 12:25 PM) I think it's the opposite, and teams like the Mets/Dodgers/Red Sox can afford to trade prospects because they know that if they have holes to fill, they can go out and buy players. Maybe you are right, but I think that the current pathetic offer reported from the Red Sox is at least one point against that. I would also think that the current reports about Garland offers point against that.
  15. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 12:19 PM) The Brewers gave up 3 of their top 10 pitching prospects in order to get a 2 month rental for a set-up man. And the Brewers team salary is at... I should have added some more to my thoughts there. The Brewers are not a team that has spent themselves into a corner. 9/10 teams that are competitive are in the upper brackets of spending and have painted themselves into a corner where they cannot afford to lose a chance at some prospect turning out, and are therefore holding on to any and all prospects that they have.
  16. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 12:12 PM) That's such bulls*** though....it's such an excuse being stated by KW. Milwaukee and Atlanta had no problem giving up highly rated prospects for players. KW is HORRIBLE at trading veterans for prospects, end of story. I'm not looking forward to the excuses we'll hear in the press tonight if nothing happens. It is not BS when that is what everyone is looking for right now. Seriously, name one team that is not looking for/holding on to prospects. Everyone is looking for them right now because of the price of all other players. You get ridiculous Zito contracts and they realize they cannot afford to pay for all of these players. So, everyone goes and looks for the cheap, magical, cure. They have to now find those wonders that suddenly pop up and can play because they have priced themselves out of everything else by making the contracts too large.
  17. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 12:08 PM) It depends on what Kenny is asking for. He could of very well Tampa Bay'd his trade talks this year. I think that it is more of a issue of how ridiculously overpriced propects are right now.
  18. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 09:21 AM) Isn't the Deadline 4 pm ET? That would be 6 hours away. IIRC, all offers need to be on the Commish's desk by 3 pm ET, and they need to be signed off on by 4 pm ET. I could be wrong though.
  19. QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Jul 30, 2007 -> 10:58 PM) I'm telling you... Dye and KW are talking. I am not opposed to resigning JD. I think we will come to know in the morning that JD will finish his career with the White Sox. I would not mind that at all. That would fill one of our holes. Just a 1/2 dozen to go!
  20. QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Jul 30, 2007 -> 08:36 PM) Not mine, the Twins got two scrubs. Two scrubs, even though they were guaranteed two scrubs already! What an awesome deal they got compared to us! Do I really need the green for that second part?
  21. QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Jul 30, 2007 -> 08:04 PM) Other people brought it up. Maybe Kenny should have found a way to deal Anderson, keeping Young out of the Vazquez deal. Yea, Javier is a good pitcher and anyone could see he has above average stuff. The key is to minimize your investment. We have Anderson rotting away hitting .250 in AAA ball, while Young is on a 30-30 pace. Hindsight is 20/20 as they say. Who knows if ther was any way that they could have gotten them to agree to it with Anderson instead? Right now, it sucks because we are at the point where we want to do a whole youth movement, but this is the worst time to be trying to do that. Young players (or prospects) are the gold standard right now. IMO, they are too highly priced. If you want them, you are going to have to pay a great deal and are buying while the market is at a high-point. They will go down eventually, but it does suck when you want them right now. It's like the stock market. Sell high, buy low. What we want is at a high because everyone else wants it due to all of the outrageous contracts that have been offered.
